Review: 76335 Spider-Man vs. Ghost Rider Motorcycle
Posted by CapnRex101,76335 Spider-Man vs. Ghost Rider Motorcycle is only a small set, though an appealing one given Ghost Rider's inclusion. The character has made few minifigure appearances before and never in quite such an affordable set.
Further to the appealing Ghost Rider minifigure, this version of his motorcycle is smaller and potentially easier to integrate with other sets than previous iterations. The low price of £8.99, $9.99 or €9.99 is tempting too, so this has the potential to be a must-have!
Summary

Minifigures
A new comic book Spider-Man minifigure debuted in 2021 and has appeared numerous times since. I wish the minifigures were more varied, especially because Spider-Man wears plenty of different suits in the comics, although this remains an impressive design. The web patterns and printed arms look great, even though the red on the arms is a little darker than on the torso.
This iteration of Spider-Man has included dual-moulded legs a couple of times before, so their absence is a shame, but not surprising in a small set. The minifigure is equipped with a rubber web accessory, featuring lots of connection points to use in dynamic poses.
There have been three Ghost Rider minifigures before and this one is by far the fieriest figure yet! The flames on the head and torso arguably make this design slightly less versatile than its predecessors, although I appreciate having something different and Ghost Rider's flaming skull certainly looks scary, as it should.
The trans-orange flame element connected to the head is now detachable, as it was on Green Goblin's pumpkin bombs earlier this year. The texture looks fantastic and Ghost Rider's leather jacket is excellent, decorated with an orange chain and several metallic silver spikes around the trim. Even the plain legs look alright to me.
Instead of his usual chains, Ghost Rider comes with a pair of fire accessories here. These are new elements, similar to those available in the energy blast accessory packs, though now with stud connection points on the end. Those studs will doubtless facilitate many more uses for the parts.
The Completed Model
LEGO motorcycles are often oversized and the previous two Ghost Rider Hell Cycles are truly enormous! That can be a good thing because there is more opportunity for detail, although the smaller edition available here is a fine alternative. The bike measures 14cm in length, including the flames, so it is still a decent size, but it does not overwhelm other vehicles or buildings.
The Hell Cycle is sometimes portrayed as a chopper, so the long forks and narrow front wheel work well, although I wish there was more mechanical texture. The printed 2x3 pentagonal tile looks superb, however, decorated with a longhorn skull. I think it should have been possible to build this feature, which may look better from the sides, but printing suffices.
Skeleton arms connect the printed tile and the handlebars to the motorcycle body, so you can easily move the handlebars. Even so, Ghost Rider can only actually take one pose aboard his bike, standing and leaning forward slightly. This looks alright, but I would love to see some kind of universal saddle piece produced for brick-built motorbikes, taking just a small section of the normal fairing element.
Stud shooters are mounted on each side and the flaming exhausts look great, although these exhausts are fitted with clips, so they can be dislodged. Moreover, the bodywork over the rear wheel is rather blocky, but it looks reasonable as part of the whole vehicle.
Overall
Taking the price of £8.99, $9.99 or €9.99 into consideration, 76335 Spider-Man vs. Ghost Rider Motorcycle achieves exactly what it needs to. Maybe the motorbike could be more detailed, but its shape and proportions are effective, approximating how the Hell Cycle sometimes appears in the comics.
Of course, Ghost Rider himself is the highlight and this is an excellent opportunity to collect the character. The flaming decoration is unlike his past minifigures and Ghost Rider alone will likely be enough to recommend this set to many Marvel fans.

Spider-Man having printed arms with no dual molded legs looks like a disproportionate amount of detail to me
Since I missed out on 76058, I'll be getting this one. Also, am I the only one amused that the last time the Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider appeared in a set with Spider-Man, it was a "Team-Up," but this time, it's a "vs.?"

No budget for a third, villain minifigure this time around.
Quick Lore:
Ghost Rider's Penance Stare rarely works anymore. Then again, if you beat someone over the head with a chain of fire, or just run them over with with your big fiery bike, maybe THEY aren't the one who should feel guilty afterwards.

I think this goes to show how Ghost Rider is more of an antihero like Venom from the movies

I wonder if LEGO’s internal marketing research has shown that kids prefer sets that highlight that they have a “battle out of the box” where they have both a hero and villain figure rather than just heroes.

Agreed, LEGO makes plenty of dual-molded legs, and you can frequently find them at the minifigure stations in LEGO Stores, so by now they should be mandatory for Spidey.
That said, for we do get an excellent Ghostrider minifig and a substantial motorbike for a very fair price (I think), so Spidey feels like a bonus on this set.
"affordable price" but still pretty expensive regarding $/piece.
Is an apple for 10 bucks also offering an affordable price? The price does not matter in the slightest, it's what you get for your money.

Two minifigures á ~5 Europoundbucks each. Hey, free bike!

This is a contradictory statement as you cannot determine the value of a product without understanding the relevance of the price. Also smaller sets like this are more designed to be an accessible cheap way to get desirable minifigures, which is why price per piece is flawed regarding cheap sets/battle packs.

Yeah, I don't have a whole lot of knowledge of the character (the only Ghost Rider media I've consumed is the Nic Cage movie) but I was thinking something along the same lines, myself.

I'l agree that Ghost Rider is a nice minifig, but he's the only one of the two that's anywhere near CMF standards, so that price is still a bit steep. But it's still a pocket money set, so nitpicking cost can only go so far.

I recall the first time I saw Ghost Rider, it was in a The Incredible Hulk cartoon, and he was after the Hulk in the mistaken belief that the Hulk was evil. Could be that’s what’s going on here.
