Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 22

Posted by ,

I was hoping yesterday's droid might be festive to some extent, so the standard Imperial Probe Droid was a little disappointing. Perhaps day 22 will bring something more Christmassy.

I hope so because there are not many days left...

I love the idea of a Christmas tree-inspired FX-6 medical droid, which participates in Darth Vader's installation in his suit. The combination of green, dark green and reddish brown is effective and I think the general shape translates very roughly to a Christmas tree, depending on how you position the arms. In addition, the trans-orange 1x1 cone placed roughly where the droid's sensor cluster should be looks nice, giving the droid a bit more life.

Overall - While relatively simple in design, the idea of a Christmas tree-themed droid is a lot of fun.

Day 22:

0 points (+ 27 from yesterday = 27): Dy - .Well, just look what the other ACs offer.
1 (+51 = 52): Fr - Definitely more value than Dy.
2 (+63 = 65): Ct - happy to see they didn't split into two days.
3 (+43 = 46): MC - modern design in nice colours
4 (+67 = 71): SW - This year, Babu found himself caught in life day mood. Having few decorations around to fit the holiday, he simply painted his trusty med-droid green.
5 (+64 = 69): HP - Cheater!

Disney: 4/5p
Friends: It has play value, but but at most only the top hat is Christmas-themed (and there is a lot of PINK). 4/5p
Minecraft: 3.5/5p
Harry Potter: 3.5/5p
Star Wars: Finally something that I like :) 4.5/5p

Is this FX-6? I assumed it was FX-7 given its vague similarity to the droid in 75203, albeit the shaping is worse. (The conical 2x2 piece should be on top, not in the middle.

Either way, I *hate* it. The FX droids have distinctive shapes, including arms that fold perfectly into the body, that just aren't conducive to building at this scale. If anyone has mod ideas on how to improve this thing, I'm all ears.

I do like it when the calendars get creative to be properly festive. It’s just fun seeing things like this and the peppermint mouse droid

I really like this one. I even used a spare 1x1 with bar & a spare transparent 1x1 to add a light on top (blue in my case to match my own tree).

I thought this is the FX-7 from Hoth Medical Chamber 75203 in festive Colours and not FX-6 ? However. I like the simple build and the Colours are perfect for an Advent Calendar.

Turning the battle droid arms around so that the stud on the https://brickset.com/parts/6253140/plate-1x1-round-w-3-2-shaft that they're clipped to nestles in their elbows might help.

As I said yesterday (https://brickset.com/article/126297/minecraft-advent-calendar-day-21), I love it when licensed AC Christmas trees tie into the license in some way.

I thought this was the FX-7 medical assistant droid found on Hoth and the medical frigate at the end of ESB.

Regardless, I love the festive build on this one and the variety on the calendar.

I lean towards an FX-6 droid because of the orange sensor cluster and how the arms are arranged, but it could be an FX-7.

Once it's been stylised twice over, there's not much to distinguish the two.

I really like this one. Especially love how the base is meant to look like a tree trunk.

Niw this is a fantastic manner to bring the festivities alongside the calendar theme.

It's ok. I think the arms in red would be a bit more festive.

Interesting build. Cool how they tried to make it festive, but overall not great.
