Random figure of the day: bat023
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random figure is bat023 The Riddler - Black Hair, Jet Pack, a Batman I figure that came in one set, 7787 The Bat-Tank: The Riddler and Bane's Hideout, released during 2007.
Our members collectively own a total of 1,422 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $53.60.

A really nice minifig!
Riddle me this, Batman: why is this set so expensive?
This Riddler somehow seems cool in spite of the skintight suit. Normally Rddlers look like loons at worst and overly devoted to a gimmick at best. But this version seems to have some class. I think it's because he seems genuinely ripped and the black hair is classy?
one green boi VS A FREAKING TANK
seem all fair
Tha Riddla

Not ripped (as far as we can tell), but https://brickset.com/minifigs/sh0334/the-riddler-suit-and-tie-hat-with-hair is the classiest Riddler IMHO. It's the jaunty angle of his hat.

No, the tank also has to contend with a muscle guy.

That's what I was wondering about this minifig too.
It doesn't look bad, mind you, but it's certainly nothing to write home about either.
Riddle me this, Batman!
Though some say I’m black as night,
Others say I’m stuffed in tight!
What am I!

It doesn’t help that this was the coolest version from the original Batman theme. And it doesn’t help that the guy who was selling counterfeit prints on Bricklink is gone.
The set was limited release to Toys R Us and US Lego Stores were not widespread at the time. If you saw the set in a store, typically it did not sit long to warm the shelf.
I liked that the original Riddler (and Robin) had less-defined muscles than Batman did, unlike the first DCSH Riddler.

Batman and Robin (Hood)?"
I was going for jetpack (as in jet black and packed tight) since that's what he's wearing but honestly yours works too XD
@Norikins it’s almost 20 years old, it’s by far the superior Lego Bat-Tank, and the Lego aftermarket is often a terrible place.
@Worrissey technically it was one green boi and one guy dressed like a homicidal luchador. But yeah, definitely one of those sets where one side is at a distinct disadvantage.
