Is Maersk Blue back??

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Cute, but not this pricepoint cute, maybe at 30ish% off would be decent value. For connoisseurs of containers...

Gravatar
By in United States,

If it's not Maersk blue, then what is the point? Why do they think fans want to buy boring cargo ships, except for perhaps the exclusive color?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Pretty neat! I look forward to @FlagsNZ reviewing this set and its nautical details.

any idea about whats the grey pull/turn thingy on the side?

That is a LOT of stickers!

Gravatar

Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel? More like Medium Azure Dual-Fuel Container Vessel, am I right?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like the fact that the containers look like printed plates but don't like that the rest is stickers. Nowing how bad the other Maersk stickers degraded.....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Stickers, stickers, stickers.

Gravatar
By in United States,

At least all of the shipping containers are printed.

Actually, I think this is pretty reasonably priced. £140 for over 1,500 parts ain't bad.

Container ejector.

No, as that color was retired forever around 2011. This is likely one of the Azure blues.

The last one was medium azure and this one also looks medium azure. So looks like the containers are now printed tiles for this one. I am going to miss having to apply stickers to each individual container.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does seem a bit odd if its not Maersk Blue, unless of course the REAL vessels have gone to one of Legos azure tones. I think the Cargo stacks are one long printed tile, which would be good.

Those are 100% stickers. A few are actually slightly crooked in the photos

I presume it's one of the pull-out gangways mentioned in the description.

Gravatar

I have the Triple-E. I remember all the stickers... plus the STAMPs on the side, which I think may be the last time Lego did STAMPs in a set.

FWIW, Maersk changed their colours in ~2012 and that newer colour is almost a direct match for medium azure - their blue is a delta-E of 8.2915 away from Med Azure. The old Maersk blue is a delta E of 22.3652 away from Maersk's actual modern colours. The previous version of this set, 10241 from 2014, uses Medium Azure.

Statements like this show you're more attached to the fan name of a colour than the actual company colours, doubly so since LEGO never called the colour Maersk Blue (it's referred to as Pastel Blue).

Slide-out gangway. It took me a moment to realise it pulls out and rotates down, rather than just pulling out

Missed all the range of Maersk sets due to them being in my dark age. Not too fussed about the container ship but would love a train to reappear!

I'm glad there's actual box art, but this has close to zero appeal to kids (unlike 95% of 18+ sets).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't understand what audience the Maersk partnership has, even though it must have one to have so many sets. It seems like very dull, niche subject matter to me, and doesn't produce exciting models. I'm sure the company has greater cultural foothold in Europe, but this theme has always gone right over my head as an American--and even then, I'd hardly be interested in buying a set based on...UPS or some other shipping/delivery company familiar to here.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I want to love this.......but the more I look at it, the more things start to bother me....

I'm okay with the color, seems to match pretty well. And at this scale, some details obviously have to be simplified.

But all those stickers, some of which stand out more than they should (clear backed stickers please!!). But also the proportions seem a bit off, making the ship look smaller than it i supposed to be. Like look at the windows of the bridge, on the real thing that's one long strip of windows, with 7 in the middel part. Here in Lego they are spaced further apart, with only 4 at that center piece. It's not about the exact number, but creates a confusing impression of the scale. And also that slide-out gangway, that's so bulky here, while at the real thing it's just a (seemingly) thin line. And then there's the protrusion underneath the bow.....I see what they were trying to do here, but whereas the real thing has a sleek, sharp looking bow, this just looks bulky. Without it it would obviously still be inaccurate, but I'd say it would look better.

But then again, maybe these issues are now emphasized on the pictures, and don't stand out as much when looking at the real thing. Looking forward to a review!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Well...Lego obviously is a Danish company, maybe that also plays a role here? But also, Maersk is the 2nd biggest container shipping company in the world, behid MSC. But unless you live near a major port you're unlikely to see much of it, apart from at times one of their containers on a truck or train. And let's be real: You'll never see the ship with only Maersk containers....

Gravatar

"All the way to zero" just about sums up my excitement for this set. lol.

