Doctor Who

©2015 LEGO Group

I don't suppose it was supposed to be revealed just yet, but here's an image of the entire Doctor Who set, courtesy of a French Shop At Home catalogue and Hoth Bricks.

As you can see it contains the 11th and 12th Doctors, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi, Clara Oswald, two Daleks and a Weeping Angel. 54.99€ is about £40 or $60 USD which seems to be pretty good value for a 600+ piece set with four minifigs, although the LEGO Ideas blog lists a slightly higher price of €59.99. The set will be released on the 1st of December.

Thanks to CM4S for posting it in the forum.

Update: CM4S has come up trumps again so we now have official images from the LEGO Ideas blog where you will find a gallery of photos and the product description.

Update 10th Oct 9am: LEGO has tweeted and the press release has gone out. It's now official!

By in United States,

I love the Weeping Angel, which has some of the most useful parts I've seen in a while. It can be a generic statue, a victim of Medusa, and its hair can go to elderly females. I'm hoping it has a demonic face, too!
The set itself looks great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this a Lego Ideas set?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

^Yes, this is an Ideas set.

Good value, for an Ideas set too!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego announced it on Facebook as an Ideas set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Source is Hoth Bricks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Goodbye money.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yup, day of release order for me!

Gravatar
By in United States,

They should have included Tennant to go with the weeping angel. I guess he's easy enough to moc, since the blue pinstripe suit torso exists. I'm definitely getting this set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi are far from my favourite Doctors, but I love the set and look forward to getting it!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was expecting it to be the open up Tardis so it can be displayed as such, not really an overpriced playset. This is WAY too much for just a wall and the generator..

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hmmmm. I'm not a huge dr who fan but this does look good. I know I shouldn't complain but am I the only one finding that there are just too many Lego sets being released? I'm struggling to decide what to buy and then I want to collect everything in a theme (scooby doo) then it gets expensive (even with discounts). Then, before you know it, the year is almost over and there is a whole new batch of sets being released... Aaaarrrgghh! And now there are two really cool Xmas village sets on Lego site. Oh I need therapy!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm torn. On the one hand, I like the Tardis exterior and interior and love that it comes with 11 and 12. On the other hand, not a fan of Clara's hair (although it's an easy fix) and I absolutely detest the Dalek build - much preferred the CB Daleks. I mean, I'm obviously getting it and hope its the start of a mini theme, but even so.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks great! I wish there was a 10th Doctor as well...but you can't have everything.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

And about time!... I have the Cb sets, but have always wanted Lego to do there version. A definite purchase. Will this be it though. I think so, but hope not.
So many possibilities with this theme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

At least this one won't sell out online within hours of release amongst all manner of LEGO.com site lag & errors leaving tens of thousands of fans angry & TARDIS-free.

It'll sell out within minutes :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ meesajarjar72: I too struggle to prioritize what Lego sets to buy. Just yesterday I reviewed what sets I have listed as "want" in the Brickset database. I took some off my list in favor of others. One of my priorities is to get all the Ideas sets as they tend to be well designed and one of a kind type of sets. My other must buy priority are the modular buildings. Everything else is up for debate and changes as new sets become available and what my budget will allow.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^That post isn't actually on their home page. Was someone doing a bit of digging on their website again? ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh my god! Finally! Awesome! But, the dalek from the dimensions fun pack looked better I think... But that isn't really minifig scale when compared to these. Definite purchase nonetheless! They couldn't have done better!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love it. Looks like the Tardis detaches from the interior and closes up into the traditional box. The Daleks are better than the ones in the Dimensions set, but still aren't all that great. I've seen (and done) better. I much prefer the fan ones that use a dome for the head with the eye-stalk on top. But the content of this set is still great.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The most exciting thing about this set is it possibly opens the door for other licensed BBC sets. I'd love a Lego TIT 3-wheeler, or maybe a Red Dwarf Bug. Wishful thinking I suppose but you never know.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Red Dwarf, Yes Yes Yes.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Splendid - another insta-buy....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Shame no cyberman. I don't think this will start a theme unfortunately. Dr Who is very character driven but very few vehicles or buildings.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love it but long time to wait till 1st December.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

