Review: 41049 Panda's Bamboo
Posted by Huw,
To conclude my survey of the new Friends Animals series 6 sets, here's a quick look at the third one, 41049 Panda's Bamboo, which like all the others, contains an animal and a small habitat.
The animal in this one is of course a panda. It's not exclusive to this set, but buying this set is the cheapest way to acquire one. It also appears in 41038 Jungle Rescue Base along with a monkey, parrot, chameleon and a frog.
The habitat consists of two platforms with a log between them for the panda to walk along. There's a stick of bamboo clipped to the back. I would have liked a bit more bamboo: providing just one stick seems a bit mean and doesn't really do justice to the set's name.
The panda has a printed face and paws and looks suitably cute although the stud receptor on its bottom looks a bit odd.
Once again, little girls will love it and AFOLs will buy it just for the panda.

Great review as usual! It isn't a "bit mean" that the set only has o0ne bit of bamboo. It's very mean! The set's name is "Panda's Bamboo" and he only gets one stick? Unfair!
According to the Merriman-Webster dictionary, the plural of "bamboo" is "bamboos", so based on the title there should only be one piece of bamboo.
I'd also challenge that what was called a "log" in the review is meant to be an aged bamboo pole.
^Yeah, I agree - I think the bamboo is supposed to be the big brown thing in the middle of the model, not the little stick in the back. In which case, that's a heck of a large piece of bamboo for the panda to enjoy!
As a AFFOL I love the complete set! :)
Interestingly my Mum, who hates LEGO, like these Friends sets.
Judging by that LEGO did a great job with the series, liked by all kind of people.
I kinda wanted a little bit more bamboo (it seems like that's a theme from the comments), but I still liked this one.