Kidding, I'm sure someone will love it, even if it's not for me. But the joke was too good to miss. Also, how big must that cup of tea and fried egg be?!

Gravatar

Great concept in real life, but not sure there is a market for this in Lego...

No explanation of the "dual-fuel" thing. Typical Lego press release.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Even as an adult, I'd rather pick up the 60368 Arctic Explorer Ship over this. It's longer, comes with mini-figs, has play features, and even comes with a killer whale; the value for what you get is not even close.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is kinda cool. I remember having some sort of container ship as a little kid, it's chonky build made it uniquely fun to "swoosh" around as if sailing.

Now the real question is can i get a way with having this baby on my desk at work or will it draw too much attention? hmm..

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I had the previous version of this - acquired 2nd hand from a guy that used to work in Maersk! - and she was a beauty!
Except for the 5 million stickers, including the STAMPS!
After about a year on the mantelpiece, I sold it for a tidy profit.

Will probably pickup this new one at some stage, hopefully on discount, or at least a double points / GWP promo.
It looks great - as far as boring container ships go!
Everything is better in LEGO!
:)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The kid in the lifestyle photos looks a bit young to be enjoying this type of set. I would have thought the target audience is somewhat older.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I still have 10155-1 bagged up somewhere. It's an impressive model. I am sure this one is, too. But given the rate that impressive models are being released, I am not sure I am impressed enough by this one.

I bought 10155 used, so somebody else applied all the stickers for me :) They do tend to peel, though, if I remember correctly. It's been disassembled for 10 years now I guess. All this Lego just takes up too much space

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I managed to get 10219 train off ebay when I returned from the dark ages, which I really like, but I'm not interested on the ship. If Maersk made a time travel trip into the past to the age of sails then I'd probably be tempted, but otherwise this is an easy pass.

It can run on both diesel and methanol.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

As for the set, I've always been a sucker for Maersk merch, even though I live nowhere near any major port. But the containers at least are transported by rail along the line that passes our town, so I see those frequently.

Plus I have the Triple-A, and this will go nicely with it. In no hurry to get it of course, but at a nice discount I am sure it will find a way into my collection.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A display set that's not 18+ and has color on the box? Thought I had clicked on RSOTD and was seeing something from 2014!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Just want to point out that the data sheet plaque is also a sticker. Thought that had been consigned to the history books.
Guess all the budget went into printing the containers...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'll be getting this to go with my 10241 Triple E and 10219 Train.

Shame that it looks like it's already hogging, even in the press photos, just like the Triple E set does if you leave it on the stand for a while.

I'm really hoping that they release another train though... (This time I promise not to leave it on a window sill for ages, then box it up in the attic - turns out complete darkness after prolonged sunlight exposure is a perfect recipe for white and light grey bricks to discolour!)

True of myself as an individual American? I would like to think no; I consider myself fairly worldly and interested in other cultures and their minutiae--I don't relate to Maersk because it's not a presence in my day-to-day, but I understand other countries find it more iconic. As for cultural blindness being true of my population as a whole? Yeah, fair. I see it all the time.

My post at 14:27 was meant as a reply to your initial post......except it didn't end up as a direct reply and was incomplete. I must have messed up....

But I don't think this has much to do with "cultural blindness", but more with just specific personal interests. looking at myself, I don't have a specific interest in Maersk as a company, but I do like big ships. And then the Maersk blue (or similarly ONE pink for that matter. ONE Innovation next?) makes for a more eye-catching set than more typical but boring colors for container ships like black or dark blue.

I honestly don't think the branding does all that much here. But this is Lego. If there's an opportunity to make it a licensed set, they 100% will.

No, it's supposed to be the ramp/walkway where the crew gets on the ship.

Looks like TLG photoshoped the package and rendering of the ship on it to make Medium Azure look closer to Maerk Blue? Why go to all the trouble when the last set in 2014 also used Medium Azure. Maybe it's illegal to use the brand logo in a different color and that's why?
Too bad Maersk transitioned in 2025 from grey containers to blue ones. Looks like TLG didn't get the memo.

Containers look like prints to me, which would also explain why there are only three variations of stacks. Everythings else obviously is a sticker.
