Posted by ,

A new partnership has been announced between the LEGO Group and the FIFA World Cup, beginning with a LEGO recreation of the famous FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Build World Football’s Ultimate Prize: The LEGO Group and FIFA World Cup 2026 Kick off New Collaboration

  • The LEGO Group and FIFA World Cup 2026 announce new collaboration ahead of next year’s tournament.
  • Iconic LEGO Editions FIFA World Cup Official Trophy made from LEGO bricks in 1:1 scale and available for pre-order now at www.LEGO.com/fifa-world-cup-official-trophy
  • Collaboration will offer unique play experiences for fans in lead-up to and during the tournament, allowing fans of LEGO play and FIFA World Cup fans to build, play, and celebrate together around 2026’s biggest global sporting event.

In a collaboration that’s a perfect match for LEGO play and football enthusiasts alike, the LEGO Group is teaming up with the FIFA World Cup 2026 to bring creativity and fun into the world of football like never before, for fans of all ages around the world.

Ahead of the tournament, the LEGO Group will unveil a special product portfolio celebrating football’s biggest stage – with the first product announced, the iconic FIFA World Cup Official Trophy, in collaboration with FIFA.

Launching in March 2026, this first-ever, official 1:1 detailed replica of world football’s ultimate prize allows fans to bring home a golden piece of the tournament’s magic and display their passion for football ahead of next summer’s biggest global sporting event. The impressive trophy, made of 2,842 LEGO pieces, includes a hidden scene which can be opened via a pullable slip in the upper globe section.

Inside the set there is the 2026 World Cup logo as well as an exclusive branded minifigure holding a mini–FIFA World Cup trophy toy, allowing all fans to imagine themselves as winners. A printed plaque underneath the base lists all the winning teams of the World Cup trophy since 1974, adding a collectable and historical aspect to the set.

The trophy also uses two different gold elements – drum-lacquered bricks and moulded gold pieces. This is the first time this many gold-coloured pieces have been used in a LEGO set.

The LEGO Editions FIFA World Cup Official Trophy building set is available for pre-order now at www.LEGO.com/fifa-world-cup-official-trophy

Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group, said: "The LEGO brand has always celebrated the power of creativity, inspiring people of all ages to connect through the joy of building and play. Collaborating with the FIFA World Cup 2026 presents an incredible opportunity to honour the world’s most iconic tournament and the global passion it ignites. The FIFA World Cup Trophy stands as a universal symbol of achievement and unity, and now, through the creativity of the LEGO brick, fans everywhere can experience the excitement of it - piece by piece - in true LEGO style. This marks just the beginning of our collaboration, and we’re thrilled to unite families and fans around the world in celebrating football, imagination, and one of the sport’s most legendary symbols in a whole new way."

Romy Gai, FIFA Chief Business Officer, said: "We are delighted to announce this groundbreaking collaboration with the LEGO Group. The LEGO brand is one of the world’s most loved and iconic brands, so joining forces with them to present football fans around the globe an opportunity to build their very own version of sport’s most prestigious trophy, the FIFA World Cup, provides perfect synergy. It is the first time FIFA and the LEGO Group have teamed up on such a project, and with the biggest, best and most inclusive FIFA World Cup fast approaching – we hope fans take this opportunity to embrace the spirit of the global game’s greatest event, and bring a little piece of the party into their homes to keep forever."

Roberto Carlos, who won the FIFA World Cup for Brazil in 2002, said: "Winning the FIFA World Cup was one of the most incredible moments of my life, and I’ll never forget what it felt like to hold that trophy. I know we couldn’t have achieved it without our amazing fans and what this trophy means to them. Now, with the LEGO World Cup Trophy set, fans can create their own version and bring that magic home. This isn’t just about building a trophy; it’s about sharing the love of football with family and friends."

Building the future of football fun

The LEGO Group is set to bring a playful dimension to the FIFA World Cup 2026, offering fans more surprises and opportunities to get a piece of the action – both in person and online.

