Series 14 collectable minifigs are monstrous!

Posted by ,

Images of series 14 minfigs have escaped from the Chinese factory and have found their way onto Baidu.

All 16 will be monsters of some kind and I believe they'll be released in good time for Halloween.

HothBricks has done a great job of creating this montage image that shows all that have been revealed.

By in United States,

January and monsters for October. Didn't expect to get this news so soon.
Seem okish but I'm sure zombie fans are going happy with this news...

Gravatar
By in United States,

That zombie cheerleader's pigtails make me think we're definitely getting New 52 Harley Quinn in the Jokerland set! She, the vampire lady, and the witch are my favorites. The Mad Scientist is just wrong, but the pink flask is nice. I wonder which figs we haven't seen yet?

I can totally see the Zombie Teacher trying to tutor the Spooky Girl! And I guess we have a halfway decent minifigure to make a purist Cheetah custom for the DC line.

I just love how most of these will fit with the previous CMF and Monster Fighters monsters. Time to expand the party going on at the Haunted House!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well that will save me some money I guess, was hopping for Simpsons treehouse of horror and I think scooby doo would have worked better. If they are just normal cmf might as well keep it as it is with something for everyone, what next castle cmf, space cmf. This might be the first series where I don't pick up any.

And the entertainer will not be carrying these.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

they said these are figs, which are "stolen" from the lego factory. So I think these are real figs not fake.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not surprised to see that people don't like a monster series. I am the opposite. I love a monster series! The CMF and MF monsters are some of my favorite minifigures, and I think this is LEGO's way to make some concepts that didn't quite work for MF or Scooby-Doo. And unfortunately, some, like the new Mad Scientist, don't work for LEGO. I like the creativity. A zombie cheerleader is nothing new, but she still looks great, and that hair is very very promising for a certain sidekick of the Joker...
I wonder why LEGO hasn't intervened. There's been an incredible amount of leaks from this factory!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like these figs, except the crazy scientist that looks like a minion. I guess some of the figs are missing their accessories?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I feel underwhelmed. Anyone else with me here?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^^^ Lego is producing things in a factory in China... This does not mean it "owns" the factory in China. Usually, to produce in China, as an international company you need to be in partnership with a Chinese company. This company is also required to own at least 51% of the shares... This means that it is difficult to control what actually happens there (as they have the majority of the shares), unless you have a full time presence, which could be difficult...

Chinese also work on a relationship basis, not the actual paper contract, so if the relationship starts to waver (even slightly), then they start to do what they want to do, rather than what they should be doing...

There have been a few comments about why TLG do not release pictures of models etc. earlier... Well we have an example here... How many rival companies in China will now be producing product similar to this to release before October??

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

On another note, these definitely seem to be (as previously mentioned) up to being including in Scooby Doo play...

I will be getting some (though when I don't know when as CMF 12 has only just been released here in Shanghai) for All Hallows Eve MOCs...

Does the warewolf remind you of the one already out in MF though??

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think this series will be good. Not their best series but I'll still get them. I already have a full set for series 13 and I actually go looking for extra goblins (they remind me of treasure goblins from Diablo 3 with the bags they come with and those swords look amazingly gruesome).

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

Oh my word this is my fave series in a long time! Hilarious and some great pieces.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These are excellent! The Zombie Cheerleader hair, with two ponytails, looks great. Nice to see the beehive hairdo re-used, although this one looks like its printed. From the looks of the Tiger-Girl's middle I'd guess she has a tail attachment - maybe Scratchy's. I wonder if we'll see a classic Catwoman in the Batman sets using that hair?

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Am i the only one hoping these are fakes?
The moulding doesn't fit system.

usually CMF brings NEW parts.. this is often a reuse of an old element.. (pirate torso, werewolf head, ..)
I say fake..fake fake fake...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why does everyone want these to be fake? They were leaked from the Chinese factory like several other pieces and minifigures recently. I hate the Mad Scientist's head, but the rest are perfectly legit.
And, Joefish, the Vampiress has nothing printed on her hair. It's just the light.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am hoping for a Grim Reaper...

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

Wasn't the Lego Minifigure Series 14 supposed to be a second series of the Simpsons…?!
(But that doesn't get include in the CMF numbering correct?)

