By in United States,

They're gonna need better protection from those sharks.

I mean, I know sharks are usually not too interested in people, but these sharks have angry brows, they're clearly evil.

By in New Zealand,

A great set for a bunch of sea creatures.
And a fairly nice shipwreck build too!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hopefully the vessel’s name is more respectable than Boaty McBoatface.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

This set is so cool, I can't believe it's already 10 years old. Still fits in with most modern City sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need to get some of those diver's flags someday.

Nothing wrong with Boaty McBoatface. Now if it was Boaty McTrainface that wouldn't be respectable.

Lego should do more shipwrecks. More plane crash sites would be nice, too. The only one I'm aware of was 60161.

120$ in 2015 ($165 in today's money), for 717 (albeit large) parts on a non-licenced set. And people complain now that LEGO is expensive?

I say this tongue and cheek, as LEGO as always been expensive, despite what people say nowadays.

I really like that set, btw.

I'm not seeing the laser beam accessories for the sharks.

@eiffel006:
Fair I suppose, but there are four sharks, and giant boat hulls. The price isn’t incredible, but it’s really not bad.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Definitely a really nice set! I remember when this came out, and it’s crazy it’s 10 years old. Nice shark battle pack too!

I mean, technically 7198 and 77012...

But yeah, reading your comment, I was, "But what about..." and then I'm pretty sure that's the exact same set I was thinking of. There are definitely more shipwreck sets, though. Not a ton, but I know there was at least one from the old Divers theme, and one more beyond that.

@JGW3000:
They must have hit your eyes and blinded you. And everybody else who doesn't see them!

@Wallace_Brick_Designs:
Even though they are sometimes referred to as "carpenter sharks", sawfish are classified as rays, most closely related to guitarfish. You know, if Discovery Channel ever rose to the challenge and started running Ray Day in conjunction with Shark Week, they might not be so misunderstood.

By in Australia,

A great set!
Looks amazing in the Toys R Us / Target display case, or in a split shelf with glass representing the ocean, the boat on the top, and the shipwreck below!

By in United States,

Great set, happened to dig it out a few weeks ago when organizing part of my collection. The winch has enough length to put the shipwreck on the floor, the ship on a table, and have a nice, long diving depth to play with. Love this set.

By in Netherlands,

It's a decent set but personally I find the shipwreck a bit boring because it's just a modern City type ship. The wooden type of shipwrecks seen in other sets and themes were more exciting to me, but at the very least this one's plenty sizable.
A lot about it feels like it's trying to remake the 1997 Divers sets but I find it difficult to see the same charm here.

1371 Spinosaurus attack comes to my mind as well.

By in United Kingdom,

The original Divers subtheme was an unexpected hit for me, I normally eschewed the more mundane Lego themes in favour of the more fantastical or sci-fi. Something about the chunky designs of the subs really appealed to me and I think the underwater landscapes were something I hadn't seen in even other submarine-based themes. I could absolutely see this set and the rest in the theme scratching that same itch, even looking at it now I'm digging the parallels between the working boat and its matched wreck

By in Netherlands,

This was a fine set. I liked the sidebuild so much, I didn't even bother sinking it. I just used some pieces from my own collection to turn it back into a decent enough ship. Boat still does not float, however.

... this got really weird all of a sudden.

By in Russian Federation,

That's a cool set. Exploring the shipwrecks is always so exciting.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Awesome set with our first proper shipwreck. (not just basic 'pirate ship' style)

2015 was the last good City wave.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

"Hey guys, we finally got a bigger boat!"

Cool set!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Says Hull piece unique to this set but also returned 5 years later in 60266 , which made better use of integrating the void under the captains bridge with windows to look out onto the main deck, although this version had a far better wreck.

By in Poland,

IMO one of best later 2010s City Sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can't believe we haven't got an octopus in a set since this one was last seen in 2018.

There is the tiny Friends one as part of a pack, but that isn't the same.

Yeah? Still sank.

@ambr:
This set is the only instance of dark-blue w/ dark-bley top. 60109 had red w/ dark-bley top. 60266 and 60638 had dark-blue w/ light-bley tops, so that’s not even under the same catalog entry on Bricklink.

Well, I got it for around US$85 back in 2015. Can't remember the last time I paid full price for any Lego set.

With Lego getting even more expensive nowadays, it's a wise move to NEVER buy at retail price, ALWAYS wait for a discount.

My most recent purchases this year are all at 30 to 60% off local retail prices. For example past few days I just bought 3x 60294 Stunt Show Truck at US$20 each, 71848 Temple Bounty at below US$140, Simpsons Krusty Burger at US$150, 77073 Battle Bus at US$70 etc.

I really prefer this to the double hull boats!

Those are pre-plane crash sets. Although 1371 is another plane crash set, as @Binnekamp pointed out.

I wish we had discounts in Canada. This is something I bring up often, but apart from Amazon which sometimes offer discounts, no other retailer does in Canada (and I'm not buying from Amazon, ever). Independent toy stores even sell at higher prices than LEGO. So it's LEGO.com for me or nothing, I don't really have a choice.

77012 is definitely mid-crash. Wings are popping off, things are on fire, pilot is looking confusedly at the car he’s beating in a roadrace.

Actually, I'd say it's a crash-in-progress set, as the wings can either be attached or not.

Just realized I have 33 out of the 37 City sets released that year. I collect trains but for some reason didn't get the train set.
