Reminder: Exo-Suit signing at Bluewater tomorrow
Posted by Huw,
Just in case you've forgotten, Peter Reid will be at Bluewater tomorrow from 12 - 4pm signing Exo-Suit boxes.
If you see me, come and ask 'Are you Huw from Brickset?' and I'll give you a TLM poly (while stocks last). And, if you see Andy from MinifigForLife say hi to him too. He's also doing 'a fun friendly giveaway, no promises and no hassle': a salvage team pauldron (pictured -- but not the minifig!) that I reckon will look great on Pete and Yve's minifig shoulders. Our giveaways will be conducted outside the shop: we don't want to cause the shop staff any hassle.
I'll be wearing a green classic space T-Shirt and I encourage you to wear something green too. I'm not sure how long I'll be there but I'll certainly be there at midday. I hope to see you then!

So looking forward to this. But now I am torn between wearing a green non-LEGO t-shirt or a LEGO non-green shirt. Oh my life is full of hard decisions.
i have that dilemma too. "green non lego" or "non green lego" related tshirt... decisions
I have a slightly worse dilemma, I have green LEGO related t-shirt but can't make it.
Sadly, I won't be able to make it. I also don't have anything green or LEGO-related to wear...
Just a note that Huw probably won't be the only one in a green Classic Space T-Shirt. The company that supplies them seems to have seen a slight spike in sales recently. I wonder why?
@joefish and @huw where did you get the tshirts from? just out of curiosity... :D
Personally I'm in favour of orange, but green seems to be the order of the day.
The T-shirts were printed by:
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/express-yourself-designs/Retro-/_i.html?_fsub=5710781018&_sid=59680628&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
They seem to do a good vinyl transfer, rather than the rubbery prints of a few places I could mention. And as evidenced by both Huw and myself owning some, they come in a wide range of sizes... ;-)
Well can't make the signing but I can buy a Benny t-shirt! Cheers
I have a dilemma too: I'm on the opposite side of the ocean! Wish I could be there though!
Bit pricier than the above but great customer service: http://www.darkbunnytees.com/products/Lego-Movie-Benny.html
"a salvage team pauldron"
That looks really good.
Can't wait for tomorrow, I'm coming up from Plymouth early in the morning for it! Wont be wearing green but will be wearing a 'JUST BUILD' lego t-shirt.
@joefish, yes that's where I got mine from. The shirt quality is good and the print looks pretty robust too. I haven't worn or washed it yet though.
is the set launched already or is it a special shipment?
@jagoop, that's what I was wondering. I didn't think the set was available yet?
August 1st everywhere except Bluewater tomorrow.
Any chance that that pauldron will be on sale on the site, for those who can't make it to the event?
Yes, I will make the pauldron available for sale. Thank you for asking.
Can't make it myself due to children's parties and cake making but a buddy is turning up to purchase one on my behalf! Would love to be there but hopefully I still won't miss out this way.
I will be there from about 11:00am I hope and will be wearing my lanyard from STEAM (albeit with a redesigned badge) so should be easy to spot.
I look forward to seeing some new (and old) faces!
Hmmmm delay holiday to Florida or go to Bluewater.........hmmmmmmmm I'll be there in spirit at least! Have fun peeps - though I don't endorse speaking to strange men for toys!
Has the UK RRP for the Exo Suit been announced yet?
Just got off of the phone to the store.
The Exosuit will be on sale at 9am
It will be £29.99
They have 380 of them ready to sell.
Hopefully everyone will get one! See you there!
^ For some reason I don't like the sound of that at all... should have put it on sale at 12pm for those of us who have to travel a good distance to it! ;-)
Is 380 units even enough? I've been told it's 2 per person as well. I'll have to get there a bit earlier to make sure I get one :-)
Three hours between 9am & 12 noon - that's 180 minutes; they'd have to sell more than one set every 30 seconds, consistently from 9am onwards, in order to sell out by 12 noon. Technically possible, but unlikely?
Disappointed at the price.
Will be there, just arrived from Spain, together with my red 1980-something space project t-shirt. Sorry, I did not bring any green t-shirts over from the continent.
Alarm clock set...check! Sat Nav...check! Fuel...check! Early night...will try ;-) Green t-shirt no argh !!
So looking forward to tomorrow and meeting so many brickset members.
just as a side note there appears to be an exo suit on ebay already have I missed something or has someone out there been naughty
^ It's a pre-order. Why do people pay £20 over the odds on eBay for something they can buy themselves from the same place as he will? I guess if they are not in a country that LEGO.com serves might be a good reason.
I think tobyde deserves a medal :-)
Have fun tomorrow folks!
If you see LEGO.com UK, there is an icon of Exo-Suit (Buy Now) on the first page, but it will direct to 'Product not available'. Does this mean it will release today in other LEGO Store in UK?
Lego store in Meadowhall is selling these today in line with Bluewater. I've just picked mine up.
Got mine from Westfield. No line.
Just spoken to the Brighton store: they were told UK release was today, so all stores should have them on the shelf.
I wish I'd known, I'd have gone and got one :(
Yeah, just got mine from the Meadowhall store in Sheffield too. Unexpected surprise being able to get it today! Just need to wait until this evening so I can sit down and build it...
just pick one up from mk
Good times at Bluewater today :) was nice to meet some of you.
I was at the Bluewater event, I had a great time! I said hi to Andy and got the pauldron - which is fantastic, by the way - but unfortunately didn't see Huw while I was there, I started queuing at around 12:20 and by the time I was nearing the front door of the shop he had gone for a walk and I hear that the TLM polybags didn't last too long, but no matter. It's the first time I've done something like this but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Picture of me at the event with Pete: http://i.imgur.com/KEnnCSt.jpg
^ Sorry about that, I headed off the Nandos for a bite to eat with my wife about that time. The polys had all gone by then in any case.
No worries Huw, it was a great day out and I have no regrets...! I still owe you thanks because without this Brickset post I would have completely forgotten about this and been left kicking myself. I'm sure there will be other opportunities in the years ahead. :)
the pauldrons available to buy? i'd like to spruce up some space minifigs i have...
Will there be any more?
