They say it's kendo, but they have yet to make a shinai element.

Zane doesn't mind. He's known for his Kendo-attitude.

What are the medium blue elements in this set for?

The winter 2012 spinners were not my favourites because the characters featured were mostly scouts and kendo figs (which reuse the 2011 ninja garbs, just with armor). And I vastly prefer transparant spinners over the solid colored ones. But it's nice to see how far the design of the spinners themselves have come.
Oh, and I love the Samurai X spinner. It was cool to get the fig before the june release of the Samurai Mech, and the spinner is just a great package for what it does. Butterfly sword!

The spinners included cards with which you can play a game. With one you could do things like knock over targets, and with other spinners yo could 'duel' by trying to knock the opponent off first. This was accomplished by the included weapons (each having a slightly different physical swing) and by including shielding. The spinner top ring was one such boon, but you could also add bricks and plates to either create one tall shield on one side, two 1x2 brick shields, or you could put them and the plate underneath to elevate the entire spinner.
The 2011 spinners included clips to add weapons on the spinner, but the 2012 ones instead had three technic holes on the bottom that could accomodate blades (e.g 9553), chains (e.g. 9551) or snakes (e.g. 9557). The cards determined what status effects or modifications you used, and the character's stats allowed certain cards to work, i.i.r.c.

Surprisingly there was a lot of creative potential. Actual building! And due to balance and weight you could viably use multiple options. I never played it with someone else though, I just tested it a few times back then.

By in United Kingdom,

We’ve had trending themes before but but jumping from “White Ninja Accessory Pack” to “White Ninja Accessory Pack” is quite specific even for Huwbot!

Could only be better having a set with a shark in between.

@Binnekamp So it's basically to clip one of these cards between the 3004s... Thanks for the explanation!

You can also make a stand with one or two 1x2s stacked on the 2x2 plate. The cards are too thick to be placed between bricks though.

You're welcome :)

Interesting, I never ever touched the spinners. They went straight into my bin of "I'll probably never use these" parts, immediately.

I'm giddy with anticipation for tonight's "random" selection.
Finger crossed for something Ninja-Clikits adjacent.

If Clikits pieces were more compatible with regular Lego, it would be fun to give a Ninja minifigure Clikits shuriken.

Brickset generally only keeps the most recent RMotD and RSotD articles on the main page. The older ones get removed from their original place in the chronological list of articles, but they're still in the Random Set (https://brickset.com/news/category-Random-set) and Random Minifig (https://brickset.com/news/category-Random-minifig) categories.

VSotW articles, however, do keep their place in the list of articles, but since they're only once a week, they naturally fall off the front page just like any other week-old articles.

And once the new day posts, the previous day’s comments are automatically closed. The only exception is VSotW vs RSotD. Because they’re technically two things that share a single timeslot, RSotD stays open two days on Friday/Saturday, and VSotW stays open the whole week from Saturday-Friday. Same rules also apply to all the Advent Calendars when they start getting reviewed on a daily basis from December 1-24, with each theme bumping its previous post off the front page when the new post goes up.
