Luigi's Kart teased
Posted by Huw,LEGO teased another large-scale Mario Kart on social media yesterday, to accompany last year's 72037 Mario & Standard Kart.
Not much can be seen, but it's clear that it's Luigi's and its design is quite different from that of his brother's.
View the teaser after the break.

a character that's nothing like Mario would've been a bit more interesting I think
Mama? MAMA LUIGI!?!?
Not sure the name but the kart is based on a 1950s MIG fighter jet and is blue with a yellow stripe. As seen in Mariokart 8.
Poor Luigi, even in the teaser for his own exclusive set, Mario gets all the focus.

Nonsense. His size and shape is different. He deserves the love.
They also can reuse the nose piece, so it makes sense for them
I assume the wheels are meant to be canted and aren't just sagging?

Not sure they are :\
Finally some large-scale love for my man Luigi! Can't wait to see more info and to pick this one up once it is released!!
I always choose him over Mario in any game :D

they are VERY different, just ask their mother
But will the electronic figures play "Ridin' Dirty" when they scan it? (It's even the same kart used in the meme lol)
Wake me up when it's Toad.
Luigi is always number 1.
Yeah Luigi! Going to need this and then I'll build him a vacuum so he is ready for all the Boos!. Seriously, they could have skipped the kart, and just given him the vacuum for the greatest Nintendo series of games.

I'm still waiting for a Daisy in some form.

It's called the MACH 8
I don't know if the big Bowser set is at the same scale, but I'd like to build a kart for him
It's kinda funny how all the Mario Kart sets are still based on MK8 when Mario Kart World came out and introduced brand new designs for everything.
Asking marketing heads here: how is this "announcing that you will announce something later" a good thing? This is insulting to me. If you have something to announce, announce it, be done with it and stop wasting time of people reading stuff with no content.
We all know Lego releases all sorts of products throughout the year, why do they have to tell us: "hey people, waste some of your time reading an empty communique telling you that we will release stuff sometimes in the future"?
I think they are going to recreate every single individual from Mario Kart!
So here we have Mario with Luigi Teased. Next might be Peach & Toad and afterwards Yoshi & Bowser!
Unless they are going to expand it even further with the characters from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
Gotta get this just for the memes!

I imagine it's the same sort of concept as movies having a short teaser trailer to announce their existence before getting longer trailers closer to release. The first trailer makes people aware that something's coming so that they're primed to pay more attention when the full reveal happens. The average Lego buyer (i.e. not the kinds of extremely attentive fans who use sites like Brickset) is generally going to be less aware of upcoming sets until they see a post about it on social media, so extending the hype cycle makes for a greater chance that they'll see one of the posts about it.
Its the kart in the meme. https://www.google.com/search?q=luigi+kart+meme&udm=2&tbs=itp:animated

Further to what @Lyichir has mentioned above, teasers build anticipation, particularly in a market where there is so much competition for attention. Whenever this set is revealed, it may not even be the only set announced that day, let alone that week, so posting a teaser extends the period of interest and anticipation.
Also, in the case of Super Mario specifically, there have not been any new sets released so far this year and this teaser serves to confirm that the theme will return and keeps it in mind.
On the other hand, you need to be confident when posting a teaser that the eventual result will prove satisfying. Encouraging speculation and building anticipation can backfire terribly should the result disappoint people.
@ajp31: I read your comment, but put to a 'Wham' tune...
"Wake me up, when it's to-ad; Cuz' Luigi's just gettin' so o-old...":)
