Random minifig of the day: sw0054

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is sw0054 Boba Fett, Young - Medium Blue Shirt, Yellow Head, a Star Wars figure that came in one set, 7153 Jango Fett's Slave I, released during 2002.

Our members collectively own a total of 7,582 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $40.70.

TIL that 65153's inventory just lists the carrying case, and that no minifigs are listed.

Given the set he comes in is more focused on the Kamino scenes, his face looks rather grumpy.

Also one of the first minifigs with short legs, probably the first with short medium blue ones too (regular ones were new in 2002 as well for Island Xtreme Stunts).

I know the hair is off and over-used in early SW but to me it works for the scale. Don't need a special one for every character.

That inventory is not official btw.

EDIT:
65153 seems not listed at Lego.com at the moment it seems. Also "UPN0058" is most certainly not an official TLG name or number.

And for most sites I'd assume they would consider this set to consist of 2 items only:
The carry case and Set 7153.

This fig's hair might just be more accurate than the newest young Boba.

Two decades ago, we did a display at Motor City Comic-Con. The actor who played this character was signing autographs. One of the guys in my LUG picked up a sealed copy of this set (sans the carrying case), built it, and took the instruction booklet to get signed by the actor. Turns out, he hadn't even known he'd been turned into a minifig, so the guy trade the minifig to him in exchange for signing the instructions.

Bruh. Look at this duuude.

Very suspicious fellow.

I've always liked how this perfectly encapsulates Boba on Kamino in 2002 LEGO form. Just generally irritated, but I also wouldn't mind a rye smile for when he thinks Obi-Wan's been blown up. That wouldn't come until much later in 2017 with 75191.

EDIT: Forgot he was in 2013's Advent Calendar (75023) since I don't collect those, but 2017 has the better smile.

I mean, he did sell the Hansicle to Jabba, so you're not wrong.

This was one of my most coveted and prized minifigures due to the long stretch of there being no young Boba figs made after this for a decade. Even now, in our times of Young Boba abundance, I still prize this one due to the happy memories I have around the Jango Fett's Slave I in specific and the entire "era" around Attack of the Clones film premiere in May 2002 in general.

Was thinking the exact same thing.

Remember, Bubba Feets is not a bounty hunter.

At best, he’s a tracking device.

I’ll pay $40 for you to keep this guy away from me.

Looks like a kid from medieval times.

Offer accepted! You now owe me $40. Be glad I don’t own two of these minifigs.

One of only about four or so sets I got during my dark ages, and to this day I can't fathom why. Got it for Christmas 2002 from my parents, even though I never asked for it.
Still, won't complain. :-)

Between the medieval-esque tunic and lack of childlike features modern minifigs use, feels like I’m about to be lectured by a beardless dwarf. What, did I fail my Pickaxe Safety Course?

@Atuin if you were a boy with that haircut you’d be grumpy too.
