City Advent Calendar - Day 7

Posted by ,

Assuming the pattern established in the first few days continues, we should expect another toy on day seven. However, I am not convinced the prior pattern will carry on.

Let's find out...

Pets and small animals often appear in the Friends and City Advent Calendars, so this puppy and their feeding bowl are not a huge surprise. They are welcome though, as the puppy has appeared in only a few sets and I like the printed dog food tile. Even so, the items in this calendar have been pretty insubstantial thus far.

Overall - This is a good addition to the Advent Calendar, although with nothing unique, it is not a standout.

"...the puppy has only appeared in a few sets..." One of which is 60472. Funny, I always thought of junkyard dogs as looking fiercer than that.

Not my favorite dog mold piece, but still alright.

I'm not going to grumble too much, as I knew the piece count on the calendar and I'm happy to get the puppy fig, but when I see Friends Advent Calendar - Day 6 by comparison I do think it is all a little too light this year. Maybe a simple kennel or basket even would have helped.

So, either the sweater dog from last year died, or this is a different family.

It would be awesome that Lego put micro builds of future sets in advent themes sets

I think this is probably my favorite dog mold piece that isn’t the terrier. It’s close, but I think it is second. I do have all of the different versions, too. Think the Grey one is my favorite.

It's a dog. 13 out of 10, no notes.

Usually they put the current year’s sets in it, if they’re going to do that at all. They’re already working on the 2026 calendars by now, I’m sure, so the 2027 retail lineup isn’t even on their radar. Plus, this allows for the possibility that the kid who builds this might get the same set(s) for Christmas as they built in the calendar earlier that month.

By in Puerto Rico,

Now this is a great manner to make a dog food and water plate.

My calender from 2013 has a regular bowl with bone, the dog being a dalmatian.

Shrinkflation at its finest

It's all going downhill. Cute puppy, though.

If by “finest” you mean “arguably better even despite being smaller”, then yes. This year’s doggie-and-bowl entry not only has more pieces, it has more printed pieces, and represents not just a food bowl but a water one as well. It even has more spares.

I think the puppy is still bigger that little guy on Day 1 of the Star Wars calendar. And at least the puppy comes with food and water bowls!

Day one of the SW waas dual-molded, though, so at least there's that.
