2025 has been an extraordinarily busy year, with over 840 sets launched across 42 themes and well over 1100 minifigures and characters!
As usual, we are inviting Brickset members to choose their favourites across four categories, answering these questions:
- What is your favourite set released in 2025?
- What is your favourite set costing below $50 of 2025?*
- What is your favourite gift-with-purchase set of 2025?
- What is your favourite minifigure released in 2025?**

Lots of amazing sets.
Best set: Beauty and the beast castle, adventure in transylvania, mushroom village, friends plant cafe, tudor corner, italian riviera, emerald city wall art, going merry pirate ship, twilight cullen house, … all great contenders, but it’s got to go to the Nintendo Game Boy!
For below 50$: 2 fast 2 furious Honda, miles morales vs the spot, windmill village, party at toad’s house, music shop and apartment, holiday camper van … are all amazing, but my favourite has to be the happy plants set!
Gift-with-purchase: baby astronaut, period. (Though I love the tribute to jane austen, sega genesis controller and the disney classic animation scenes)
Best minifigure: wolfpack beastmaster, buggy the clown, spider-punk, monkey d luffy, hottub stormtrooper … but my favourite is the Glinda in lavender dress minifigure.
I admittedly don't own all of these; but looking through my liked / wanted lists for this year it's honestly a pretty easy choice for me this time...! If I have one regret, it's that these are all from licensed themes; but none of Lego's original properties have quite clicked with me this year.
Overall: 43279 (WALL-E and EVE) - I love these; they're such fun renditions of what have always been fantastic character designs.
<$50: 75400 (Plo Koon's Jedi Microfighter) - so fun and swooshable, not to mention my childhood favourite minor Jedi's first appearance in such an affordable set!
GWP: 40774 (Classic Animation Scenes) - I couldn't pick any other, both movies represented are hugely significant ones for me and I love the idea of getting miniature scenes from each of them.
Minifigure: https://brickset.com/minifigs/colspi02 (Hobie) - a fun character to get the minifigure treatment for the first time (even if I feel like he misses a little something of his in-movie collage aesthetic in the transition to the plastic) with a fantastic hairpiece to boot!

...I can go on honestly. It has been a good year for Star Wars minifigures, especially prequel era characters.

Why not create a form, so we can vote on sets per theme, and then go on from there? We all know either Tudor Corner or some expensive licensed set is going to 'win' this, while not necessarily being the 'best' set. After all, those are the ones we best remember.
That said: Tudor Corner is absolutely great, and Spider-Punk has to be my favourite minifig of 2025, even if I don't nearly remember all of the 1,100 that were made...
My favorite GWP is 40778 Winter Gazebo, and that was the only one that made me do an additional purchase.
My favourite under 50? Perhaps 43277 Cruella De Vil's Car.

I know the last one doesn't stand a chance, but it simply is the best dragon ever made. If this set also had a knight, it would have been absolutely perfect.

People discuss the best way to conduct this kind of survey every year, but I think the simplest and most open method tends to yield fair results. Dividing the vote by theme would surely mean some themes are disproportionately represented, even if it would probably raise the profile of certain sets.

It's actually my pick for both categories, best set and best set under $50. Seriously I hope we get another lego set like this in 2026. Such a shame its not as highly regarded in the larger lego community. Such an underrated gem.

Small set:

I haven't had this much fun building my own minibuilds since the X-pods. This one edges out slightly over the 71488 Bunchu counterpart because of the more coherent color scheme and the less specialized parts. A 20-in-1 is just fun!
Large set
60446 Galactic Spaceship
This is just an all around great set. The modularity is on point and it actualy has a nice, full interior with some space efficient furniture. And with the drone and meteors it has good play potential. And this is one of the better cases of modules forming a smaller ship and a ground base. It's just modern lego space at its best.
10355 Renegade is a close second.
In hand it's just a really fun model. It too makes good use of modules, but it's more detailed. There is no interior outside the cockpit, but in return it feels very utilitarian. I'm very glad to own it!

Favourite set below $50: 77242 Ferrari SF-24 (but, in general, any Speed Champions Formula 1 car). I found myself buying two of some of them to have one for display and one for playing with my kids.

I did not buy a lot of sets from 2025. That doesn’t mean I didn’t buy a lot of Lego in 2025… but I haven’t bought a ton of sets from this year. And furthermore, I have not built many of the sets that I have, from 10355, to 43279. But still, here’s the list:

I am sure that I will love 43279, and I thoroughly loved 910050, but for things that I have built, that is my choice. It is truly an outstanding build. Below $50 is pretty tough. 10349 was cute and nice, but 10363 is the choice. For favorite GWP, it really isn’t a contest. I got several this year, but I still haven’t gotten 40767. I will most certainly in the future. There are two minifigures this year that I truly love, both as outstanding minifigures, and for custom potential. Both hit that mark extremely well, but the Beastmaster just edges https://brickset.com/minifigs/sw1424/obi-wan-kenobi-clone-wars-printed-arms-and-legs. Both are definitely worthy.

It was weird using the filters on the query as many of the minifigs (but not all) are apparently categorized by overarching group membership as opposed to their originating set’s LEGO theme.
I would also like to point out that Dreamzzz seems to have the best collection of minifigs each year. I would happily support many of those.
I based all my choices off the sets I got this year... which are more limited than some of the others, so it looks like a lot of my choices aren't popular, heh. In particular, I really liked a lot of the Creator 3 in 1 animals they did this year.
