And the winners are...
Posted by Huw,After not much deliberation, the seven judges have made their decision. The winners of the Mixels series four building competition are...
1st place: 400010 The LEGO House
Garnering the most first place votes was this fiery entry by atkinsar, whom you may recognize as a Brickset administrator. Here are some comments from the judges:
- SirKevBags: "I am a fan of mythology, and even though a lot of models have only one eye, this one was actually called a cyclops, so it got my vote."
- LostInTranslation: "This cute little guy has the proverbial fire in his belly."
2nd place: Complete collection of TRU Bricktober sets
Coincidentally, the second prize winner also was an entry from a Brickset admin. This time it's DrDave who offers up this space voyager. A boon for me since I can hand Dave his prize in person and save on shipping.
- Huw: "It's a model that looks to have used most of the available parts. It looks almost cuddly, like something out of a toddlers TV programme."
- LostInTranslation "So much detail, I love how the plumage has been created. "
3rd place: Complete collection of TRU Bricktober sets
Third place would almost complete a podium sweep for models built by staff members, but this adorable gargoyle was actually made by Brickset admin rocao's five year old daughter. I can't remember if I placed an age restriction on the competition, but if so I'm willing to overlook it based on the skill of this model.
- DrDave says "My heart melted the moment I saw this one - so cute!
Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to everyone who took part. Better luck next time!

Very Amusing Huw :)
Evil.
My entry was failed to be judged, called :Red 2x4 Brick.
Uh ... April Fools? :P
Haha. Good one, Huw! Jokes on us all... Right?
Congrats!
Are the first two models rendered images?
I haven't worked out who posted this yet but I have a few ideas :-)
Congratulations to all winners!! Their models are so good that I think even TLG would accept them as official sets/max models. XD
Yeah, anticipation of the results is simply too good opportunity for April fools joke to miss... Nice one...
But ,Huw, haven't you already sold this website last year? :-)
I agree with these winners about as much as I agree with the choice of winners in the last two contests.
"Every model is so dense, there's so much going on."
A few people in this crowd should get that reference.
Not until I saw that last picture did I realize this was a joke... very clever guys!
Seems legit. :P
Who's been putting words into my mouth?!
Very good choices. I think the Lego Group would approve of these models. Not to mention, the backdrops are very realistic. Good choices all!
This made my day, the comments to this are just the cherry on top.
This competition was a sham!
The clear winner was this fine creation: http://images.brickset.com/sets/images/41502-1.jpg?201312240407
haha, I didn't realize this is a joke at first, but think those photo links are wrongly directed. Thanks Huw for the laughter
This is very nice :) One of the most entertaining posts I've read relating to LEGO in a while.
The judges' comments are fantastic. Omg.
When will you announce the fourth, fifth, and sixth place winners?
These are all horrible!! Why, I bet an official LEGO Mixel designer could do 1,000 times better than this junk. They'd probably be completely embarrassed if they saw these. These "winners" are a joke.
LOL! What a great April Fools joke! Reading through these comments some got fooled which makes it even funnier.
lol, nice try
April Fools?
This is really well done :-) we get two jokes for the price of one?
Great that some people actually are fooled as well :-)
it almost got me, mostly because it's april 2nd here lol
