Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is sh0591 Commissioner Gordon - Reddish Brown Hair and Coat, a Super Heroes figure that came in one set, 76120 Batwing and The Riddler Heist, released during 2019.

Currently the best Gordon minifig they've produced (and the TDK version is bottom of the sidebar). Still really hoping they'll do a B:TAS Gordon someday.

Agreed. This one has so much more detail than any other one.

This one pushed the previous version out of the sidebar, at least how I'm viewing it.
A cracking Gary Oldman minifig, must-have for my collection since he's a local hero (London SE14). And yes, the detail is rather impressive too!

Huh. He's gone on mine, too, but he wasn't when I made that post.
@Euroseb11:
Pretty sure Peter Riegert is the local hero. And this isn't Gary Oldman.
I'd never noticed just how expressive this version is. Those are some excellent faces.
Doesn't Gordon have either red or grey hair in the comics?
I have this set he comes in. My favorite Gordon minifig of them all. Such rich detail.
And I love the patrol car he drives that's included in the set.

Grey hair, frequently. Red hair? It's a bit complicated. Supposedly, yes, that's his natural hair color. But the most redheaded images I'm finding look closer to TLG's reddish-brown than anything I'd consider to be red hair. Live action, he's frequently depicted with brown to dark-brown hair, except obviously in The Batman, Jeffrey Wright's depiction has black hair.

It’s varied over the years. I think he was one of those comic book characters, like Aunt May from Spider-Man, who was initially conceptualized as being elderly. Then, since the turn of the century, it occurred to people that said characters probably wouldn’t actually be that old if they’re the parents, aunts, or uncles of people in their teens and 20s.
Apparently we cannot have a sidebar without Gordon keeping watch on it. One may fall but another shall take his place!
Very nice figure but I'm not sure about the leg prints. I don't think they are needed.
Look at this great set this great figure came in!
"I moustache you a question…"

In his first appearance, all the way back in the first Batman story, he had medium grey hair. Most of the people I know aged 45-50 have gone completely grey.
@Lego_lord:
Gordon is frequently depicted wearing a trenchcoat.
I think the TLBM version from the CMF series is still my personal favorite Jim minifig, with the vest and the rolled up sleeves and the print on his hair.
This one's alright, but the incomplete look of the trench coat docks some points off his score sheet. I get there's only so many dual-leg slots available in a year, but they could have at least done side printing

Yeah, I get that, but none the less the figure still looks great with just the jacket.

You’re not wrong, but all I really do with these Gordon minifigs is plonk them down next to a Batsignal on a tall building when we display. In Nov-Dec, I switch to TLBM minifigs, so it’s the two versions of that character that I use. The rest of the year it’s non-TLBM, and between the other three options, this one reads the best by a long shot. I do sometimes break out the TDK Gordon, but the only time I’ve put the Wright Gordon out is when I’ve put out all the minifigs from The Batman, which isn’t that often. The sad thing is, if they did a better job with the hem of the trenchcoat, this would make an excellent base for B:TAS Gordon.
That's a really cool torso piece.
This set and the whole 2019 Batman 80th Anniversary wave have aged really well. For just fifty bucks, you get three amazing vehicles (a nice clean 1989-styled Batwing, a really good classic Bell-styled helicopter, and the best 6w police car ever made) and four iconic minifigures (Batman, a pretty good Riddler, Shazam, and the best Commissioner Gordon), plus a safe, all in one box for tons of fantastic play scenarios. Try getting that from the DC theme today, where a single Batmobile costs sixty bucks and there ... just isn't anything else.
