Black Knight's Castle

This set is AWESOME, stop reading and go and get it.

Almost lego perfection, certainly the best castle using a raised base plate, and the most asthetically pleasing castle ever.

The minifigs are brilliant almsot all different, the mounted knights look superb when all plumed up and the rest of the men all have a good mixture of weapons.

The front tower is stunning with brilliant mix of colour and inverted slopes. The door mechanism for the ghosts tower is also a lovely touch. The Castle features hinged section to the dungeon and small living area with table and brilliantly finished by mock tudor wall panals.

There is a small eascape rout out the back which brings up the only slight glitch with this set. The back is very weak compared to the fron and sides. It features a layer of black then grey bricks which doesn't really work. This should not deter you from picking up this set at any cost, the easiest five stars i've ever given.

Pros
Cool minifigs and asortmenet of bardings and weapons.
Brilliant front tower with improved portcullis.
Lovely mix of colours and use of tudor style panals.
Lots of hidden sections and nice living area.

Cons
just the back section, thats it.
Oh and the grey bits that the portcullis slides down look messy on the side of the tower.

Black Knight's Castle

My favourite lego set.

Posted by Snickelfritz in Canada on 15 July 2009

I bought this set last year on bricklink, and I think it is great. Personally, what I like most about this set is the 4 mounted knights, especially the 3 plumed ones with the barding. This is one of the largest castles in the lego system. There is a great selection of pieces, and a lot of minifigs. Overall this set is worth buying, so If you come across it used for around $150, you should look into it.

Black Knight's Castle

The best Castle ever made

Posted by OWF in Romania on 20 September 2008

Comparing with all other castles, I'm sure this is the most realistic one.
Not as big and impressive as Royal Knights castle, and not as beautiful as King Leo's Castle, this set is the best because of castle structure and minifigs.
Not too small or too big, this set includes over 500 pieces where can be found a great baseplate, beautiful marked walls, 12 minifgs (Cavaliers, archers, ghost) and 4 horses.
This set is the only one where we can find 12 minifigs and 4 horses, usually maximum being 10 minifigs and 3 horses on the most largest sets.

This castle it's elegant and beautiful.

Black Knight's Castle

The Ultimate Lego Castle. Period.

Posted by horak in United States on 12 March 2008

Nothing can compare to this Lego Castle set. The barding, the minifigs, tudor walls, colors and the design make this Castle set the best ever. Contrary to the views of some, the set is expandable in spite of the raised baseplate; you just need the right bricks and it is doable. I'm so glad that I have this set (well, actually 4 of them!)

Black Knight's Castle

Anyone can see that this set is incredible. One of the many great things about it is the various creative building techniques. Nothing special, but when it came out it was pretty unique. Love the yellow castle walls and the various doors.

My first big castle and I still love it. It is too bad that the white dragon plumes are so rare, wouldn't mind having several more sets.
