More Bionicle Information Coming On Friday

Posted by ,

LEGO has stated on the official LEGO Bionicle Facebook page that they'll be revealing some more Bionicle 2015 information on this coming Friday. The Brick Fan points out it could be the teaser site that we've already seen. My biggest hope would be for the first official images of some of the finalised sets. We'll likely have to wait until Friday to find out, unless of course LEGO slips up again like they've been showing a pattern of doing with their Bionicle 2015 reveal.

YES! I'm with you Meiko- I've seen the prelims, and they look OK, but still fall short in some areas. The Hype Train continues!

in b4 babyish whining from BIONICLE-haters who think any news they don't care about is "not real news" and any theme they don't care about is "not real LEGO". The recent hubbub has been a reminder of how divisive and hateful the AFOL community in general and the Brickset community in particular can be.

But anyway, I'm excited to see what this is going to be! A teaser site is a very real possibility, hopefully with either more content than what we've seen or the promise of more content to be added gradually. I don't particularly expect finalized pictures of the sets to be disclosed over two weeks before New York Comic Con, but another teaser video could be nice as well. I guess we'll find out in a few days!

@Aanchir: I have personally not seen so much hate for Bionicle here at Brickset, or at least what I have seen is mostly overshadowed by the numbers of people who appreciate this kind of news especially since they want to see Bionicle back. Rather, your comment more or less is disparaging towards the members of Brickset community who just don't like Bionicle like you do, which in my eyes is quite hypocritical. But I'd really not like to see the comments on this turn into an argument of Bionicle fans vs non-Bionicle fans, since the past news reports here regarding Bionicle 2015 have had a healthy amount of discussion and speculation.

We'll have to start naming Fridays "disappointing Friday" : )

Yeah, I think it's gonna be the teaser website and not any finalized pictures or story information (that they can save for NYCC). I would like them to maybe display a detailed model of a new piece (like the new heads or those armor plates) but I doubt that's gonna be a thing at all.

@TheDesuComplex: They can launch both the teaser website and release some finalised pictures at the same time however. They did so when the Mixels teaser site was launched.

Whoopee, more Bionicle news that's likely to be already known. How exciting.

I wonder if the teaser site would have some sort of blueprint for, say, Tahu? THAT would be cool.

I don't have any problem with people not liking BIONICLE, but I do have a problem with people whining about it as if all news should be targeted to their interests. And I've been seeing a disappointing amount of that even from people who seem to be adults. Like DanRSL's "I know people hold Bionicle dear, but all the gushing has me needing to spit back a little bile every now and then." Granted, the community's better than it used to be when it comes to tolerating niche themes like BIONICLE, Technic, etc, but it's still a little bit irritating to see people nonchalantly saying "I expected something good, not just a ing bionicle" and the like after one of the first major BIONICLE-related announcements in YEARS.

Granted, some of the worst comments in the older news articles appear to have been deleted or edited (thankfully). And there have been a lot of good comments to offset the bad — people talking about how they used to look down on BIONICLE but grew to appreciate its role in the brand and community, for instance.

But it doesn't really soften the indignation of finding that a large chunk of the community STILL looks down on a huge part of the LEGO community and the themes they enjoy. It's a reminder that what the AFOL community has in size it lacks in solidarity, and many people are convinced that only the themes they collect are actually significant enough to qualify as "big news".

To be honest I was hoping LEGO would have reveled something besides BIONICLE. I thought they were throwing out false rumors to confuse us and then pull out something new. I'm more sad that LEGO could't keep a decent secret instead of anyone theme coming back.

You guys in the comments here and on the other article seem happy though, however your wallet won't. :)

( by the way does anyone have or even remember the old minifig scale BIONICLE toys that were around for a little while.? )

The minifig scale Bionicle sets were great! Some neat parts, cool aliens for scifi mocs.

I would suspect a lot of the backlash at the moment is that LEGO promised something new and major for that 4 day tease/countdown. We've all known Bionicle would be "back" for nearly a year now. And it never really left, since there's no difference between Bionicle and Hero Factory. They're both Technic-derived ball joint action figures.

@1UPminifig: I can see why you would be hoping for something else. I do wish LEGO would take a quick break from revealing Bionicle stuff and reveal something else. I REALLY want to see the rumoured Top Gear/Super Cars theme (http://en.brickimedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear), which oddly is one of few themes we haven't seen prelims of (which could make sense if it is a Top Gear license since there could be a licensing embargo that BBC has that restricts LEGO Top Gear from being announced until a certain date).

Either way, it looks like it won't be the teaser site that's going to be revealed on Friday since it's up already now: http://www.lego.com/bionicle

@Sastrei: It's not been nearly a year (we got the first picture of that cardboard shelf in July, I think) and still, many fans don't follow the leaks so it'd be news to to them. Also, both BIONICLE and Hero Factory fans will heavily disagree with your stance that there is no difference between them. It starts with the fact that Hero Factory introduced a new building system (that BIONICLE will now continue using) and continues with the story, which were very different considering style, complexity and presentation. Keep in mind the BIONICLE story has been a very big if not the biggest driving factor for many of its hardcore fans. BIONICLE had a deep mythology and a rich storyline (at least for LEGO standards) that spanned over nine years while Hero Factory had a much less deep and episodic storyline that spanned four and half years.

@Sastrei

I don't know why you'd want news from any other theme, after all, you've seen Hobbit set photos and the UCS Tumblr. And those are all the same thing as any other theme, since they're all built with the same type of part, right???

Now that I think about it I don't remember owning any of the sets or even seeing them.

how the heck did I get that figure in the first place?

@1UPminifig: From my experience they commonly appear at yard sales. If you ever bought a bin of used LEGO it could have possibly been in there.