There are several new parts in dark blue!!! Yeah!! :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hope it's £40, as this will have to be an instant purchase before it runs out so there'll be no waiting for discounts!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ Lego_Fox: The TARDIS box unfolds and attaches as an entrance to the interior, so you can have the complete exterior of the TARDIS as well as the interior. It would be impossible for LEGO to have the interior and exterior be to scale with one another any other way.
Loving the evil face of the Weeping Angel!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've never even watched an episode, but this looks cool enough to purchase.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I rebuilt the set in LDD, TARDIS takes up about 240 pieces.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yeah, nope. Not for me.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

No Cybermen ;(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think its great. ( yes cybermen would have been better than daleks but then they are the greatest foe). Great it has two doctors (I loved Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi is really growing on me now that series 9 is delivering much better goods than series 8). It will look brilliant on display. if there are more sets in this theme great but if not that's fine. To have all the doctors in lego would be brilliant as the CB ones were pretty cheap and nasty.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LordMoral I believe the Cyberman is in the LEGO Dimensions Doctor pack so I can see why it is missing from this set. Still disappointing that there is no 10th doctor, as I am fairly certain the Doctor in the Dimensions set is also the 12th Doctor, unless there will be a dimension pack with the 10th Doctor as well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Fantastic :-)
I want two: one open and one closed.
But no Cybermen. Booo! I'm not buying Dimensions for a single minifig!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I've not seen a single episode of Dr Who but somehow I really want this set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can see Lego doing a Creator style large Tardis at some point (like they did for R2-D2) - 1000+ pieces. May depend on how well this and the dimensions Dr Who sells.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well hopefully there'll be a full theme in a year so we can get more Cybermen, Silurians, Silence, The Master/Missy, Sontarans, and the other 11 incarnations of the Doctor (or at least a couple of them!)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

And I reckon the Dalek printed head pieces will be very useful too...

Gravatar
By in United States,

OH MY GOSH!!!!! I can't wait!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Weeping Angels are definitely the best part of this. Looks like they have dual-printed scary / angelic heads!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't know much about Doctor Who... Nonetheless, this set looks really great!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have to say I'm actually a little upset. I'll still buy it of course. I was hoping for a Tenth Doctor. Can anyone tell if the Twelfth Doctor's head in this set is the same one as the one in the Dimensions pack? They look a little different to me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Never seen Dr. Who so not familiar with the material, but it sure looks like a cool set! May be getting this at some point, but not for certain.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I've never been a fan but this is just another (ideas) set for the minifigs there isn't really anything to the set.

Next up is Yellow Submarine followed by Futurama then South Park.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I never watched Doctor Who but this set looks great! I would love to get this set just to show it off. I'm really impressed by it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hopeffully this is just the start and there will be more sets, more figures,or both :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Purple seems like an odd choice for the Doctor...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not a fan of Doctor Who at all, but I plan on getting this set. Or maybe a Christmas gift :) :) :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Matt Smith... I think I'll be skipping this.

And oversized Daleks again... ugh.

Gravatar
By in United States,

CALLED IT!!!!! Ever since the Lego dimensions set, I figured they'd do something like this. Now the question is, "Is it an Ideas set or a new theme entirely?"

Gravatar
By in United States,

My interest in the show varies, but this looks very cool and I hope to pick it up. It has such a great geometry and sci-fi whimsy about it. Plus, seems like a clear better value than the BBT Ideas set.

I'd love for there to be more Doctor Who releases, to add various other characters. Even though there aren't many obvious vehicles/locations for this theme, a fun scene from a popular episode could easily serve as the basis for another set, because people are going to eat this theme up.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Modular: There's always Jon Pertwee's Doctor's "Whomobile"... :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks EXACTLY like what fans wanted. Can't please everyone by including every character, but its nice that they included more than just one Doctor.

I personally couldn't care less about Dr. Who, but a nice effort for those that like the series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Someone's said Angry Birds will be the big reveal at NYCC.

