Looks good at first glance, but not so good at a closer look. No differential is a big disappointment, and the lines are too straight. Also, at that big price bump from the $50 these sets used to be, and with the absurd 18+ black box, and at the same approximate parts count, those markings should all have been printed. Not stickers. Prints. How many times do we have to say that before Lego will listen?

Wow! Another car with a lot of stickers!

Not what I like about Technic!

By in Netherlands,

These are looking a little better every year.
But I'd still much rather have this as a $25 Speed Champions car.
A $75 dollar Technic set without a crane is a no-buy for me.

By in Netherlands,

Why not the same scale as the 42154 Ford GT? Granted, that would show even better how that one kinda looks more like the classic GT40 than the modern one it is supposed to be (at least from the front). But still, would be cool to have both side-by-side.

But looking at it for what it is, on the one hand I appreciate them now doing some classic car in the Car Transporter scale, but it does have the same issues most of them have: If not for the stickers they look barely recognizable. This one might actually be a bit better than most, but still looks rather rough. And the prices for these aren't getting any better either....

Oh, and imagine them doing black pins for a black car....

By in United Kingdom,

Oh look, another car.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

The Car Transporter gang keeps going. Now 50% more expensive than 3 years ago, but who's counting?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh look yet another car.

Wow look at the exciting functions.....never seen before in technic...no wait....

You can even add extra pistons to make it a v14 when you can afford it as they have already given you the extra cylinder bores ...never seen a real engine like it!

Sarcasm aside, looks good as a model, but maybe creator expert is more suitable than technic for this sort of thing?

By in United Kingdom,

Not bad, but I would have preferred an Icons version. Even preferred 75881 2016 Ford GT & 1966 Ford GT40

V14 do exist though, though I doubt they run well with only 8 pistons: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V14_engine

Would be fun to mount one like that in a car ;-)

By in Norway,

Look, it's another sportscar bereft of interesting functions that comes with quite a few stickers. And as a bonus, the set is now overpriced in a manner thinking this is actually a Star Wars set.

It is beyond me, especially with the other themes where you could make as many cars you would want, why there are not more interesting and affordable Technic sets like, for instance, 42167, 42198 and 42201 being produced?

Come on TLG!

By in Netherlands,

MK as in designee Markus Kosman?

Gravatar
By in Jordan,

They really went and slapped an 18-plus label on this so they could charge an extra 10 bucks huh.

It looks decent, but no differential is a miss IMO.

By in United States,

I've never quite seen the point of Technic cars at this scale. You lose the detail of traditional parts, but it's not big enough for all the neat Technic stuff that one of the super cars would have. This would be amazing as a 16-wide Creator Expert like 10265.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Good luck aligning the racing stripes on 16 different pieces straight. Aren't people tired of being treated this bad by TLG, while there are clearly cheaper and much better alternatives? Ignorance is bliss, right?

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is one of my favorite color schemes for the GT40 and the design seems very well done for this scale.

However I can't help but feel this is like a shrinkflation version of 42154 . Fewer pieces, fewer functions, much higher PPP.

Also, the obligatory "Another Technic sports car with the same boring functions and compromised deign."

But i do really like the colors.

By in New Zealand,

Such an iconic car. Definitely one of the more interesting cars that has been released in the Technic theme.

Get ready for the race.

I’m confused, which Iron Man is this?

By in United Kingdom,

I'm a bit late to the party and the whine is flowing but ....

argggggggghhhhhhhhh, stickers ... argggggggghhhhhhhhh, price

(and argggggggghhhhhhhhh, no differential)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want this car because of Ford v Ferrari, but now I don’t know whether to build 75881 (I still have it sealed) or get this. Wish they would make a Ken Miles version.

MKII as in Mark Two as in version number two.

By in Canada,

Imagine being a Lego Technic designer hoping to build all sorts of complex mechanisms providing cool functions and realistic movements and then your boss comes in: Johnny can you do another 14-16-wide car with a cheap valve-pusher engine (but no real pistons) and steering to go with the 23 others we have on the line-up this year. Must be depressing...

I'd really like to see a come back of static models (i.e. something like 8094) Or, as I mentioned many times before, GBC modules.

This looks nice, but it is not my thing. I like Technic cars (once in a while) but I like them with all the functions possible. I have the Lamborghini 42115 - that should keep me satisfied for a long while until they come up with something 'clearly' better.

By in Netherlands,

How about cutting it with all the Technic licenses.

By in United Kingdom,

Lego 2026:

- Let's charge £10 more compared to equivalent size set in 2024/5

- Let's still use stickers because we like know Lego lovers will moan and still buy the sets anyways. Never mind companies like Lumibricks charge less for their sets and have printed pieces

- Let recycle and keep using the same old Technic wheel that seems to be standard for 80% of all 4 wheeled vehicles. Never mind that our smaller cousins, Speed Champions, benefit from special alloys to go on their wheels.

- Let's keep the inconsistency going in terms of scale in 2026. Ford GT 2022 is one size and this one is smaller. Most people who brought the Ford GT last year will likely want the Ford GT40 next year and display it next to it. It will look stupid because they're different scales.

By in United States,

Red-hot take incoming: Of the 4 sets revealed today, I'd rather have this than any of the others.

Why? Because this is an actual LEGO set, not another giant, over-detailed, 2D MOC. Sure, the other three look good, but that's all they do. They're basically just MOCs made by the LEGO designers - beautiful to behold, parts-dense, NPU-rich, detailed, etc. - that LEGO corporate decided to market for the heck of it. The GT-40, at least, has wheels and steering, plus a couple other features - things you can *do* with it. On top of that, it still looks pretty good, which is unusual for these Technic cars.

Mind you, I'm not a fan of the constant stream of licensed cars Technic has been pumping out - they're boring, unimaginative, and usually ugly - and I look wistfully back to the pre-2017 Technic lineups. But at least they're still playsets and a reasonable price (or they were, $75 is too much for this). I'm just so completely burned out on the enormous, gaudy, expensive, "Adults Welcome" dust-collectors that are seem to be rolling out weekly at this point. C'mon, LEGO, give the cheaper Technic, City, Friends, Ninjago, Star Wars, etc. sets some love!

By in Germany,

Good thing I can retire to bed, resting assured that my personal complaints are no longer needed since they have all been covered by other people already. Well done @all.
Goodnight.

At first, I was confused by this comment. I had to see the comments of @merman and @iwybs to understand the MK II reference and the Ironman suit nomenclature.

For completeness: the MK II is the Iron Man Armour which was short-lived because of an icing problem at altitude ;-)

By in United States,

I love these mid-sized technic cars. I'm gonna wait for a discount on this one, but i really like it. I'm not really a car guy, but i love lego cars lol

By in Turkey,

Like many others, I too, prefer Speed Champions version. This may have interesting functions but it's not something we haven't seen before. Fans of the car may enjoy it though.
