By in United States,

I prefer the DX outfits. Or the NRG outfits. Except Nya's, which was not that at all.

By in New Zealand,

I've got this one. I honestly don't have any dislikes for the Ninja suits from Season 1. They are all peak.

This outfit could still work alongside the original Ninja line. But not the original Blacktron line. Or any Blacktron line. Too much blue. Cole would make a better Blacktron.

Ah yes, a reminder that next year’s Legacy Ninja aren’t accurate to the original ZX designs. Just what we needed…not.

Should’ve had a chromed arm…

Jay ZX!
...I don't have this one. My brother got the booster pack 9553 back in the day, where Jay has the proper armor piece. Still, the ZX suits are among my favorite Ninja outfits, alongside the kimono and deepstone suits.

Exactly. I guess the real legacy of Ninjago is that accuracy to source material doesn't matter to the Ninjago design team... and TBH that has been true since the beginning, but I've always hoped the Legacy designs would make the effort to do things properly. Alas! Money saved for me.

Got him, 'cuz...and there across the room...on the bookcase, sitting next to 'The Chunky Monkey' (aka: 7067: Jet-Copter Encounter)...sits one of THE BEST JET FIGH...er, PLANES TLG HAS EVER PUT OUT: 9442: Jay's Storm Fighter!!! I mean; the plane's been 'redone', what 2-3 times, and original is still the best (well, IMHO). Plus, I think it helped 'cementing' Jay as my fave character; and was my 'gateway' into liking Ninjago, so overall...not bad:D

Looks charmingly basic compared to the straps-and-pockets-everywhere designs modern Ninjago figures get

I'm pretty sure that 9442 was the first Ninjago set I ever got. But I'd love to have 70668.

Yeah, you don't want to get too close to Rob Liefeld territory.

By in Netherlands,

I have both of the sets this Jay appears in. The Jumping Snakes one is one of those sets that are not particularly good, but it's so strange and specific it becomes kind of charming. For that one it's understandable the shoulder armor was omitted.

The jet is less forgivable, but I guess it's not too bad. My main issue with that one is that he gets no accessories of his own. There are torches, Snappa's spear and of course the staff, but outside of maybe the weird blades on the side of the cockpit (which I find a stretch), Jay gets the jet and nothing else.

Anyway, the fig feels a bit unbalanced without the shoulder armor, but it's nothing too bad. The asymmetrical arm is still fun and the hood with printed silver decoration is great.
