Random minifig of the day: sr013
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is sr013 Trixie, a Speed Racer figure that came in one set, 8161 Grand Prix Race, released during 2008.
Our members collectively own a total of 1,120 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $9.50.

Huwbot truly is sentient… we have a minifigure from a licensed set about racing on the same day as a review of a licensed set about racing!
Every Speed Racer RMotD so far has come from that set.
Oof. I...am going to stick to mentioning that she's got black hair and brown eyebrows. And that's it.
Such a forgottern theme. It had some decent sets and minifigures.
Speed Racer went off the shelves shortly before I started getting back into LEGO again so the existence of this entire line will never not feel like a fever dream whenever I see it.

And she's wearing Harry Potter's hair.
Underrated sets but some of the figures are CLEARLY from that awkward period of LEGO's in the 2000s where they are "More Detailed But Still Working It Out."
The N64 era of minifigs.
I am relieved that dual-molded legs became possible. Unfortunately it was after this set.
And… no sweet dreams tonight, just nightmares.
She truly looks nothing like her character. In the movie. Trixie was the kind, intelligent, and super supportive girlfriend of Speed Racer. Here, she looks like she wants to sell you bricks of something other than plastic in the back alley.

Blame it on poor marketing. It was usually crammed in amongst the other Racers sets in the catalogues, almost as if it was a sub-theme to Racers similar to Ferrari etc.
Took me actually a while to realize this was a new movie licence when I first saw it.
Anyone know why her hips aren't pink like the rest of her dress? Always looked rather weird to me...

Funny. When I first saw the image I immediately thought that it must be a minifig from the early Harry Potter sets.
Oh I see, she’s a bystander! I thought she seemed a bit underdressed to be a racer
Interesting, Lego had 8 stud race cars already, yet they decided to start Speed Champions with 6 stud, then upgrade it to 8 stud (Not that I prefer 8 stud, just saying). I liked the minifigure by the way, looks colorful and fun.
Please, don't turn around.

You didn't like how every minifigure with shorts or a skirt was walking about with a bare booty?

Still has better printing than hallf the fugs in the Death Star.
I could've sworn this was a Flintstones-character. Possibly Barney Rubble, wearing a live badger as an unconvicing wig.
Harry Potter in drag. Is Speed Racer a drag racing theme? Pretty close I guess, so kinda funny if this was a theme cross-over (or cross-dressing).
I’ll get my coat.

Yeah the 8-stud wide Speed Racer cars were ahead of their time, truly some of the best minifig-scale two-seater cars when they were released. Though with the modern Speed Champions parts those four cars can be drastically improved.
Umbridge returns? Is it just me?

She's got wig for sure. :D
It's interesting that minifigs in this set have tan color skin, licenced, but monkey have yellow hands

I despise those cars, which are approximately the size of a regulation doubles tennis court compared to a minifig. The fender especially, I feel works much better as a window treatment on a building than anything related to a car.
I will love the original '60's Speed Racer cartoon until my dying breath. I hate the 2008 movie with the passion of a thousand suns going supernova. Along those same lines, the 2008 cartoon sequel series to the original '60s cartoon wherein Speed's kids go find an engine that lets them (check notes) travel in time, does not exist in my book.
No, I'm not exaggerating....
Also, I want a set of the Mammoth Car.

When Speed met this Trixie it inspired: "Here he comes. Here comes Speed Racer. He's a demon on wheels."

Whereas I've never seen either series, and love the movie.

They are slightly too large but so are the modern Speed Champion sets. The cars from this line are incredibly flat however, so minifigures don't even look that terrible when standing next to them.
This Trixie minifig could've used the Irina Spalko bob cut that came out the same year though. Perhaps the part was not ready yet.
a lot of the faceprints in that 2008-2011 era were nightmare-inducing. Willie from IJ is a good example, but I never even paid attention to "Speed Racer". yikes.

Never noticed that until now.
But probably wasn't worth the effort to introduce a monkey with Nougat/Light Nougat or whatever hands.
I’ve never seen this movie but I’m gonna guess this fig is inaccurate
