City Advent Calendar Review: Day 12
Posted by CapnRex101,
Today's gift has a wonderful familiarity to it, albeit with a modern twist. Celebrations of LEGO history are always great to see and a self referential model like this one makes for a humourous and enjoyably addition to the Advent Calendar.
The wooden duck manufactured by LEGO in 1935 has become synonymous with the company's early years, and the remote controlled duck we see behind the window today is surely included in honour of this.
Considering the size of the model this is a pretty good representation of the duck which has an attractive red, black and orange colour scheme. A remote control is also included which is a nice twist on what was originally a toy one pulled along with a string. This feels like something added in for AFOLs as although this is a fun gift for younger LEGO City fans, some may be unaware of the reference back to the LEGO early days.
Overall - 4.5 - It is marvellous to see LEGO including this kind of thing in the calendar, satisfying adult fans while also providing playability when this gift is combined with previous days.

Given that this duck was on the front cover of the box, I'm surprised it took until day 12 to actually appear (I was expecting it the day after the girl with the ice-skates), but I think it's a lovely little gift.
The wheels don't touch the ground...
Have seen beter remote controls... but it's a nice bunch of pieces ;)
I just used the extra lever and put it on the back of a duck for an antenna.
I really like this guy. Now what we need to do is cut some Lego string and put it on the duck and have it as a pull duck.
Heh, that's cute. A nice change from policemen or last year's abysmal Fire Boat.