Throughout 2026, the LEGO Group will continue to roll out new products and experiences, ensuring everyone can join the fun. From FIFA Fan Festivals to special tournament events, there will be plenty of chances for LEGO enthusiasts and football fans alike to build, play, and share in the excitement of the beautiful game.

LEGO Editions is a new platform that will connect young people with their icons and passions, creating a space to celebrate achievements and talent. It will include playful, collectable sets that fans can proudly display.

This set will be released on the 1st of March, costing £159.99, $199.99 or €179.99. It is already available to pre-order on LEGO.com.

Why? And how is this 2800 pieces?

I don’t get it. What does this have to do with the 2026 Winter Olympics? And is that real trophy just a giant piece of chocolate wrapped in gold foil?

You’d think a professional trophy maker would be able to make a better sphere, but the proof lies before you. Maybe they were trying to very accurately capture the wonky faceted look of the original.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ah yes, just what Lego needed: A partnership with what might just be the most corrupt sports organisation in the world.....

As for the cup....for an almost 3k piece set this looks rather crude. And while I understand why they use both drum-lacquered bricks and moulded gold pieces, that doesn't help either.

As for the partnership in general, I wonder if we'll get sets for every competing country in the upcoming world cup? And every venue as a Lego set? 48 team buses? A Gianni Infantino bust? Or hey, maybe a re-release of 21337, now with minifigs for all competing teams!

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I liked the minifigure size trophy better than the actual set. I hope we can get one from a smaller set. That will give my old soccer sets a new purpose.

By in Germany,

Can we, for once, get a good set some time again, pretty please?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Also, for 2800 pieces it should cost 300 EUR. What a bargain! Market value should be around 50, tho.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Well, it actually comes rather close to the original, which it is meant to represent. The globe is more round there, but apart from that, it's not bad in terms of replicating the original 'thing' with Lego.

Otherwise, I see potential for some interesting sets here.

I'd also say this makes sense from Lego's perspective in terms of potential sales and, maybe more importantly, outreach to a global audience. However, whether partnering with Fifa is ethically a wise choice is at least questionable. [and yes, I will still watch the World Cup, so probably shouldn't complain too much]

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Firstly, what a terrible looking model.

Secondly, I’ve never been more sure that whenever Lego spouts something about trying to be ethical, they’re making it up. Those ideals have well and truly been thrown out of the window.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Now you too can own a big gold Lego club.

Don't believe for a single second that this is not intended to be a loss-making set

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I want an Infantino minifig for my villain-collection.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Yikes. I wonder how many Trump will buy for the Oval Office.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That's... challenging.
Had to look up pictures of the original, but that's about as ugly.
The feature with the figure hidden in the globe looks unfinished as well, it all just seems to clip together.
Good parts pack.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Believe it or not- the front is supposed to be a male figure with his arms raised and above him is a globe with this side representing Asia. The back is an identical figure with South and North America on the globe. Africa should be on the side opposite the opening door. The door side should be blank as that represents the Pacific Ocean.

Needless to say, it's a poor effort. And, why in God's name is there some random hoodie-wearing hooligan inside the trophy with a smaller version that he clearly perloined from the winning soccer team?

Nevertheless, I really need that minifig version of the trophy to give to my German National Team Collectible Minifigs.

All negative comments about FIFA are incredibly inaccurate.... because they fail to capture even a miniscule fraction of the true scope of FIFA's duplicitous dastardly deeds. Most recently, they have happily jumped into bed and bent over to kiss the ring of: (in chronological order) Putin, the despotic Qataris, Trump, and Bone Saw.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Lego partnering up with FIFA and pretending it is all for the fans is very sad.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think it looks fine for what it is. It's just that I'm not sure that the intersection between Lego fans and football fans is that huge.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like football.
I like Lego.

I don't particularly dislike this - it is a reasonable Lego version of the real thing - but it not something I would ever buy.

Gravatar
By in South Korea,

Not gonna lie, I thought this was a fried chicken drumstick.

