There's the Stat ars/Star Trek crossover we need. The ISB baseball team against the Niners from DS9.

Nice to have some unique imp forces. Would also like to see remade Range troopers in a TIE Avenger set

I hate star wars but recently completed season one of Andor. (it came recommended).

While I have zero interest in the subject matter, I thought I would comment that the designers have done an excellent job with the Space Gestapo lady and Cassian Andor.

Straight away I recognised them from the show, and clicked on the article, so obviously very talented graphic designers (do lego minifigure designers have a proper title?)

Likewise when watching the early episodes the corporate uniforms seemed familiar and sure enough Id seen them in the Lego Ambush on Ferrix set.

Again well done, though a slightly different hair piece for Stellan Skarsgard's character wouldve been better.

I've just started watching the series a few days ago, so I felt the need to get out 75338 and rebuild it.

Andor is GOOOOD. And the beauty of it is you can either watch it as a Star Wars show, or ignore the Star Warsy part of it entirely and watch it as a very good espionage thriller with real-life influences.

I say get stuck into season 2 as soon as you can. It'll help enlighten the viewer on some.... very recent happenings.

I don't get it. What is it about this figure that implies baseball?

I agree with your argument and thats what the recommendation said to me, the politics and espionage, betrayals etc. is all good.

I can definitely see all the real life influences (the Space Gestapo literally take over a hotel which is what the Gestapo, Stasi, NKVD etc. did),
the secret radios,
guerilla warfare (they didnt even try making the AK47s look like space blasters lol),
the attack on 'a certain installation' (youll know since youve watched the show), was remarkably similar to a Force 10 from Navarone by Alistair Maclean
The jackboots, baggy trousers and trenchcoats, also field caps, straight out of N @zi wardrobe. The Doctor Gast or whatever his name was, same thing.
There was a hover jeep type vehicle in the last episode with (clearly a .50 cal machine gun) on the back. Apparently in the original star wars movies these vehicles were literally 1970s Kubelwagens (Kubelwagen was the WWII German equivalent of the American jeep)

Overall yeah no it was pretty good, I just get annoyed that how much of it comes from various influences like if I showed someone The Guns of Navarone or The Dambusters theyd be like waaa not interested, boring, history etc.
George Lucas or whoever chucks a couple of ugly as hell aliens in, makes the motorcycles hover and WWII era guns shoot lights and now everyones like WOW!!! OMG OMG That's AMAAAAZZIINNNGG OMG THIS IS SO COOOOL. It's literally the same stories, even same uniforms and characterisations. (eg. the Scottish sergeant, the overzealous young officer, the determined Aryan Gestapo lady, the aloof old 'handler', the bickering guerilla team where everyone has dubious motives), Id continue but others would likely complain of spoilers.

The attack on the Death Star Lucas took directly from The Dambusters, including lines of dialogue from the 1950s war movie that didnt make 100% sense in the sci fi context. (the scene was then reused in one of the modern movies. Like cmon guys, best plot you could come up with was Death Star but bigger??)

Anyway off topic, glad you enjoyed it and yeah no lego has done a very good job when a non-SW fan like myself can look at a set or minifigure and know exactly what it represents. :)

Such a good minifigure. The whole set and all of the included minifigures are great.

Lucas also took a good bit from Akira Kurosawa films. (Side note: My spellcheck knows "Kurosawa" but not "Akira." Interesting...)

Baseball cap. But of the style worn a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

Man, this is a cool minifig!

By in United Kingdom,

Famously useless though Stormtrooper armour may be, you would have thought if he was going to put that much of it on he’d also go for a helmet. No point layering up if you’re going to leave you’re biggest weak spot exposed, the rebels can actually hit their targets!

Yes! Very true. There's side by side frame comparisons for some films. In Andor the Japanese based robes (not sure the proper name) were hard to ignore.

I also forgot to mention the oversized Stalhelms. Plus the very phrase 'stormtroopers'.

I liked Spaceballs for making fun of it all and Night at the Museum 2

-Referring to Darth Vader-

"Is that you breathing? Because I can't hear myself think."

-Darth Vader tries to do the force choke.-

-Imitating it- "What is this? What does it mean?"

"Let me just simplify my friend, there's just too much going on here. You're evil, you're asthmatic, you're a robot....and what is the cape for? Are we going to the opera? I don't think so."

By in United Kingdom,

The U-Wing is a great set, but the fact that there were no other Andor sets this year was a big letdown in my eyes.

For anyone interested, the guy who did the 4-hour RotS/Siege of Mandalore cut is also making an 'Andor' cut of Rogue One, using cues, music and flashbacks from Andor to pull it together as the 'part 3' of the Andor trilogy. The bloke's name is David Kaylor, over on yt.

It looks like an Imperial officer in stormtrooper uniform.

Really wish we could have got more Andor sets, Luthans shop would have been brilliant for all the references they could have filled it with

By in Germany,

Lego refuses to do battle packs of minifigures that would actually need battle packs. You see tons of these guys in the show - wdym he only appeared once in a $70 set?!

I know plenty of folks are eager to see a TIE Avenger.

Personally, I’d love if the TIE Defender worked its way into an upcoming project so Lego would finally remake that guy as something more than a magazine gift.

Are you not aware of 8087? Sure, it's sixteen years old, but it's still a TIE Defender. And it's a pre-Disney buyout set, too! I always loved it when Lego did stuff from the EU back then. My dream Lego Star wars set has long been Mara Jade's Z-95 Headhunter, although I wouldn't have said no to Corran Horn's X-Wing.

By in United States,

I didn't visit the site yesterday, and when I looked at the sidebar to see yesterdays random mini figure I thought for a moment that maybe there were two in a row from the same set.
