Instructions for a new promotional airline set 40146, to be available on Lufthansa flights, have been found on the LEGO server.

It's been a few years since the last promotional airline set was produced so this is a welcome discovery. I wonder if, like 4032 Holiday Jet, it will be made with different stickers for other airlines?

The first Lufthansa branded sets appeared in 1976.

Thanks to Bert for the news.

By in Australia,

I hope they do have the different versions with different stickers. It might actually give me a chance to get it!

Does anyone have any experience of what sorts of flights these are available on? Long-haul only, or might they turn up on shorter 90 minute flights as well/instead of?

Depends on the airline.

Thanks Huw. Happen to be flying Lufthansa (short-haul) in mid-January, guess I shall just wait and see if it's a) available and b) in any way worth the price it will cost

The should be available via Miles and More - I am sure that Star Alliance may have these under different brands..............BA still have the Helicopter via Highlife.

Just having checked, I think you are going to see this in Q1/Q2, not immediately on Lufthansa - their inflight runs until Feb 15 and there is no Lego available yet.

^it appears so. Now looking closer at the figure, the torso seems to be a sticker, much like the shell figures.

It's a lot, lot smaller than previous sets and seems to rely entirely on generic current parts and stickers. Probably just a one-off for Lufthansa - maybe their management are absolute addicts and couldn't imagine going without at least some LEGO to sell, so coughed up the cash to have a poly made.

Disappointed to see there hasn't been a new proper boxed in-flight exclusive in a while - maybe they just weren't selling, even though lately you could get them on any old flight across Europe, not just long-haul tax-avoiding transatlantic trips. Or maybe LEGO did their age-old trick again of knocking out one crap set no-one wants (the last police helicopter) and taking that as a reason to kill the line.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure of the next time I'll be riding an airplane...

I like this but I'm in the 'don't ever fly , and wouldn't fly this airline even if I was' boat. Ah well , planes aren't my thing. It's not like the shell stuff ,which is my thing.

That's weird... all recent airline promos have been City vehicles. A nice change I suppose, but I don't ever see getting one myself.
