7236-1: Police Car

Stop trouble before it starts!

The police car is on patrol, keeping the city streets safe! The police officer has his radar gun to watch for speeders. When he spots one, he takes off in his super-fast police car and tracks the driver down! Includes police officer mini-figure.

Patethic little Radar

Posted by CityCaretaker6213 in United States on 11 November 2009

This is my first review on this, uh, Police Car? I got this set a few months ago and didn't know this was a 2005 set. Let's get to the Pros and Cons.

Pros:

Awesome Car
Good amount of pieces
The radar piece can be used as a megaphone
Revenge of the SMILEY FACES! (LOL)

Cons:

Radar
No criminals :(
Not enough space for a criminal to be put
Antenaes?
$6.00 for this?
Bar thingy?

All in all, I give it a 3.

Good … For The Money…

Posted by LegoCoastalPatrol in United Kingdom on 02 October 2009

After purchasing and building this set and the 4WD with Horsebox (7635) I am starting to wonder if Lego have ‘rushed’ a few sets to get them on the shelves! I mean this is a great looking set, but seems to lack a degree of thought. This has been documented previously by other reviewers, but where is the handheld radio and portable speed camera supposed to be stored when the car is in motion? Why have Lego started to go for the ‘no doors’ approach to their latest vehicles? I am hoping to get hold of Prisoner Transport as my next set (7245) which should display nicely with this police car, but again, that set has no cab doors.

Anyway as for this set, you get an attractive little police car, a uniformed Traffic Cop and a portable speed gun with display. I think the car looks just right, the wheels fit snugly into the wheel arches, simple front bumper with grill and lights, high mounted blue ‘lights’ and twin antennae. There are also tinted windows and a choice of either German or English graphics (stickers).

I’m really pleased with this set for the money, it looks good on my bookshelf but there are a few flaws with it which I am overlooking as the price was good and I display mine with the police car parked, the officer using the camera with radio in hand ready to contact his colleague waiting further down the road ;o)

I’ll let you know my thoughts on the Prisoner Transport when I get it.

Great Value!

Posted by starwarsgeek101 in United States on 25 June 2009

This set is very useful if you are trying to build a town. It doesn't take up much space and it's only $5.99, even though I had to buy it for $8. It is very easy to build and it brings lots of enjoyment to those who build it. The only flaw is that the officer's stand, or speed gun, won't fit into the back of his car. If the officer also catches a criminal, he has no where to put him! But the value of this set is just to hard to resist.

Well.................

Posted by Johnny Cogs in United Kingdom on 25 April 2009

This is my first review, so apologies if it's a bit ropey.

Anyway, this little "cheapie" was my first city purchase (recently had a baby boy, so starting his collection early (ahem) and by all accounts, for the money I think it's a decent little buy.
BUT 24 hours later I decided it annoyed me and I had to modify it a little, basically, I thought the lightbar sat too high and looked daft, I'm not really a fan of the one block space between the front and rear windows and, tbh the bonnet was a bit long for my liking, also, the kit came with a spare tr-blue and tr-red cheeser's. well it would have been rude not to use them!

pics here.

So basically I've moved the windscreen forward 1 row and dropped the lightbar in the gap, ontop of the 4x2 that previously lived below the rear screen, that I've replaced with two grey l pieces, which gives the added bonus of freeing up space to store the radio!

Other than that little change though I like the "new" bits that come with this kit (new to me, anyway) the wheelarch pieces I actually quite like, the wheels are robust and fun, but the stickers. oh the stickers. well I guess I can live with them for now. tbh thought there really was no need for stickers in this kit, printed panels would surely have been easy.

Oh, and what's with that speed camera/radar thing? pah, straight in the spares bag (except the PRINTED speed reader panel, which is now the cars dashboard!)

So basically for the couple of quid I payed for it, it's a wicked little, fun, adaptable piece which can kickstart a lego addiction with ease and, as another brickset user said, you can never have too many Police cars! (he says blushing). definately a 4/5

Comes in two different flavours.

This is the first set I ever saw with the new mudguard pieces, and I was instantly revolted... that was four years ago. Since then the mudguards have been applied to practically every lego vehicle, and even used for more imaginative things, like for windows in the Cafe Corner. I guess that's when I finally accepted them, when I saw it demonstrated that they could be something OTHER than just mudguards.

There isn't anything particularly noteworthy or special about this set... I bought it because I'm building a 'rural' community, and all the other police vehicles seem too big for a small town.
