Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 5

Posted by ,

Harry Potter's jumper was decorated with an owl and a mini owl followed the day after, so perhaps a similar Cornish Pixie will appear today to match Cho Chang's jumper from yesterday.

Find out after the break...

In fact, we receive a model of the Sorting Hat, similar in style to the owl from day two. This looks reasonable to me and better than the owl, as the shape is alright and I like the mix of dark brown and reddish brown colours. However, the Sorting Hat's facial features are not nearly as defined as the eyes on this little model, so the printed tiles look a bit strange to me.

Overall - There is something fun about the Sorting Hat's simplicity here, but the printed eyes are awkward.

I'k thinking these Brickheadz-eyed models will look a lot better once we see them as a set, rather than one-by-one.

I can at least appreciate the eyes on this one making it look less like a pile of, uh, y'know.

It could be the Guidance Counselor hat.

"Alright, let's make this fast. I'm parked in a loading zone."

There are two ways we can go about this: we could say it’s a nice chocolate traffic cone. We could also say that it looks like an infamous emoji.

@Robot99:
Eh, I think that might be making it worse, actually.

That traffic cone has been left in the wrong place for far too long.

The eyes should be wrinkles somehow. Something brown. Like a 1x2 grill?

Honestly kinda like this chibi-fied Nazi-identifying hat.

I feel it being so smooth and straight in contrast to how rumpled and lopsided it’s supposed to look takes something away from it, personality wise. This is just a traffic cone with googly eyes

By in Germany,

That was quite a big dog

Didn't we do the "Birdhouse in your Soul" thing yesterday? It's fine, it's a good song.

By in Puerto Rico,

That Sorting Hat looks sad.

That is one impressive mustache. For a hat, that is.

This poor gnome was covered in chocolate. That moustache will be a nightmare to get clean!

Short of a bunch of printed pieces, I don't know how you'd get it to look properly wrinkled, though.

Could at least have used sloped or hinged pieces to make it a bit more crooked. Or just not have done the Sorting Hat
