So plain, I have no comment.

Well I do now, this one counts.

1998? Huh. It’d have guessed more like 1978. Much lamer than the Coca-Cola figures.

I was a bit surprised to see that both of the sets this guy came in were Sports polybags.

Shouldn’t his shirt be white and his pants red?

Well the poly bag says he’s a Scottish player, so blue and white or all blue would be right. I think these days he might be earth blue though.

I can’t work out why you think he should be white and red? I’m missing something!

Ah, it's Ayden. Or Brayden. Or Grayden. Or Cayden.

Okayden.

By in Turkey,

Just the way I like it, plain and simple, with a smile...

By in United Kingdom,

Looks familiar but I can’t tell if that’s because we’ve had him as RMotD before or because he’s really really generic

By in Germany,

I am still somewhat confused about the name "World Team Footballer".

Whom are they supposed to play against? Mars?

As a Scot I'm wondering if there is the confusion on the fact Scotland plays as a country of it's own and isn't represented by England....

Or maybe because the 2002 World Cup minifigures have Coca-Cola logos as that was the competition’s sponsor and red & white are the colours of the Coke logo… just a guess.

I've gone through the history of this feature a few times, and this figure's never shown up before, although it's far from the first RMotD to have the classic smiley and no other printing.

Guess it’s the same problem Lord Business had of being too generic for scanners to identify.
Diabolical…

Somewhat likely if your legs can't move indepently.

Mars Mission aliens, on the other hand (figuratively speaking, of course, because they technically don’t have any), have a distinct advantage, since their arms are just repurposed legs, and they can strike that ball with any limb they choose.

https://brickset.com/minifigs/mm010/mars-mission-alien-commander was only the commander (as indicated in the figure name), the rank and file (https://brickset.com/minifigs/mm001/mars-mission-alien-with-marbled-glow-in-dark-torso) could only dream of being as articulated. Honestly, they could only dream of having as many as two points of articulation at all!

Same. With such a basic colour scheme, really expected this in standard town sets.

Doesn't seem like anyone has picked up on it, but "pln055" = "Poland 055".