I have my doubts that this is a genuine Lego® series. Just doesn't have the right feel about it… I don't think Lego® would produce a full series just for Halloween, esp. after doing Scooby Doo sets this year as well...

Gravatar
By in Poland,

A bit too childish for me. But I'll wait for official images.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This will join the Simpsons as the only series of CMFs I have skipped completely.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Eh , this just means I'll want to skip it but my parents will force me to buy at least a few of these... Ugh.
Are we sure these are real? Some of these really look like kit bashes and prototypes.
Well , I do like ki-adi mundi's ridiculous head so whatever..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The pirate, werewolf, Frankenstein rocker(?) and zombie teacher(?) look pretty bland but the rest are great. Glad to see the beehive in black, and the Harley Quinn hair in a normal colour (I hope the cheerleader comes with 2 pompoms). I'm assuming the witch will have a cloth skirt to look better.

The scientist's head looks awful but his gloved arms and pink flask save him. The tiger lady isn't a fig I was expecting at all but she looks good for what she is.

Thanks for the photo.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I love the idea of a Halloween themed range but this feels like something of a wasted opportunity to me. More zombies are always welcome though.

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

Maybe we get one day The Walking Dead Lego sets :))

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Still waiting for an (evil) barber minifigure with a straight razor piece.....

Gravatar
By in Canada,

These aren't fake they are preliminary mini-figures. The plant TLG uses in China does all the CMF series, some Chima and Friends elements as well. The bonus figures in DVDs etc are also produced in China. You can always tell because they Chinese plant uses a different method for printing so minifigures will lack the black print on the neck of a torso. (TLG uses this mark for the sensor to know where the torso is to print) pick up a CMF pair of legs and you will notice they feel differently and lack the same sheen as 'Denmarkian' parts. I think these are pretty cool except the professor. I'm undecided if I want to buy them...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The element on which they are placed doesn't seem to be genuine lego. Just saying.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not bad, but I'm disappointed that some previous torso designs seem to be reused with minor modifications. (Pirate, lumberjack werewolf, scientist) Maybe they'll be updated before the actual release, but while there are some gems here, it might be one of the first series I don't try to get them all.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I hope this is a early april fools joke.
They are horrible. And thats not a joke.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They look a little fake to me... The quality isn't that good either.. Surprised lego would pick a whole series around this type of theme. But no doubt collectors will get them anyway!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look kinda weird but FINALLLLLLLLY more zombies.

I mean COME ON. We've got gender swaps and redesigns of so many other nonsensical CMFs (LADY CYCLOPS???!!!!) But nooooooooo, don't reprint one of the most expensive CMFs of all time.

That said, these all aren't great (some are very cheesy and weird), but the multiple zombies are LONG overdue.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I generally like the CMF series, and I've been collecting since Series 1; even if I don't like a particular figure, or even series, much (Simpsons, I'm looking at you with those horrible heads), they give the opportunity to get new and variant MOCable minifig parts and accessories in a wide variety of colours, shapes, and styles for a relatively small amount of money, so no problem there. Consequently, the first thing I think of when I see new CMFs is what I can use the parts for, and this is a veritable smorgasbord of useful bits, for me - quite apart from the fact that I'm really attracted to this set! :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

For those questioning the Witch's legs, I'm pretty sure those are correct and she has a purple cloth skirt. Cartoony witches with striped stockings are a standard trope. I mean, Just look at this

https://www.google.com/search?q=cartoon+witch&safe=off&biw=1440&bih=789&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=YYzCVPWTFcXSggT_uIPADw&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQsafe=active&tbm=isch&q=witch+stockings

But I think the skeleton may be incomplete and have the wrong head. Looks like a classic bedsheet ghost head to me.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That's one way to add a Tigra figure to the Avengers sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ladymelissa: Do you know how LEGO's Minifigures theme works? It constantly creates new pieces and reuses older ones in new colors. None of that points toward this being fake. The scientist's head has nothing to do with Despicable Me, especially since LEGO does not have the property and has no Despicable Me sets. There's really nothing saying these are fake, especially since they came from the Chinese factory that produces the Minifigures line.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If these are Series 14, then I'm happy to say Series 13 may be my last. Everyone wants a complete collection, but these don't appeal to me and the price hike to $3.99 has left me looking for a way out. If I don't feel compelled to buy this, I'll no longer have to buy every series to feel "complete". Thank you, LEGO, for releasing me and my wallet from your grasp :)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

A nice idea for a series. Some figs might be their weirdest yet. What's up with the scientist's head? And why does one of the zombies wear a 2x2 plate on his head?

