Today's random minifigure is cty0242 Police - City Leather Jacket with Gold Badge, White Helmet, Trans-Brown Visor, Black Eyebrows, a Town figure that came in one set, 3648 Police Chase, released during 2011.

He's looking smug, and he hasn't even caught the criminal yet!

So...what exactly is "city leather"? Does it merely have to be cut and assembled in the city, or does it also have to be tanned there as well?

By in Germany,

I am very confused by this head and torso combination. Feels... um, anachronistic?

And yes, naming at it's best. Why is "Police" (sub-theme or whatever you will call it) before "City" (actual theme)?

Is City not technically a separate theme from Town? I mean, aside from the trike, it feels thematically different.

Bricklink uses Town as the overarching theme name that includes Classic Town, World City and City. And Brickset uses the top level theme name for the random minifigure of the day so that's why all Classic Town, World City and City minifigures are listed as town minifigures. If you go to the individual minifigure's page you can also see it's subtheme(s), in this case City / Police.

Having a cop come after Batman seems very thematically appropriate

Categorization of "Town-related" themes is an utter mess on basically any Lego site (including the official one). What people consider part of it and what not is always highly arbitrary.

Narrator: And the Road-Plate Warrior? That was the last we ever saw of him. He lives now... only in my memories...

Seriously (rocks hand:)), I feel the character would be named something like "Max Brickatansky", and he patrols the 'outer regions' of "Apocalypseburg"...and he is still out there...:D

Now I'm thinking of a Lego version of Fury Road. "Shiny and chro... I mean Silver Ink."
