Random minifig of the day: gen145

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is gen145 Play Day 2019 Creative, a LEGO Brand figure that came in one set, 4000036 LEGO Play Day [2019] polybag, released during 2019.

Our members collectively own a total of 344 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $7.00.

That was quick. Also, can we get some better photography? Oof.

I'd say there are worse quality images. Giving the oddity of the set, hm sort of unlikely.

So, do I get it right that RMotD does not check for already made entries?

RSotD/VSotW check Brickset's database, where the sets are flagged as having been picked. Minifig data gets pulled from Bricklink daily, and all that data gets overwritten in the process. So, even if it bothered to check, there wouldn't be any minifigs that are flagged as having been picked once the database gets updated.

No, since minifig data comes from Bricklink, not Lego. Bricklink sometimes changes minifig designations, so locking out a previously-selected minifig raises the possibility that things could get rearranged enough that a minifig could get a designation that's already been used, thus preventing the minifig from ever being available for RMotD, although the most common re-designation, from what I can tell, is minifigs from a given line going from three-digit numbers to four-digit. If you go through the history of this feature, you'll see a *lot* of pages with no picture, because Super Heroes, Ninjago, and Friends have all had that happen since the feature began.

Between this lady and the Scala, getting some serious Deja vu from RMotD lately

That’s a separate issue, which is why some entries fail to load images after the numbering gets a digit added for a specific theme (most recently, this impacted Friends minidolls, I believe). The actual data gets wiped out daily, so there’s no way to even track which ones have been picked without manually adding them to a database. BL notoriously doesn’t like reusing old ID numbers, so you could probably trust that, once a minifig has been assigned a new number, the old number will be retired, which would prevent previous appearances from being reassigned to different minifigs.

Overall, I have nothing to say about this figure.
