By in United Kingdom,

I don't buy helmet sets but this one looks good to me

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Finally another LOTR set under €100

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Zero interest in the helmets. If it is the exact same Sauron as in Barad-dûr then I'm sorted. Nice though that folk have a chance to get it at a "cheaper" price

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

Simply a god tier set. The build looks fantastic and I love that more people will be able to get their hands on the Sauron minifigure! I love that this is the first helmet set to include a minifigure and it's one that's so desirable.

I hope we get a complete buildable Sauron figure one day like the new Iron Man set, that would be amazing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Want the fig but not the helmet. And for some reason it’s giving me Cthulu vibes.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This will definitely be the only LOTR set I'll buy, to put on my 'Movies & Series' display.

Absolute beauty!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Here before all the Star Wars fans start batching in the comments about "hOW coMe tHeY gEt MInIfiGs aNd wE dOn'T?!?!"

Gravatar
By in France,

As someone who already owns all the existing LOTR sets I will have to get this one too! But as it is relatively small it may not come with a GWP, so not sure I will get it on day 1.

Star Wars fan here! :-)

Not mad at all :-P

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Well, it's the least terrible helmet so far.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Definitely one of the best head/helmet sets. Thankfully they didn't include a hand with the ring on (Black Panther I'm looking at you).

And the minifigure is a bonus.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love it, but I wish Metallic Silver, or at least Flat Silver was used here.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Why did they do Sauron’s name in the nu-Star Wars font?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice idea, but it looks to me like the proportions of the spikes are way off? The shorter ones look too short and the taller ones look too tall.

I'm glad someone else pointed this out, that was my thought, too. I think if the short ones had two or three studs added in height, and the tall ones were shrunk by the same amount it would look better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The teenage years were difficult for young Sauron, as kids can be so cruel when one struggles with acne.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

SAURON!!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking forwards to Rebrickable versions that reimagine this as a Sauron head themed tower or tower top.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If I didn't already have Barad-dur, I would get this. But otherwise helmets/heads are not my thing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As someone who queued day 1 for Barad-dûr,

Fantastic decision to include the figure so that more people are able to get him at a cheaper price.
It's the main villain and an awesome figure, it should be more widely available for those who want him!

Hopefully this extends to the other helmet sets in other themes.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Weirdly and sadly TLG revealing sets connected to three evil overlords in one day surely is more 2026 than most things are.

Love the helmet representing the one from Middle Earth, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like but am not into the helmet series. This is the best one so far imo.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love LOTR, but these adult-oriented sets aren't hitting for me like the original line from 2012. They're either beautiful, but too expensive (like Rivendell or Bag End) or affordable, but uninteresting (like the book nook or this helmet).

Still missing Rivendell and the Balrog, and I’m having to pretend the SDCC minifigs don’t exist (thankfully, they were available in retail sets. And the velour bag from the Bilbo giveaway (or was it Frodo?).

The eye spikes are also in the wrong place. They are supposed to be above the eyes and not behind it like in the model

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks phenomenal. I’m looking to do more payments towards other things, so I’ll probably pass on this as to maybe get the rumored Minas Tirith, instead, but this is my favorite of any helmets/faces that has come out

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As with alot of people here, not a fan of the helmets series of builds. And this one has a few too many exposed studs and brick recesses to make it look good. Especially given if you shop around you can find a full scale, wearable Sauron helm for not much more than what this costs.

Though, if this gets discounted, its a good way to get the Sauron fig 'cheap'.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

I've always found it interesting how much Peter Jackson has shaped the public's view of Tolkien's mythology. Sauron from what I remember doesn't wear a suit of armour nor does he have a flaming eye. But those two elements are what people think when they hear his name. Hopefully we get Silmarillion sets one day. Since all the recent LOTR sets have been display sets with little play features.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Sauron or Michael Bay Shredder.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Say what you want about a helmet set having a minifigure, I love this set

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just want the minifig.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is overpriced, but I don't care. Take my money now!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Glad that we have a ”cheaper” LotR set again, but this one isn’t for me. I don’t usually do strictly display sets, and I’m not into the villains from LotR, so this one’s a definite pass for me.

The inclusion of that Sauron minifigure is sure to be divisive for people who bought 10333 and were counting on him remaining exclusive to that….

