Following the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds sets in January, the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme is back with another wave, as two new sets will be released on the 1st of August.

77119 Tails' Tornado-1 takes inspiration from Sonic Unleashed, which is one of my favorite Sonic games. Unfortunately, however, there's no Werehog minifigure to be found. 77120 Shadow's Mech vs. G.U.N. Trooper isn't based on any official material, although it does incorporate several traits from the character, such as the usage of a motorcycle and the Doom Wing!

77119 Tails' Tornado-1

  • 310 pieces
  • £24.99, $29.99, €29.99
  • Tails, Egg Chaser Badnik

77120 Shadow's Mech vs. G.U.N. Trooper

  • 374 pieces
  • £44.99, $49.99, €49.99
  • Shadow, G.U.N. Trooper

The G.U.N. Trooper is a nice deep cut from the 2005 Shadow the Hedgehog game. Love how Shadow’s bike flys out of the mech too!

Your instincts are spot on. Everything including Botanicals, Duplo and Friends will eventually follow the Ninjago formula. Interestingly, that evolution is also working in reverse where success from design principles learnt from Botanicals is flowing back into almost every theme. Some might even point out that Technic has such an identity crisis that the pieces are routinely escaping to the Botanicals theme such that they are even more Technic than Technic models themselves. How bout that?

That plane looks sweet. Maybe I can turn it into some kind of classic space aircraft.

Yeah, if my Sonic collection extends beyond 30676, it'll be 77119.

That cross-wing formation reminds me of something. Ah! Of course, the greek letter, "chi". It's a Chi-Wing. Like Chima, I guess.

AND NOTHING ELSE.

Looks like B.a.s.t.i.o.n in the shadow set.

New plane is cool, glad I snagged the biplane though. I’m a sucker for that style of plane

Knees on a small mech?

How extravagant. I like it.

Fully in favour of a Tails-built X-Wing, and those are some very interesting legs on the Shadow mech. I like Sonic kits. Sonic’s 1&2 were some of the first video games I ever played, and I like the (usually) all-prints-no-stickers theme philosophy, so I will likely try and pick up one or both of these.

I'm a sucker for biplanes, too, which is one reason I loved adventurers.

What's fun is Shadow the Hedgehog (game) is from 2005, so it's actually Bastion that looks like the GUN Trooper.
