City Advent Calendar Review - Day 24

Posted by ,

On day 24 we receive our final minifigure, and there are no prizes for guessing who it might be. Once again the appearance of Santa Claus in the Advent Calendar is a tradition, unsurprisingly, and he usually varies very little from one year to the next.

That is true for this year as the hat, beard, torso and legs are all the same as they were last year, although this is not a criticism as these pieces are all perfect for the figure. An almost identical minifigure appeared in Series 8 of the Collectable Minifigures The simple smiling head is fine as the beard obscures much of it, although white eyebrows might have been more appropriate than the brown ones which are visible.

City Advent Calendar 2014

His accessories are perhaps the most interesting parts. One is the same sack we have seen for a couple of years now which is a lovely piece, able to fit in a minifigure's hand or be placed on studs. The other is a printed cookie tile, which has appeared in ten sets before now, mostly Friends and Disney Princess models. This is a piece I have very few of so I am delighted to have another two (one is a spare), even if we are going to get loads in the upcoming 10246 Detective's Office.

Overall - 5 - It's Santa Claus and he looks fantastic! What more can I say?

By in Australia,

There's an empty round space in the foreground of the fold-down 'mat'. I've used mine for the snowman, but I guess it could equally be used for the barrel of tools...

Thanks to you, and LIT (and Huw for the pics) for all the Advent Calendar reviews this year! I only have the City one, but I still love reading what everyone has to say about the other 2 as well.

It's already nearly 'Santa-time' here is Aus, so "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" ;-)

By in United Kingdom,

Given the contraband status of cookies in the Lego city (according to the upcoming Detective Office backstory), this makes me wonder if Santa is the criminal mastermind behind all the cookie smuggling shenanigans...

Very nicely done, Capn. Thank you very much!

Merry Christmas from Augsburg to all the "Brickies" in the world!

By in Australia,

Very happy with the extra cookie and white beard today. I gave the extra cookie to the ice skating girl, but not the beard, because that would be weird. Merry Christmas!

By in United States,

Hmmm, wonder why they used a stndard head. CMF Santa had bushy eyebrows.

Enjoyed this year's City Countdown tremendously. The face on this Santa is different to last year's and the CMF Santa. The head this year is from the police officer in 7236. :-)

Maybe he's a brown-haired relative in a Santa costume?

Boots would be cool.

I was similarly confused by the smiley face, but THOSE COOKIES! I'm feeling very happy that I got this calendar. (Not so happy its 1100 miles away from me right now...)

By in United States,

This year was my first doing (and blogging) the Lego Advent Calendar - of course I didn't do this series, but instead focused on the Lego Star Wars one. Next year, I'll be sure to pick up both and continue the tradition.

Wow. 7 total minifigs and a snoman. That is way better than the Friends calendar. Only 2 mini dolls in that one.

Always a great figure to open on the last day.

Merry Christmas to all!

By in Netherlands,

Today was a day off preparing the christmas diner, so didn't took time to open door 24...
But on the pictures, looks great!
And cookies are always welcome, they are in the winter village set already, and in my MOC which is in my winter village, so now there are even more! :D

By in New Zealand,

I have really enjoyed reading all the reviews for the three Advent calenders. I have found the difference in the standards of gifts in themes to be interesting and will aim to get next year's Star Wars set as I think it out strips the the two .

I am going to use the black separator tray in the box as a handy tool to separate parts while building sets.

I have Santa's Workshop, a Winter Market Village and all the Advent gifts on two grey base plates out on display.

It is already Christmas here in NZ so I am off to open some presents. The whole family are coming over in a few hours.
Merry Christmas to everyone at Brickset.
