Review: 41608 Han Solo
Posted by CapnRex101,
Han Solo is arguably the most popular character from the entire Star Wars saga and many fans, myself included, have therefore been looking forward to the BrickHeadz rendition of this infamous smuggler.
41608 Han Solo is based upon the character as he appears in Solo: A Star Wars Story so is not exactly what I had in mind. However, I like the new costume and Han's hair looks brilliant in official images so I have high expectations for this model.
The Completed Model
BrickHeadz are often distinguished by their hair style and that is one of Han Solo's most recognisable features so it is of vital importance on this figure. Fortunately, I think the designer has captured Han's likeness reasonably well, constructing his prominent parting using 1x2 curved slopes and 1x1 slopes which align nicely. This should really be offset very slightly but such subtle detail is difficult to replicate at a small scale.
The hair consists of several 1x2 curved slopes on top so looks very simple, although this conveys the idea of a central parting effectively. I like the texturing around the back and sides of the figure and this includes a few reddish brown 1x1 quarter circle tiles which have only previously appeared in 41600 Aquaman and 41602 Rey.
Han wears a new leather jacket over a black shirt during Solo: A Star Wars Story. The jacket appears brown in promotional material for the movie but is medium nougat here to avoid conflicting with Han's reddish brown hair. I think this is a reasonable compromise and I like the printed patch on the jacket's left breast as well as the open-necked shirt in the centre. The light bluish grey belt buckle is simple but looks good too.
Just four pieces form Han Solo's famous DL-44 blaster pistol. BrickHeadz weapons are often extremely simple and this is no exception, although it would be difficult to capture much more detail without the blaster looking too large in relation to the model. A functional holster for the pistol would have been brilliant but this 1x2 tile is satisfactory and I like how the reddish brown bracket to which the tile is attached replicates the strap worn around Han's thigh in the film.
Overall
This is probably my favourite of the six Star Wars BrickHeadz which have been released so far. Han's unique hair style has been captured beautifully and I like the combination of black and medium nougat for his shirt and jacket. The design is faithful to the character as he appears in Solo: A Star Wars Story and I think Han looks great on display beside 41609 Chewbacca, although Chewbacca himself is not as impressive as I was hoping.

While I am sure that there will be a lot of people that are upset that it is not the OT Han solo, I like the fact that Lego is doing things based on the movies that are coming out. With the release of the Solo movie it makes more sense as a brand to show the version that will be out. I am sure that there will be a OT version that will come out in the BH line up soon enough.
Why so many BrickHeadz reviews? they are very very similar, IMO. The hair is the most significance difference; it seems hairstyle reviews.
What’s the ewok-like thing standing next to Han?
Again an awful looking brickhead, me & the wife between us own probably the best ones lego has made yet,
Star wars saga still great but these monstrosities need scrapping for parts lol..
@Farlander there has been 19 reviews this month with only 5 being BH.
I'm a huge fan of Brickheadz, but these don't interest me much. Probably because I don't have high hopes for the Solo movie.
@jonmdudley but all 5 have been in a row and 5 reviews out of 19 is a lot considering how many different themes there are
Huw, I believe Han’s blaster has more pieces with a 1X1 clip and a silver stud.
Have they stopped putting the printed series 2x4 tile in with these sets now?
Have LEGO ceased including a printed Brickheadz tile for the base/stand for the model?
Yes it seems they have given up on assigning them series numbers. I think the DC ones released this year are the only ones labelled series 2.
They don't need labels. Plus I think with Go Brick Me, which is awesome, LEGO wanted to have a universal base and Go Brick Me wouldn't have a label.
I agree the models don't need a label but having some convention exclusives, store exclusives, some with series 1 and some with series 2 and then the calendar seasonal sets it's all a bit inconsistent isn't it?
Overall I'd say a pretty fine rendition of my namesake. A bit confused about the blaster though; the article states it consists of four pieces, yet I only see two in the photos? This may end up being the first BH set I buy, although reluctantly as I'm worried I'll enjoy them more than I expect to, and thus another endless money pit of collecting ensues...
Seems I missed two off...
Thanks for the clarification Huw :) I was beginning to question my parts recognition capabilities lol.
I just don't get brickheadz, but I gotta admit they nailed the hair on this one.
They got the hair all wrong in my opinion. Looks less like Harrison Ford and more like Brendan Fraser.
Oddly, I actually think Chewie looks a lot better when he's standing next to Han. Might pick these two up.
@Spartan Ghost Lol, i actually totally agree. That’s not Han Solo, that’s Nick Bluetooth!
This one looks great! I haven't decided how many of these I want to get yet but I think I'm collecting all the Star Wars ones at least.
This looks way better than Chewie.
Will Go Brick Me allow me to go back in time, to when I had hair?
@Ladonorf, that’s because Han isn’t played by Ford in the Solo movie. It’s Alden Ehrenreich.
Just ordered mine, together with the other 6 new BH's.