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

The price in eur is correct?? We pay more than americans??
Hey, Denmark, are you OK???

Gravatar
By in United States,

It’s an impressive sculpture, but not something I would be interested in displaying. I would only be buying this for the “cheap” access to the minifigure, but $70 for a minifigure is hard to justify…

Sauron pre-de-fingering was never covered within the scope of the text, from what I recall. That whole scene was inferred from present-day conversations. But when you’re switching from a text-based to a visual medium, why describe something when you can show it instead?

But while you are correct about how much the films have inhabited the public consciousness, that’s not always a bad thing. A few years before Jackson started releasing films, some company got their hands on the toy license for the books, and made garbage Balrogs. Yes, plural. They made at least three, including a Forest Balrog, and they looked more pathetic than imposing. It didn’t help that they were shorter than the human characters, with hunched shoulders.

And there’s also the Brothers Hildebrandt, whose paintings were produced across many years, and were officially sanctioned by Tolkien himself. For those who prefer the books over the films, those are the definitive depictions.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A definite buy for me. I hope they do a Witch King helmet in the same style too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

In brightest day... oh wait, that's the wrong ring.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Probably Lego's best helmet to date. Sauron is one of my favorite movie villains, so this is a must buy for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Alright who's the wise guy that brought Sauron back his ring

Gravatar
By in France,

Did you guys see the Minas Tirth leaks? It looks amazing!!! And having Arwen included is a nice surprise! Can't wait for June :-)

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I think it's great that Lego is honoring New Zealand's past by making the helmet of one of our most infamous historical figures.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool.

So more under $100 LOTR sets with more than 1 minifgure coming when???

The same guy who decided to simply walk into Mordor, against better advice to the contrary. Wade something-or-other.... said he was from another universe and was just stopping by to "mess with Warner Brothers". (whatever that means.) He had his friend with him, somebody named after a... badger, maybe? I can't recall exactly, but I know the friend had claws...

Gravatar

I know. It's all wrong. By rights this set shouldn't even be here. But it is. It's like with the great sets, Mr. Style. The ones that really mattered. Full of pieces, and affordable, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the next set, because how could the next set be as good? How could the world go back to the way it was before so much bad had happened to sets? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new set will come. And when that next set shines, it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the sets that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Style, I do understand. I know now. Folks who loved those sets had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. They were holding on to the possibility that LEGO would again release cheaper LotR sets, despite the ppp and helmet acne.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like this one I'd consider buying it definitely.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This will most likely be the first set I buy this year.

Tbh, this is one of the actually cool entries in the whole helmet series LEGO has done...such as 75274 Tie Fighter Pilot, 75327 Red Five, and 75351 Boushh helmets.

Gravatar
By in Moldova,

Yeah OK I'll get one. Cheaper than Barad-Dur, and easier to display.

We only ever saw him wearing this armor in the prologue scene. After his finger got cut off, that much of it crumbled to dust, and the rest of it imploded into a metal baseball. I don’t think anyone gave him the Ring back in this scenario. It’s just that nobody has taken it away yet.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I would love to get my hands on the Sauron minifig to add to my LOTR collection..

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why doesn’t Lego put the Harry Potter theme on vacation for a couple of years and replace it with LOTR playscale sets? What is stopping them from doing this?

Anyways I really like the helmet. A little expensive so I might wait for a discount but it looks super intimidating.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Not my kind of sets, but as a LOTR fan I must buy it. And I hope Lego doesn't read this.

Harry Potter has an upcoming TV series that will help drive sales, and provide lots of fodder for new sets. LotR has only had LotR:WotR recently ($20.7 million on a $30 million budget) and the Gollum duo is all that’s in the pipeline. It doesn’t make financial sense to drop HP in favor of LotR.

What is stopping them? I imagine the large multi-age fanbase for Harry Potter and the high sales of playsets that come with it. Harry Potter existing is not stopping LOTR playsets being made. If there is a business case to make them, LEGO would make them. The LOTR fanbase tends to be older and enough are purchasing the big sets that small sets are not necessary. Same later this year with the new (and even more expensive than Rivendell) Minas Tirith.

By in Australia,

I really want to buy this *just* for the Sauron minifig. I'm not sure I can justify the price, though.