Gravatar
By in United States,

must have for scooby doo collection...must have...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Richl you beat me to it! My thoughts entirely!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These look less like mosters and more like minifigs in monster costumes ...out trick or treating. In that respect, they look quite good. I don't think they fit with Monster Fighters sets though, or any of the monsters in the CMF series so far as they were monsters, not minifigs in Halloween costumes. Makes sense to me anyway?!?!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the base they're standing on. But agree it doesn't look official Lego. Smurfs maybe?

Gravatar
By in United States,

If those are real, bleh... although that one lady would make a half-decent Cheetah.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Anyone else notice the Witch's black cat is frowning? That's pretty funny and cute

Also the Werewolf has the same clothes as Series 5's lumberjack. Probably for convenience, but still a neat touch.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

ADDED BY ME!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look like fakes to me, but Lego has pulled some surprises on us so anything could happen. I'm not a big fan of the monster theme. Although it would be cool if each series would have its own theme, like castle or space.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Awful, not enamoured with these at all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If they are real they probably are prototypes. The skeleton just looks off to me. Wonder what the other 5 figures are? Looks like a couple of good parts for MOC.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Anyone else notice that the werewolf is a wolfed-out version of the lumberjack back from series 5?
Awesome!

-Yes, yes you did. Should hae read all the comments before posting. *embarrassed*

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Great if you're a zombie fan but I'm not. Might get a couple but otherwise this series is one I'll be missing.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There are a few comments on the base. I looked at the Baidu pictures, and it has the LEGO printing on the studs, so I was wondering where this might come from. A game (as there are areas with studs, and flat areas), or a juniors set??

Anyone any ideas??

Also I saw that the Tiger girl does have a tail... Didn't get the Simpsons to know if it would be the same as in that one...

If they are fakes, there are a lot of other companies doing similar products over here in China, so some parts might have migrated across (minion style head for scientist)...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Joefish - The first thing I thought when I saw the hair on the Cheetah girl was Julie Newmar as Catwoman (still the hottest Catwoman to date).

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ I could not agree more Julie Newmar is still the hottest Catwoman. Hopefully we get a line of 1966 Batman Lego sets/minifigures.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Woodywood it's part 15623pb002 (bricklink) from set 10686 Knight's Castle or 10674 Pony Farm.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If these are real, this is the first series that I will be giving a miss...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just noticed that the Frankenstein's monster is wearing a cutoff jean jacket and has a a guitar. Looks like someone is slipping in a Rocky Horror reference, especially if it actually ships with a saxophone instead of a guitar.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Eh, I'll pass. I've never been a fan of monsters. Well, great for the Scooby Doo fans, but not for me...

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I think the baseplate is from Lego Belville set number 5862 (Flower Fairy Party) A girl´s set made 2003.

Gravatar
By in Finland,

I don't really think that it's true info.
In any case, let's wait for the official news.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They look cheap.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To me, these look like prototypes. These probably won't look the same when Series 14 comes out.

Certainly not.

Gravatar
By in South Korea,

I may get the skeleton and cat costume lady to make a Bone Suit and Coalessa from LEGO Universe.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!!!

As AFOL who returns from a 3 decade dark age only because of the Monster Fighters and LotR, I hope s14 is really a series of monster minifigs to add to my MF collection.

I only hope the quality and qc will be better than s13, which drpped again after s12.

s12 retained the improved quality seen in Simpsons s1 after a drop in s10 and s11.

The plant mascot is very cute.
Plant vs Zombies anyone?

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

The Kitty Lady minifig screams Josey and the Pussy Cats MOC to me. :D

Gravatar
By in Finland,

The design style in these seems to be quite all over the place... I do think that at least some of the pieces come from the Scooby Doo theme or the second Simpsons series (Bart has been in a skeleton costume in some Halloween episode, hasn't he?). Haven't the previous factory leaks tended to be much closer to the actual release time anyway?

