I think it's cool when Star Wars figures come with headgear like that.

Another reminder of how Lego currently neglects the Separatists.

Coming up on three decades since The Phantom Menace, and the only Nemoidian figures we have are this rando and a couple variants of Nute Ray Gun.

Dang, I think I had the Hasbro action figure for this guy. Sorry I missed out on the LEGO version.

You mean how the only generic Neimoidian they made was from their ancient conquistador days?

They lost the war, they can't afford more sets.

The stickers on that vulture droid’s saucer pieces, no thank you.

First they’re going to blockade Naboo and then they’re going to ransack South America, looking at that getup

Is it even *possible* to get stickers straight on such quarter-circle parts, apart from sheer luck? I bet they stickered at least a dozen of them, and then selected the two least wonky ones for the set photo.

Brown Conquistador helmet is great. Shame it didnt ever make it to pirates. Couldve made a good rusty helmet on a skeleton at an island for example.

This helmet has (sadly) almost certainly been retired, as this was the last time it appeared in any set.

Yeah, Lego decommissions and destroys molds that go unused for five years. They keep the digital files to bring the mold back if needed, though, since storing those requires no effort.

They don’t necessarily even wait five years to destroy them. The design leads do a planning session once per year to determine which molds should be kept and which can be retired, with the goal of _not_ spending money on five years of upkeep for a mold that’s sitting fallow. Five years is the point where you spent enough money to just make a new one, so waiting that long doesn’t save any money. Going longer is just excessively wasteful.

No one expects the Naboo Inquisition!!

Among our chief weapons are:
1) intractable trade disputes;
2) large, circular spaceships;
3) wonky, cowardly, smart-ass droids;
4) fanatical devotion to mysterious Sith, and....
5) STUNTED SLIME!!!

interesting! It looks like the last set prior to this one was 2009, so maybe a set designer used it here to reset the timer on this mold one more time

I mostly recognise this guy from chopping my way through several of them during the "Anakin's Dark Side Rampage Through Mustafar" level of the Revenge of the Sith video game adaption. I remember they made good targets for zapping around with the force lightning powers that the game gifted to Anakin after he went Dark Side, despite said powers being entirely non-canonical for him...
