Random minifig of the day: cas450
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random minifigure is cas450 Kingdoms - Lion Knight Scale Mail with Chest Strap and Belt, Helmet with Neck Protector, Brown Beard Rounded, a Castle figure that came in one set, 7947 Prison Tower Rescue, released during 2010.
Our members collectively own a total of 5,542 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $16.10.

Bring back the peak Castle theme. And pirates while you're at it. And Adventurers, and Wild West, and Space.
Always funny when Bricklink comes up with long names for what look like generic army builders.
That's the look of someone who's about to start their first day on the job.
So I’m guessing this one’s the sidekick?
tis' but a scratch
very fond of the 2010 knights theme- despite the fact I didnt get many sets from it
Looks a little old to be a 'Page' or 'Squire', so I'm guessing he's a foot soldier ('til Leo...Oh, the irony there...and the rest of the TMNT show up:)). A spearman or pikeman I think.
When I built 7947 I knocked out the prison wall and added a table with potions, an orb, and an ink well to make a place for the wizard in 7955.

The irony is that it’s -because- he’s a generic army builder. So he can only be described by detailing the exact components that make him. So he gets a long mouthful of a name with the princess he’s rescuing gets to be “Lion Princess”
I wonder if he ever managed to rescue the prison-tower. I don't need to know how, just knowing the tower is safe and happy is enough for me.

Actually I think those are even more prone to long names than others.
Older minifigs had a pre-assembled head (or even were just smiley heads). Starting with Fantasy Era, the whole mix-and-match of heads and torso created way more different minifig assemblies per theme than in previous themes, making naming somewhat more complicated, despite not increasing the number of prints per new sub-theme.
Compare for example with Fright Knights from 1997-1998, which had 5 different "Upper Parts", yet still only 12 different figures (mostly 2 per part, one with neck accessory/plumes one without).
Today guy's torso alone has that many minifigs associated with.
I find it funny how there's almost in every Castle theme a figure with those light grey/black legs (if you count both old grey and bley).
Yo I have this one. My brother got almost the entire wave of these castle sets.

Iknow some of Hermione Granger's minifigs have had wordy descriptions, which is appropriate for her.

It"s the enthusiastic ones who don't last the week.

Based on Retiring sets, 2026 seems quite a sad year for classic themes unless anything gets revealed/announced soon.
Pirates will be officially gone, and no, I do not consider One Piece and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Castle will be vastly thinned down to just 1 set remaining with the newer 3-in-1 Castle with the removal of 2 major icons sets. Pretty much the only "new" known set will be that IDEAS sea serpent as GWP at some point.
Space will be down to just the City interstellar spaceship pretty much, no more Icons.

It's not a name for the minifigure, it's a description. Just like you said as years have gone by Lego comes up with more unique prints for pretty much every part of the minifigure which requires a better, longer description. If I'm trying to put minifigures together from a lot I bought I need that description to figure out what part belongs to which minifigure. The more the better as far as I'm concerned. Now BL just needs to standardize descriptive words so they are easier to find.

There’s a website where you can snap a photo of any minifig element (not sure about non-minifig elements), and it will identify the actual part. From there, you can see which minifigs or sets it was used in.
