Quick look: 40825 Halloween Wreath

Posted by ,

For those of us longing for some more seasonal wreaths (40638 Heart Ornament is a fixture on my LEGO room door), seeing 40825 Halloween Wreath was a happy surprise! I wasted no time in getting a copy once it was released.

It's three times the cost of 40638, but has much more detail.

Summary

40825 Halloween Wreath, 617 pieces.
£34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 | 5.7p/6.5c/6.5c per piece.

A very welcome and delightful seasonal wreath

There's no tricky angles with the wreath as it's a circle instead of a heart, so the base is rather repetitive to construct. Once that's done, however, the fun part begins with adding the decorations. As can be seen, there are a few layers with appropriately spooky/autumnal coloured flowers and other accoutrements.

I love that there are several pumpkins included, as well as a medium nougat spider. I thought it was the first time I'd seen this in a set, but I'd clearly forgotten it was included in several Friends sets in 2020! The foliage is lush and makes good use of the various sizes/colours of leaves and flower pieces.

There are three main brick built features in the wreath: a pumpkin that only has eyes, a rather frightened-looking ghost, and a vampire bat which looks cute rather than menacing.

The wreath is quite delightful and filled with fun details that are noticed the more you look at it. For instance, the addition of the bone pieces on one side.

Most importantly the wreath looks great on my LEGO room door.

Overall thoughts

I'm actually quite surprised it's taken this long for LEGO to come out with another seasonal wreath. For $40, I think it's good value for money, and I'm looking forward to having it hang on my door through October.

I hope there are more to come!

I was very excited for this wreath and also bought it day one! I was eager to get my hands on all three Halloween sets this year (counting the 3-in-1 Haunted House), since we have gotten next to nothing for Halloween the last two years. I love real horror stuff as well but cute/spooky stuff like this is perfect for decorating a home in October.

My wish now is to get some more non-Halloween autumnal decor for September and November. It's not a wreath, but I've been using 10314 Dried Flower Centerpiece for that purpose the last few years. Hopefully we'll see some more.

Thanks for the preview!

I think I would prefer if the seasonal sets like this were less expensive, allowing for more impulse purchasing, especially since we won't likely see any opportunities for discount.

By in Germany,

I'm really happy that we got so many spooky sets this Halloween season. Now they just need to be actually appealing to me, next year.

I think it looks nice, but it’s just not something for me.

Looks good... I've already got 3 Christmas wreaths... I guess a Halloween one can't hurt!

Love the colors!

No. I like Halloween, I like spooky stuff, but this just seems cluttered and ugly. I'm still tempted to pick up 31167 despite its ridiculous price, but this thing isn't even a consideration.

While I think that this is a very fun and well done design, I don't get why other holidays have to keep copy each other for ideas. Wreaths, if not funeral or poppy, are meant to be for Christmas. Aterall you'd not get Easter Pumpkins or Christmas Eggs.

Not really appealing to me as-is, but I can see it being useful as a parts pack. A lot of nice plant pieces.

I don’t need this, but I like it. I own 10340 and while it looks nice, it’s incredibly awkward to handle. This looks much more stable in that regard.

I agree. No need for this, but it looks fun and colourful. Probably still looks good when you take the spooky things out.

Shame the pics in this review are a bit unfocussed, though.

Although I like halloween stuff this is not for me. I think it's well done though

Over here there's chocolate bunnies and chocolate santas and chocolate sinterklaas. All in the exact style of the chocolate bunny.

A little busy for me, but I love the colors and variety

It's cute, but not sure why it wasn't done in autumn leaf colors. Especially since that would help differentiate it from Christmas.

Thank god there’s no black cat in the Halloween set this year because ours just died and I don’t want to be reminded.

Actually, Cadbury's once released Creme Eggs around Halloween with the creme colored green. They were called Cadbury Screme Eggs.

Personally, I like this set. We don't get enough Halloween/spooky sets.

I hate that they are not making them anymore. I still go to the seasonal aisle at Halloween hoping to find some, but I think it has been about 4-5 years since I saw any.

Not a colour change, but there are some renaming of some Nestle bars like the "Coffin Crisp" and "ScAero"

I'm sorry for your loss... losing a beloved pet is never easy.

Yeah, I think it was just a one-time thing. Pity, because having Creme Eggs available twice a year would have been great.
