I don't know what makes a classic so amazing. Weather it's the sturdy base, or the opening back, this set is amazing! Everyone who is a Lego collecter should buy this set!Include mini guys, awesome base and space ship. And a moon buggy.Overall five stars!
I got this set for my 8th birthday in 1979 and i still have it today. I never get tired of looking at it 29 years later and i'm so glad i never let my mom give it away. It truly is a classic set that can stand up to any new lego set today.
Being a child i didnt like to build it because it had so many confusing grey parts. But once you have finished, it was pure joy. Until now, in my opinion, its the most impressive of all space sets. It has a great playability, its not overboarded with useless details but still with the perfect amount of them, so it is really something special. The big brother of the LL918 it was.The space station is nice also, and the little buggy was increasing the playability of it. 4 minifigs and some walkie talkies, what more should you want? Maybe lego star wars is nice, but this is the thing for me ;)
I got this set when I was 10 years old. I saved up for months. This set, set the bar for all the space sets to come. This was also the start of the cool minifigs. This was one of the best value for money and included many unique elements going away from the basic ones. I really liked the cockpit design and opening cargo doors which releases the little vehicle.Definately in my top 10.Great achivement LEGO.
This was my first really big lego set. I got it for christmas in 1981 (When I was 6) and I couldn't have been happier! The ship was so large it could fit two lego space cars inside, which was unheard of at the time. I think this is the set I have played most with before destroying it for other building projects. I built a similar kind of spaceship for my 6 year old daughter recently, and sure enough her Barbies got a nice, long break. A true classic!
