The only time Kylo Ren looked good because the mask was printed on a head so he could still wear the hood. I'll never understand why the helmet is so huge when it clearly hugs tight to the head in the movie, and looks better as just a head with a print for the minifigure.
Not near as cool (nor near as accurate) as 75256.
I suddenly find myself feeling compelled to throw a drink at the nearest movie screen. No idea why.

Yeah, I really want them to make a new minifig of Kylo with the printed mask. Then again, we need a new minifig of him, period. The last set he was in was already five years ago!
Oh, and Double Star Wars, again!
Just how secretive were Disney/LucasFilm to the point of not giving LEGO the proper Episode VII source material in time, resulting in...this?
The wings are so short, and of course the colour, we don't talk about that.

They're folded down.

Not often that two streaks overlap.

Took me a second to realize that by "Episode XII," you meant "Episode VII." XII is twelve in Roman numerals, not seven.
Wow this looks WAY worse than the later one my son got. Man he dodged a bullet.
70 Star Wars sets released in a single year?
Sweet Yoda.
A **** set for a **** film seems apt somehow....
BTW, I believe 75098 will qualify for RSotD next year. Are you all going to pile on the bile when that happens?
Saw what I'm pretty sure was a straight reproduction of this guy while rewatching Rebuild the Galaxy season one the other day. Found it interesting that they used Kylo's signature ship-or one of them, since apparently he also needed two unique TIE Fighters-for the transport of an alternate universe version of his mom.

Shrinkage.

No I still regret not getting it!

Honestly, I doubt it was secrecy as much as it was LEGO had to start the process early before final VFX was decided on. So they probably got accurate references at that point in the film production LEGO was let in, then the ship had a design change after LEGO was "locked in" already.

The answer is "yes". If I'm remembering a statement from a Lego designer correctly, they got one meeting to look at concept art and such, no photos, nothing to take home. This would've also been a year or more before the movie released, since all the merch had to release three months before.
Anyway, Lego weren't the only ones caught out by this ship, I think Hot Wheels also had it wrong the first time. Whatever reference Lucasfilm had must've shown the wings vertical.
In a similar vein, there was the barely-there First Order Snowspeeder (apparently its major scene got cut late in development), and that scuttling walker from TLJ (cut entirely).
Just realized we got another RSotD sandwich: there were two Star Wars sets, then three Bionicle sets, and now another two Star Wars sets.

Mmm, now that’s a tasty sandwich. Just dripping with lore

I have no regrets.
Or either set.
@PurpleDave : Hmmm...Is someone playing "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"...:)
Side-note: Guess who owns THAT now too...:|
I'm glad I 'checked out' (sortta') after 'The Last Movie'...I mean, yes, I did go see "Solo"; and I didn't hate myself afterward...can't say that with 'the main story'..:|
I really want a remake of this set.

Does 75256 count? They look to be the same craft to me but Star Wars being Star Wars they might be similar but different with an entire page of backstory on why the swap happened

They are indeed the same craft, as others mentioned above the first set released by Lego and a couple of other toy companies had this grey colouring with fixed upright wings, suggesting that was the original design early in the films production before it was changed by which point the toys were already in production. The later Black version was released after the films so they could get the colour and folding wings correct.
As for remakes, technically we got 75406 this year

Having just discovered the MST3K YouTube channel earlier, I thought that the next ting I watched was going to be the Space Mutiny episode, my all-time favorite episode. (The Many Names of David Ryder never fails to crack me up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFHlJ2voJHY) But those plans just changed! Either way, I'm watching something with a robot named Servo!

At the very least, someone will comment something along the lines of, "Huwbot, you got the name wrong. That's *Insult,* not *assault.*"

Both true, but leaving out the lack of wing articulation is really burying the lede! Lol

That would be ironic after the whole publicity campaign Jar-Jar Abrams made about "using practical effects It's JusT lIKe tHe OT loOk aT thiS RaNdOm UgLy BaCkGroUnd PuPPeT AlIen"

I think it’s called “saver’s remorse.”
Today still available MISB for less than the original RRP. Can't have been the most popular set.

Oh boy if you think this is bad, just take a look at the first Avengers:Endgame wave. Now THAT is peak inaccuracy.
It's a shame it has so little interior space.
I recall the hype from when the movie came out. Those were such different times. Now it's not uncommon to hear surprise at there even being a new movie in the works.
I like the way the wings fold down btw. That was one of the nicer things about this set. Minifigs are nice too.
@Rob42:
There was a die-cast version in white, and a larger version in black, to go with this version in grey. So even the color was all over the map at launch. It’s one thing to hold your cards too close to your vest, but these were tucked down into Disney’s underpants. Lucas never would have let such inaccurate toys make it to market.

No? Is that word used even once in that entire movie? It’s from a TV show. One that has an official LEGO set, even.
"Side-note: Guess who owns THAT now too...:|"
Sure, why not. The FTC got drunk and let them Hoover up 40% of Hollywood, after all. Maybe Mickey slipped them a mickey before they made their ruling? I’m just waiting to hear that Disney ended up blurring certain scenes from the OT, once they realize what actually made it onto the screen.

The set was based off of concept art, like most movie sets set to release during the time of the movie. I actually have a TFA poster as well (from toysrus [rest in peace]) that has the same shuttle as the Kylo ren 2015 shuttle, just without those goofy lower wing flaps.
This hasn’t been the first time we got concept art based sets or the last, such as that weird AT-ST tank thing from The Last Jedi wave or a bunch of marvel sets from movies such as No Way Home or Endgame.
I know it isn't screen accurate but I really liked this ship and the fact that the cockpit was so deceptively big.
