Minecraft Advent Calendar - Day 16
Posted by TheBrickPal,Yesterday’s baby polar bear was a treat, and I really hope the next gift is of a similar quality. That model is going to be hard to match, though!
We return to the Micro World today with a Zombie and Nether portal!
A micro mob Zombie first appeared in 21105 Micro World - The Village in 2013, but this variant is brand new! It may be simple, but it looks great, matching Steve in its build but using different colors and printing. As with Steve, you can build a second Zombie with the spare parts provided.
A microscale Nether portal featured in 21106 Micro World - The Nether, but this design is new and looks more appropriately sized to me. I especially love the trans-purple 1x1 brick with glitter!
Overall - 5.0 - A great character and model. No complaints here!

As I suspected when the first images appeared of this set, you can assemble 4 of these mini builds on the top biome of the Minecraft Crafting Table.(Instead of the tundra? Biome one the 6x6 plate). The calender including 5, you can swap out the Christmas tree for a non seasonal scene.
This was one of the models that attracted me to this calendar, and that was before I knew about the trans-glitter-purple 1x1!
Trans glitter purple! I thought it had gone extinct already in favor of pearlescent trans purple.
It works really well as a nether portal. If only it was slightly more pink-ish
@TheBrickPal:
What printing is there on the brick? It looks like plain glitter-trans-purple to me.
I think we can all agree that the Cosmic Cube has never looked better.
But at the same time, I think we can also agree that, man, Drax the Destroyer has seen better days.
Another great Minecraft build! The choice for the 1x1 glitter purple brick for the portal is excellent. Kudos to the designer!
Oh, it's an old-fashioned video game console.
I am quite warming up to these mcirobuilds

Sorry, I thought the glitter was printed, not actually part of the piece! I don't think I've ever encountered any glitter elements before now.

Nope, it’s little flakes of something like Christmas tree tinsel that’s suspended in the plastic when they mold it. You can tell because it goes all the way to the edge (print usually has a blank border around the faces of the part), you can see depth to the flakes, and the pattern is completely random. They even did a bucket like this for 7159. I don’t know if the opal transparent parts had any effect, but the glitter colors are a bit rare if you don’t purposefully chase them down. If you’re shopping on OPAB, you can open up a color family, and any glitter colors will be under their own listing.
Unfortunately, Google decided to show me spoilers for today's build before I got to see it for myself... but it's still a good mini Nether portal, albeit an... awkwardly-proportioned one. It's actually slightly wider than it is tall... at that scale, I personally would have gone with a printed 2x3 tile instead, but that's just me.

I'm curious as to how that happened. Were you searching for something?
I really really like this micro build--a bunch of pieces with some good play value which is cool. I hope we get more micro builds in this advent calendar

I opened the Chrome browser on my phone, and one of the articles that show up on the new tab page had a photo that spoiled the surprise.

Another reason to use Firefox.