By in United States,

I love this! Awesome minifigs. And so much dark blue! A dream come true--I was building DW out of LEGO back in 1984.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

No Tennant? No Rose Tyler? Hmmm... Why Smith? Eccleston would have been preferable, heck I'd take Hurt over Smith. I'll probably still get it, as the T.A.R.D.I.S looks good, just have to hope TLG release something else with Tennant, Eccleston, Baker & their companions...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmmm, is that clear orange piece a 1x1 round tile with a hole in it? Very intriguing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well dang this set looks good, despite my standards for LEGO Tardis's being unfairly raised by Mr. Xenomurphy's amazing MOC.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well dang this set looks good, despite my standards for LEGO Tardis's being unfairly raised by Mr. Xenomurphy's amazing MOC.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

THIS IS FLIPPING AWESOME!
The sure took their time too.
I hope they continue with this theme, similarly to what they did with the minecraft lego sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ok, I'm definitely going to be getting this!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@DanRSL I don't think the Orange piece has a hole in it... other photos where you can see the same piece on the opposite side show that it is a normal 1x1.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Happy to have Lego Dr.Who finally come to fruition but the Daleks stink. I'm feeling let down.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The absence of a cyberman is a good thing. Why would Lego go to the trouble of making a complex cyberman head mould just for a small fun pack, when there are easy fixes to make cybermen with existing pieces? In fact, they could have made it like the cyberman in the original idea, but they didn't. This could mean that we might see other sets with cybermen in them. Lets hope, people. I've wanted a Lego Doctor Who theme since I was 5.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

where's K-9?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To people saying that there's no wave of set potential due to lack of iconic vehicles and images, I say that's false. Doctor who has decades of material, in the last 15 years alone we,ve had stuff like the pandorica, fleets of Dalek spaceships, multiple tardises, alien cities, dinasour chases, Cold War submarines, Victorian standoffs, sword fights on spaceships above London, Santa frickin Claus, Robin Hood vs the sheriff of Nottingham, huge scaled conflicts on war torn worlds, flying aircraft carriers, pyramids that are actually alien research bases, a train in space with a mummy on it. That's just cherry picked examples from the last 15 years, there is SO much potential easily as much as Star Wars or superheroes set wise, if lego play their cards right this could become an evergreen theme the likes of which they've never seen before. It is enduring, it doesn't end, there's no movie release then nothing, the show goes on and changes with every version, evolves with every doctor. I sincerely hope lego make this a theme and not just a one off set, however said set is very good and paired with the dimensions packs makes a nice start.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

Looks fantastic, but Twelve is still wearing Eleven's outfit? Meaning that you still have to buy the Dimensions pack to get his regular costume...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^^ The only real Dr Who for me is William Hartnell... so I'm really out of date! :D The Tardis is a separate model from the console, you open out the police box and then clip it to the console so you build the tardis interior.

It's a nice enough set, but I do think the daleks could have been done better, they strike me as a little bit rough and unfinished, somehow. I also think they should have added a cyberman or two. Here's hoping for more Dr Who sets in the future, or I'll have to buy the dimensions fun pack!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

they have already redesigned the lego daleks? they look cool i guess.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh the optimism that €59.99 will convert to £40.......
Still, it's a definite purchase for me despite some very minor niggles - am I the only one who thinks the Capaldi fig looks a bit too old because of the light bley hair? I watched the 'Under the lake' episode from the weekend last night and PC is running around in a hoody, jeans and Sonic Ray-bans! This fig looks like his dad!
Yes, everyone has seen a better fan-made Dalek too (or thinks so) but I will enjoy trying to improve the design with the parts from the set - including black Apollo studs! I would just like a few hundred of those.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really like the design, but won't be getting the set. The Capaldi hair piece though - I'll be brinklinking those asap - perfect for an updated Tarkin minifigure!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Can't wait to get this set, frustratingly though it's probably going to be very hard to obtain in Australia and expensive. It doesn't matter though, at least one of these will be added to the collection. Disappointing that their is no Tom Baker in the set, the greatest Doctor ;D, but the angel, 11, 12 and the daleks look good.

