But Pippin-go-straight.

Maximillian is freaking me out.

I still say that that fence piece would work well in some Friends sets.

They're having mutton for second breakfast.

Maximilian desires the flesh and blood (ABS?) of the residents of Fabuland. His bricklust can only be sated at the carnival.

I am so very confused by what I'm seeing.... Like, I could understand if this image was of the front of the box, and the box had a cutout to show the Terror Rodent figure included in the set as an "actual size" type of thing. But the cutout is *behind* the fence, which implies the Door to the Void is part of the set and canonically present in Fabuland. The Terror Rodent is therefore not just staring out of the box art at you, but also into the set as well... inevitably spelling a gruesome fate for Lucy.

...On second glance, it looks like the Void was either poorly photoshopped behind the fence for this image, or the box's cutout was deliberately shaped to avoid obscuring any portion of the fence pieces. Which is still confusing, but maybe LEGO forgot to put Maximillian into the box art image, and this was their solution to showing he was in the set? I'm not sure that was, in fact, the best solution....

By in Australia,

Well. That's terrifying.

Maybe it's just the kind of plastic Lego used to use, right? Because My Dad was similarly terrifying, staring at you from behind his plastic cover.

That's how the creatures of Fabuland come and go as they please! Mystery solved. It's the dark portal they use to enter your dreams and other dimensions.

I friggin love how long that bucket element has stuck around. Pretty thematic element with great detail.

Which is exactly what it was. Why they shaped the cutout the way they did, as if it was a door to the playground, only LEGO knows.

Do we dare ask what Maximilian Mouse did to annoy Superman enough to get thrown into the Phantom Zone like that?

Possibly they wanted to both show the actual figure as it is in the box, and at the same time make it appear as if it was part of the scene depicted on the box. So, indeed, a sort of portal to another dimension or reality :)

By in Turkey,

I love to read the conspiracy theories about these Fabuland sets. What lies under the warm and fuzzy world of these sweet looking creatures...

On another note, I love the blue motorbike, looks beautiful.

Well... interesting comments, to say the least. ':-)

I had this set as a child, and absolutely loved it, as I loved all the Fabuland sets I owned. In fact, I still own all of them today, including the nicely illustrated instruction booklets. LEGO really put a lot of love into this theme.

However, this also where my hatred for stickers on LEGO bricks started. Particularly with this set, as those stickers were hard to apply straight, and they've started to curl up over time because of the curvature of the merry-go-round's roofing. Also, one of the final three Fabuland sets.

I get the motorbike, but not sitting in the other objects on the roundabout.

I was today years old when I learned that Lego made a one piece bench seat, just for a couple of years in the 1980s. I think I need to order a few through BrickLink.

I am a huge lover of Fabuland, yet I did not know this set existed. It’s somehow the last of the final wave to appear as RSotD. So much to love about this set! The park bench, the fences in white, and, of course, the sweet blue motorcycle.

However, Maximillian coming in from The Void certainly explains why Fabuland was killed off after this year. After this year, the apocalypse happened I suppose. This very well could have been Lucy’s last day. He really is starting to scare me…

I love how the merry go round has a motorbike... and a bucket and car mid section piece.

Cute set.

My Dad vibes from the insert though