Gravatar

Not everything needs to be made out of Lego. The Designers seemed to forget that the top part should be a globe

Well, football (or soccer) is massive, at least in Europe. Just look at the money paid out in the Champions League or the money broadcasters are willing to pay. There's a gigantic pool of football fans that you can draw from for finding people also being into Lego. Just statistically speaking, there should be a lot of them, especially if not just thinking AFOLs but young boys and girls etc. Also, I very much suspect that Lego wants to tap into the (likely much larger) market of football fans who do not (yet) regularly buy Lego. From a business perspective, this seems to make perfect sense to me.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

As for the minifig sized version of the cup, I must admit I prefer the version available from Chinese knockoff brands. Looks far more realistic (plus is printed). Got mine with a knockoff Diego Armando Maradonna fig a couple of years ago.

Gravatar

Hopefully this paves the way for a LEGO Academy Award (Oscar).

Gravatar

Glad to see Lego can continue to outdo themselves with the moral dubiousness of their licensing partners.

Gravatar

It doesn't help that it's probably the ugliest trophy in the world. I say this as a football fan.

Gravatar

Well. Now THAT is ugly

Also a wonderful Move for the LEGO Group to work together with the most corrupt Sports Organisation in the World. Bravo !

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I think it is a fine prize for a football competition.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

No amount of expletives could convey how angry this partnership makes me. Sure, LEGO, cut your partnership with Shell because of the environment and the signal it sends to children, that’s fine. But with that in mind, did you not think about those same children when you were making this deal with what is widely considered the most corrupt non-governmental organisation in the world? Or did Gianni Infantino scare you into this by showing you pictures of Saudi consulates and embassies?

I don’t like the direction this Lego train is heading in, and I think I wanna get off.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My least favourite sport and trophy, will never get this.

Release the modular!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

By definition, the World Cup trophy should be…a cup?
(and not an ice cream cone)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

2025: I'm getting Trump involved. This is the worst thing that will ever happen to Le Soccre.
2026: Hold my cup.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don't see why there is so much negativity. If the FA can raise £160, we can see Harry Kane lift the World Cup. And they could probably even draft in David Beckham to help him build it.

Gravatar
By in France,

I would love to see more football as it is a great sport to gather people together but I would prefer avoid the association with such a corrupt organization.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Let me guess - no negative points during the official review from Brickset and $300 plus (rolls eyes). Hasn't Lego learned from their past mistakes??

Yeah, I started thinking, as I was reading the article, that replicas of other famous trophies would be cool. Emmy, Hugo, Stanley cup, there are so many... (Okay, maybe the Hugo would never happen, even if they did do a series of these, but let a sci-fi buff dream.)

I have a few of these from the 2000s that I want to put into my city. It's a fun bit to play, and while I can see why it wasn't the most popular theme, it's a nice addition to a city layout. People need their leisure activities in between being arrested and sprayed by firefighters.

Gravatar

I guess it would be most sensible to get the current cup with the barrel ring bands as they are at the time of release, thus including the champions from 1953-54 until now.

As far as I know three ring bands have been removed so far, so would not put it beyond TLG to include the bands for the champions up to and including 1953 as a GWP that was only available for a few days, but I digress.

Absolutely not the case normally.
I like sets from alternative brands, not knockoffs. But in the case of certain minifigs, which you would never get from LEGO themselves, knockoffs and custom manufacturers are the only way. For example I have awesome minifigs of Mario and Luigi, various celebrities, medieval folk, Bob Ross (including the alternative Deadpool 2 trailer version), and the Red Dwarf gang.

I don't know how many castles Lego have to release every year for AFOLs to pack it in that "Lego never do castles". The Lions Knight's Castle has had to have multiple promotions on it to shift it.

By in United States,

Zero interest in this, and FIFA is, as others have noted, an appallingly corrupt organization. But given the global popularity of the game, Lego's own European roots, and the fact that much of next year's World Cup will be held in Lego's biggest market, there was no way they couldn't do something to tie in with it. Agree that this is a really ugly set though.
