Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 3
Posted by CapnRex101,Day one introduced a droidsmith and day two a place for him to work, so I expect to find a droid for Babu Frik to build behind door number three.
Let's open the door and see...
Babu Frik becomes involved with the Resistance cause when he is tasked with accessing the coordinates for the Sith wayfinder, which C-3PO holds in his memory, though cannot translate because of his programming. Threepio's eyes turn red when reading the Sith message and this minifigure is based on that moment, featuring red eyes instead of the usual yellow.
Many fans suggested using the Bounty Hunter C-3PO minifigure from 75389 The Dark Falcon for exactly this purpose, so I am pleased to see LEGO Star Wars taking the opportunity for the Advent Calendar. The red eyes look rather menacing and the rest of the figure is highly detailed, as always.
The metallic gold accents on the torso and legs look excellent and I like the decorated arms as well. Of course, C-3PO figures have occasionally included a dual-moulded silver leg, but unlike with 75419 Death Star, I can understand using the simpler version in the Advent Calendar.
Overall - A unique C-3PO minifigure is a fine addition to the calendar, albeit one consisting of pre-existing parts.

This was another one of the things I was most looking forward to getting in this calendar. When 75389 released last year, I was excited that we finally had a C-3PO head with red eyes, but I didn’t care for the set so I didn’t get it. When this calendar was revealed earlier this year, I was excited that they had put the same head in a cheaper set that I did want.
One minor nitpick though: C-3PO doesn’t have a silver leg in the Sequels, so the leg print is inaccurate. Luckily I have the minifigure from 5002948, which has the correct leg color and side leg printing, so I can single-handedly make him both more accurate and more detailed with a single part swap.
Day 3:
0 points (+ 7 from yesterday = 7): HP - STraight into the parts bin.
1 (+ 1 = 2): MC - A carpet beater!
2 (+ 5 = 7): Ct - Okay teddy. Some extra parts.
3 (+ 5 = 8): Dy - Olaf's head creeps me out, but the rest has nice value
4 (+ 6 = 10): Fr - Cosy, modern and I'm thinking about bricklinking and putting it into 41732
5 (+ 6 = 11): SW - All around well produced minifig and also one that many SW-fans might not have yet.
"The Emperor's Wayfinder is in the Imperial vault. At delta 3-6, transient 9-3-6, on a moon in the Endor system. From the southern shore, only this blade tells."
You could have just *said* that, 3PO.

"My programming forbids me from translating it."
Typical 3PO.
Disney: Cool day, sweet day (I mean, gap.) 5/5p
Friends: I like Crux's and PurpleDave's comments more than the build. 3/5p
Minecraft: Another key 3/5p
Harry Potter: 3/5p
Star Wars: 4.5/5p
This is my disguised Triple Zero minifigure and no one can tell me otherwise.

Add some syringes to the hands and you've got a decent adaption.
Oh, look, his eyes have a "festive" mode.
You can never have enough legacy characters.
I am extremely pleased with this minifig. One of the reasons why I got this calendar.
Love TLG slowly filling out the roster of Ep. IX figs that never made the cut:
Dark Rey
The resurrected Emperor
Babu Frick
And now Sith-translating C-3PO
Klaud when?

I second that question.
Ben Solo, too!
A welcome addition I must say or as a certain droid in the Return of the Jedi would say "Ah, new acquisitions! You are a protocol droid, are you not......

Heck yeah. And Leia and Rose Tico. Beaumont Kin. Sith Sovereign Protectors.
And plenty of sets that need making, the final duel being the most obvious. Ochi’s ship. The First Order UA-TT. Resistance B-Wing.
It’s a shame LEGO is experimenting with this new Smart Play gimmick in 2026 instead of filling in some gaps that they missed. I remember in 2014/15 before the newest crop of SW movies, they put out stuff like Anakin’s Azure Angel, like they knew that was their last chance in awhile to put out a set like that. After 2026, they’ll be focusing on Mando & Grogu and Starfighter and whatever else comes out.
I fear proper Ep. IX sets will continue to be neglected, so the trickle will have to suffice.
This really feels like LEGO wanted to make more sets on Episode 9, but decided to go this route.

For sure. I'm happy that we're even getting anything at all.
All of those things that you mentioned sound awesome to me! I'd also throw in the TIE Whisper.
3PO has been smoking. I don't mean that he was broken, I mean that he had been smoking something

One has to wonder if that programming (and the programmed-in prohibition against impersonating a deity) came from Anakin, was already in the droid brain Anakin scavenged, or came from somewhere else. Maybe Bail Organa had it added after Threepio had his memory wiped at the end of Episode III?

It's a decent build, but same. @Brickalili's comment was great, too.