The only really irritating thing that LEGO have done is release the Cyberman, K-9, Series 8 Capaldi and the other Dalek solely with the Dimensions packs. As a Doctor Who fanatic I will now have to buy these.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What no Sylvester McCoy! Ah c'mon peeps - TLG cannot please everybody all of the time - remember that the Minecraft sets came from Cuusoo originally - so if this sells like the hot cakes I think it will do, I can imagine a range of sets being released. Just imagine a massive scale Dalek like the large R2D2 a few years back...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@One Wag: YES! SOMEONE ELSE LIKES 7! I was hoping for him and Tom Baker, maybe David Tennant or John Hurt.

What would be nice would be a "Remembrance of the Daleks" set with 7, Ace, Imperial and Renegade Daleks, Davros in the Emperor shell, and maybe Mike.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^Yes but 7th doctor always carried an umbrella with a handle shaped like a question mark. Lego would need to make a new mould, which is not allowed in Cuusoo/Ideas sets.

^^UCS dalek? Oh Lego, please make one! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

UCS Imperial Special Weapons Dalek!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£40/$60 is optimistic I admit, but that's what Wall•E is.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh man, this is excellent. For anyone unaware of when this set is for the DW timeline it is the regeneration scene on Trenzalore. When 11 becomes 12. As you will see 12 is actually wearing 11's last outfit even minus the bow ties (which are cool).

So as part of the playset you can re-create 11's last scene and plonk his head on the purple body, and then put 12's head on . and then shout "KIDNEYS"!!

It therefore made sense to actually include 11 and not just his head. And also explains why there are daleks and the weeping angel - both were involved with the battle for Christmas on Trenzelore.

Also explains why it is 11's tardis.

excellent set Lego. Excellent

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Needs Tom Baker and K9... or am I too old?! :-D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

NathanR2015 - Is not the sonic screw driver a new mould? Granted it's from the Dimensions Doctor - but they wouldn't have made that it this wasn't in the offing!

Chouju_X[SPAM] - He was the highlight of The Hobbit films!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Uh, Oct. 10?! It's only the 6th.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Chouju_X[SPAM]: YES. Remembrance of the daleks set. YES.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ BooTheMightyHamster: It doesn't have a beard. It's opening its mouth and showing its fangs on its evil face, and there's no beard on the neutral face.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

cody6268 - Maybe Huw time-traveled. With Doctor Who, anything's possible. ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would also like a "City of Death" set with 4, Romana II, Dugan, Scaroth and the Countess.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

UK Price confirmed as £49.99 by BBC in YouTube video description.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well, this is another Cuusoo/Ideas set I can skip. I had no interest in Minecraft, Big Bang, Wall-E or the scientists one. And my interest in Doctor Who is limited to Doctors 1 to 7. Does anyone know when the marble maze set is being released?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm in. Would also like to see Tom Baker and K9 as I've not watched any of the modern episodes (I remember it in black & white with wurzel gummidge).

Gravatar
By in United States,

I haven't ever seen a single episode of this show but the set looks good. Happy for all of its fans.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Is anyone else just a *little* concerned over the mass-production of Weeping Angels? ;)

I love that there's a Weeping Angel (complete with normal and terrifying demonic faces), but the Daleks don't look ... great (although I recently built an army of Daleks based on MOC instructions I found online). Clara looks good and both Doctors look great.

As said, in Australia, this will be hard to find and hideously expensive, but it'll be worth it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Sinthoras
Nice! I love it!
I also notice that they show the price as £49.99 - which isn't a very nice conversion from 54.99€.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Too many people on this thread who haven't watched the captivating Capaldi as Doctor Who. Do yourselves a favor and change that!

This is a dream set for me, I'll be owning it the first day haha. Question tho: is the detached TARDIS at minifigure scale? Looks a little big....on the outside this time ;)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am willing to bet since the original announcement hinted at more then just the one set. How about a Collectible Minfig line with more Drs. aliens and companions.
