LEGO Ideas Snoopy's Doghouse revealed!

Posted by ,

LEGO Ideas sets are being revealed at an unprecedented rate and the next to be announced is Snoopy! This set will be released in June and the press release follows:

21368 Peanuts: Snoopy's Doghouse
Rated 18+, 964 pieces
$89.99 / £69.99 / €79.99
Available at LEGO.com from 1st June

"Dogs’ lives don’t have to have meaning." Inspire memories of witty Snoopy sayings and bring classic comic scenes to life with LEGO Ideas Peanuts: Snoopy’s Doghouse (21368).

This model building kit for adults features a poseable Snoopy figure which comes with 2 alternative leg builds for sitting and standing and 2 neck positions for lying down and standing. Display him lying on top of his house with his friend Woodstock on his belly, sitting up typing on his LEGO typewriter or in standing poses.

The interior walls of the kennel can be folded out to create a starry night sky, the perfect backdrop for Snoopy and Woodstock to ‘toast’ marshmallows on the campfire. A delightful gift for Peanuts comic lovers and Snoopy merchandise collectors, the set offers a fun way to create your own nostalgic home decor.

This set has changed a great deal from the original Ideas submission, designed by bossofdos64, which focused on the campfire scene. The doghouse is a new addition, as you can see.

What do you think of Snoopy's Doghouse and its multiple display options? Let us know in the comments.

Is Woodstocks feathers and the grass a new piece?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh it’s perfect!! Love the ability to change scenery!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

no airplane dog house?

also that price- ouch

Gravatar
By in United States,

Should've come with a old aviators cap for the only canine WW1 flying ace. this set should also have been made in scale with set 10024 so people can do dogfights between Snoopy and the Red Baron.

By in Netherlands,

Whereas the Otter was completely ruined by the re-design, I think Lego actually did a great job here. Both characters look better, and the doghouse is a great addition that makes for some iconic displays. And even the price seems not unreasonable. Well done!

By in United Kingdom,

This looks really fun, I like it a lot.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Looks like someone lost another licence.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Peanuts was such an integral part of so many generations' childhoods. So glad we finally get Snoopy in LEGO form! Maybe a CMF with the whole gang could come later down the line?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I‘m looking forward to the Brickset review!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’ve never been much for Peanuts but the execution here is fantastic.

That Price is awesome for what you get!! If you go by P4P, 964 pieces for £70 is amazing!! What did you expect it to be??

By in Turkey,

80 bucks is a bit rough but gotta get it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Welp. Guess I'm getting this.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Compared to a lot of sets now days, considering its licenced i think £70 is a fair price for this set

$90 does seem a lot for the Americans but with the current tarrifs its not surprising and im happy its not affecting prices elsewhere (on this set anyway, those new Star Wars sets may prove my point wrong)

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Wow this looks soooooooo good! They’ve done snoopy justice! Bravo!

Gravatar
By in United States,

What a fun set! They really nailed it on this one, it looks fantastic.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's surreal to me that back in the 1970s, Snoopy was as big a character as Mickey Mouse or anyone else. There was a ton of Snoopy merchandise on the market.

Snoopy has really dropped off in prominence in the past 40 years, but there's still a great deal of nostalgia there.

I love this set (the doghouse was a necessity in my opinion), and I'll be getting it at the first good opportunity.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I only have a fleeting knowledge of Snoopy and Peanuts, but this looks fantastic, and a reasonable price. Definitely be picking this up down the line.

Actually, with the exchange rate, your £70 is about $96, the 80 euros is about $95. But we have to add sales tax which varies by state. So these prices are pretty much the same, all things considered.

When https://brickset.com/parts/design-49308 was RPotD, someone suggested that it would make a good Snoopy nose: https://brickset.com/article/88287/random-part-of-the-day-sphere-3x3x11-3-w-knob The last time I went through the RPotD archives was after the winning submission had been announced, so I saved that article to my menu, wondering if that would end up being prophetic, but this is too small a scale for that. Anyway, I think this is the Ideas set that improves the most on the original submission. Not only did they add the doghouse, but the typewriter. I want to see someone add the decorations from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

@dimc said:"Is Woodstocks feathers and the grass a new piece?"

Doesn't look familiar to me.

@Murdoch17 said:"Should've come with a old aviators cap for the only canine WW1 flying ace. this set should also have been made in scale with set 10024 so people can do dogfights between Snoopy and the Red Baron."

As great as that would have been, I don't really see a way they could have done an aviator cap, although if someone wants to prove me wrong, I won't mind. And I don't have 10024, but if it's anywhere close to scale with 3451, doing this to scale with it would just be too small to do it justice.

@WolfpackBricks63 said:"Peanuts was such an integral part of so many generations' childhoods. So glad we finally get Snoopy in LEGO form! Maybe a CMF with the whole gang could come later down the line?"

If they did that, it would be the forth CMF set I bought complete on eBay.

@EtudeTheBadger said:"Good grief."

Why can't I have a normal dog like everybody else?

By in United Kingdom,

Love it, and the price is less than I expected.

By in United States,

Red 2x4/6 tile battle pack let's go!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is the first set in a long time that will go on my wishlist. Well done, Lego.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Love this set. I was brought up with Snoopy and Charlie Brown and team. I even had a LP record called Snoopys Christmas by The Royal Guardsmen . Instant buy even at NZ prices.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sigh. Or good grief. I want to like this. However, Snoopy has too many slots on his face! So many holes ruins it. Top of his head looks like he had brain surgery. So many holes. Arghhh! The holes belong on his doghouse courtesy from the Red Baron, not on his head. So disappointing.