But nice to see Frankenstein's Monster with stitches instead of band-aid. And the zombie cheerleader sure is a winner.

Gravatar
By in United States,

That's extremly creepy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A monster series sounds cool in general. But these look fake. The color scheme says it all. You've all been duped!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

That doesn't even make sense. What about the "colorscheme" says they're fake? They may not be final, but they look very official. All of those colors are real LEGO colors.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The 2x2 tile used on top of the head of that zombie seems like an odd choice. I don't get it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Okay everyone. First of all, this is not series 14, just as Simpsons wasn't a number, and TLM wasn't. This is LEGO Minifigures Monsters with no number. They do not number irregular series. Second, this is not related to Scooby doo, since a few are yellow. Third, they are not fake. When the first pictures of the Simpsons were leaked, lots of people thought they were fakes too, but they weren't. These are not fakes. There is nothing about them that suggests they are fake.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For everyone wondering what the deal is with the zombie with a tile on its head - they probably don't know where the tile goes and there's a hole in the bottom middle of the tile. "There's a stud on the top of its head so... goes there?" Is probably what they thought, knowing nothing about Lego.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Someone didn't think to put the zombie's newspaper in his hand (which would let us see it), and decided to be weird and put it on his head.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@8BrickMario Is it a newspaper? It would be cool if we got a newspaper tile reading 'BREAKING NEWS: ZOMBIE ATTACK' on it, and put a bunch of them stacked up outside the Detective's Office.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The color (brick yellow/tan) would suggest that it is a newspaper akin to the ones in the Haunted House, albeit with a print and not a sticker. I see a zigzag line, such as a sales graph.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder if Lego will eventually shudder and move the Chinese factories if this persists.

Leaking will always happen, but if it continually compromises their PR and intellectual property rights, it makes me wonder if they would consider it...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@77ncaachamps
I doubt it. I read somewhere that they were building a factory in China starting last year, so it might be possible they will move production there when it is finished. They have also opened up a "Hub" in Shanghai, so perhaps there will be more monitoring and accountability happening soon...

I just hope that with building a factory here that the prices will come down... I'm fed up of trying to get things and finding out that I am paying normal UK prices if there is a 30-50% off sale... I'm also fed up of getting complained at for bringing so much back with me from when I go back to see family in the UK (usually a suitcase full if my family is with me), though some of it is presents as it is cheaper...

Honest love, it isn't all for me... ^-^

Gravatar
By in Taiwan,

Wow, I didn't even notice the leaks these days. Same opinion, it's a bipolar idea. It's very seasonal and could target at the market more precisely, but would keep FOLs waiting for the individual characters they really want. And this also means LEGO designers can hardly make more creative monsters in later series.

We could immediately recall those complaints against the robots from TLM due to that the torsos can't be for MOCs. And this series is a bigger case. Though I never care about that too much.

The Halloween theme mix up some cosplayers with really zombies, this is an idea I like. However not all of the ghost-career combinations are memorable enough. Zombie sea captain is hideous (PotC?) The new cheerleader works for me since she reminds me of school horrors films.

There are inevitably rehashings, but by far I think both the Wolfman the Frankenstein are the lazest rehashings so far, while the new crazy scientist looks awesome. Furry Grandma might be a better idea than an ordinary wolfman, though I assume Toth is closer to his goal of a fairytale series.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I had high expectations for this series...but I'm honestly disappointed.
These figs doesn't feel like real LEGO figs. Well a few os these do, but come one. That cat girl is obviously meant to appeal Monster High fans, and the mad scientist looks like a Minion. That skeleton design is too weak, and it's the third/fourth time the creature of Frankenstain is re-used.

I was hoping for something original, like they did with all the monsters in the MF series. Those series are probably my favorite LEGO series of all times. We got some unique villains and new bits. The werewolf, the swamp creature...those minifigs were great.

Don't get me wrong, I love the 3 different zombies, the witch is cool and the werewolf variant is alright, but the rest...I don't know. Maybe I just need to see better pics.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@ ladymelissa my thought exactly...

looks more like scooby doo villains from upcoming sets....
