This seems irresponsible to market towards children.

Fire at a fuel pump? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a City, these things will happen, but if this is a starter set, shouldn't we start with something simpler? I mean there's a trashcan right there, just light that on fire and see how the cadets put it out. Then you slowly work your way up.

Those starter sets were quite good. Cheap, with lots of minifigs and a build to place in your City.

That set name could have used more workshopping.

Very poor choice of words

Twisted Firestarter

Hey, hey, hey....

A nudie picture for the RMotD, and now arson? Huwbot needs a talking to.

Interesting name....

Currently $16 on ebay (apparently - I did not check) for 4 minifgs and a few other tidbits (trash can, printed parts) is not bad at all.

I quite enjoyed these sets! Looking at the "starter set" tag, forgot how many LEGO released. The small 10 dollar ones I think probably have the best value.

Glad to see I'm not the only fan of The Prodigy on here!

By in Turkey,

I think the minifigures with a few accessory would have been both economical and sufficient. Extra builds only adds to the cost in this case.

Keith Flint is that you?

Two. They released two sets for starting fires. This one and 60106.

ooooooooor...Octan is having a Fire Sale...:)

Gasoline is indeed an excellent thing to use to start fires. And starting the gas station itself on fire makes it much more likely the fire will grow bigger and more beautiful even with those meddlesome fire fighters milling about.

Lego really is an educational toy!

We didn't start the fire! It was always burning since the world's been turning!

I remember having a good laugh when I saw the name. I'm still surprised that Lego allowed a set with that name through given their very careful nature, especially since it was an easily avoidable issue. They could have called it firefighter starter set or something along those lines.

Regardless, the starter sets were always really good value. The builds and figures weren't always noteworthy, but they were a really good deal, a nice sample of a sub theme, and the kind of set that would win a value contest.

Where's the Keith Flint minifig?

This is surprisingly relevant for Huw with Guy Fawkes coming up in only a couple of days. Although, he was an attempted fire starter, not quite successful.

Ah, a classic set name. The stars aligned for it. And it happened twice!

I miss these starter sets. I only got the space one and the jungle one, but they were a welcome sight and it was always nice to have the option. Especially with today's more varied minifig designs it would be nice., as back then City did feel like it was lagging behind a bit due to a few overused generic faces.

Now I wonder if Lego will ever make a Smack My Bitch Up set....

They already make enough sets that are No Good.

The designer had a price point to work to. So they couldn't have just done the figs and a few accessories and said, "Okay, now sell it for seven bucks."

Ah the good old days

What's even more remarkable is the fact that the name was used again (60106) just a year later. Lego seemed quite keen on encouraging arson!

Beat me to it. I was going to ask which one was Drew.

I got a few of these old fire starter sets, but not this one. Great value, too. I always felt like Star Wars could go back to $10 if this was the case. But, we all know why they don’t. Also… that mechanic that apparently is an arsonist seems to show up in other fire starter sets. Coincidence? I think not.

By in Germany,

Screw this set, let's head back over to the RMOTD.
That's where the fun is at.

Clearly not seeing as though that set’s comments are severely behind compared to its predecessor. This one is doing well above average for its content. ;)

After Keith, needs a Trashcan Man minifig.

I am unconvinced, and am much too scared to actually click on that article to find out for certain.

I remember when this set came out. I still can't help flashing back to the movie Firestarter with Drew Barrymore and my favorite, Heather Locklear.

Fire Starter-Set or
Fire-Starter set?