Woodstock looks great, though. When we took our kids to the Charles M Schulz Museum and Research Center in California, they had a special exhibit on Woodstock. It made me love the character even more. I just want to recreate him because he looks wonderful here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks great! Might try to get it down the road.

By in Canada,

One of the very rare occasion where the Lego version is better than the original (IMO). Not a day one because I don't do that but this will find its way to my home eventually. This will come at CAD$130 which is a bit steep considering the recent range of exchange rate. If Costco Canada ever has this set, it will probably be the place to get it at a reasonable price. Will go right beside Wall-E and Eve.

The only nitpick I can say if any: missing the goggles, headgear and scarf. (would probably need too many parts for the headgear - basically had to redo half the head) - someone in rebrickable will come up with a decent solution I'm sure.

Also rare (and refreshing) to see mainly positive comments on this forum.
Nothing wrong with not liking a product but also no need to say such product should not have been made at all...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

My eldest possession is a piggy bank in the shape of Snoopy sleeping on his dog house. I think I'll keep my money in there, although this legofied version is kinda nice too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can't remember when I got it, but back in my youth I acquired a nintendo snoopy tennis electric game. It had two gaming modes, and the time, Snoopy was in a tree with three levels. I can still play it now.

As a result, I am tempted by this set.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Peanuts was my favorite comic strip growing up, I was kinda on the fence with the campfire, it didn't seem iconic enough, but I really really like this. Will definitely purchase at some point!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is fantastic! I cannot wait to get this one, easy day one!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

It was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly a shot rang out!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Upon further inspection, I wonder how much dismantling is necessary to morph it from the standing position to the seated position. It seems like it is not a straightforward affair.

Gravatar
By in United States,

$80 for pre-order at Target by the way.

Plus 4 prints and a new mold. Also at least 3 recolors. I’d say that’s a pretty great price across the board.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love how Snoopy's head was improved, but I am disappointed by the bad overall proportions of his body. The head is way oversized in comparison with the rest. Perhaps I'll get this, but I'm not sure. It depends on how much I think I'll be able to come up with a revised version of Snoopy that looks better proportioned. (May require making the doghouse bigger.)

There is a picture on the Lego website, the set comes with two sets of legs, you remove the front piece which is his stomach, and snap on the new legs.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

We have several Peanuts sets from the previous license holder.
This looks nice but not that much better than what we already have.
Price seems ok at least.

Gravatar

Mommy, what is that dog doing to that bird? Are they fighting?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@TheOtherMike:
Several years ago, I designed Snoopy in aviator gear on his doghouse in minifig scale, but when I went to build more copies I remembered that I'd used four The Piece of Resistance to mount the roof to the lower structure, and those parts haven't been made in about a decade. So I redesigned it to use brackets that came out after I'd built the first design. and then I haven't been really happy with that design because the roof feels too flimsy. So I just re-redesigned it a few minutes ago, but I'll need to buy a few pieces to actually build that design and see if it improves the stability. I think any of these would be easy enough to build.

However, I also built the tree in minifig scale, from right after they hang the red bauble ornament on it. That one, unfortunately, is hard to build with full use of two hands. In order to reduce that to minifig scale, I had to take some 3L flex-tube pieces from the old TMNT run, and cut them in half. Then I inserted minifig hands into the ends. And the bauble is a pirate hook inserted in a bit of flex-tube shoved into a Bionicle voodoo ball.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not sure how they could have executed it better. Love those new parts.

Gravatar
By in Slovenia,

Something bothers me about the neck, it's kind of a weird shape, the bottom part is too thin.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Very rarely they turn an Ideas submission into something much better. This is one of those instances. The idea with the foldable backdrop and campfire fitting inside the house is brilliant and the studless look of the characters is done remarkably well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

An Ideas set that actually looks great and unique? Wow, that's a rarity. Very polished model; the smoothness belies its true size! I like that they still managed to incorporate the campfire scene from the original submission - better than just building an empty doghouse. Still doesn't look large enough for $90, despite the piece count. I'd say $70 tops. It's not THAT big.

Maybe Costco will get it and it'll sell poorly so I can grab it for like $60. Not likely though....

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love everything about this. It's honestly so perfectly executed that I'm stunned. Instantly pre-ordered!

I think that both this and the Otter, are improvements of the original.
While this is a very big improvement.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This will confuse a few people, an Ideas set that is much better than the submission.

I would also say that about the price but I see we’ve already had a few auto-replies complaining about that.

The biggest shock though is our German lover of all other brick manufactures begrudgingly admitting Lego have done okay with this set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love so many of the decisions they made here but the lack of a Red Baron alternate hat/goggles seems like a
frustrating miss.

If this finds its audience, we could very well see easy similar sized vignette follow ups…Lucy in her Psychiatric booth, Linus/Sally in the pumpkin patch, Schroeder on the piano, Charlie Brown and a kite, etc…

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Great price. Don’t know what people are smoking nowadays, maybe ABS. £69 is a great price, and it’s licensed and has a new mould.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Probably one of the best-priced Ideas sets in years. Even better, Walmart and Target have it listed at $80 instead of $90.
Very strong design, especially with the multiple display options afforded.

more meant, doesn't look like a 70 pound set
but to be honest looking back now- doesn't look as bad as I first thought
