By in Ireland,

Is there a one-day-only event tomorrow for LEGO VIPs? Will they give us early access to the Tardis? :) I think the gingerbread house promotion starts on the 22nd though so probably can't be got with it, might still have to wait til Dec 1 in that case...

^ @LukeSkywalker - VIP events are tomorrow 21/11 for an hour before normal shop opening. I'm going to Metrocentre. I asked if Dr Who might be on offer early - definitely not I was told! Gingerbread House is freebie for £60+ spend. Various offers on the day, set discounts and other gifts. It's an expensive couple of weeks for Lego purchases right now!

Excellent! Unless of course you have a job. In which case midday on a Tuesday is pretty inconvenient...

There's an event tomorrow?? Is it secret? I guess it's a bit like the ones you hear about in the US where it's invite only?

I don't think I'll be able to make it to Bluewater, work and all that :-(

^^^^ @Lego_Fox - it's only fair, we gave the world Dr Who! You guys get all the convention freebies!

^^^ @BooTheMightyHamster - I've taken 'Dr Who'day off for wife's birthday - not sure she was chuffed to be told we're going Lego shopping though! Not sure how I'm still married actually...

^^ @omnium - Yes, it's a VIP invite event - my first one so happy about that. I make a point of chatting to the shop staff and always doing the feedback surveys as they're a great bunch at Metrocentre.

I'm Andrew Clark, I got back into LEGO around 2 years ago, and my only name to LEGO fame so far is this set. I do have a flickr though with a few models. https://www.flickr.com/photos/127122511 @N05/
I do want to get more involved, go to my local LUG etc.

Thanks! it Transforms too. Not sure if it's obvious but it's a render. I have however built Buzzsaw in real Lego and it works/ transforms. I will update with photo's.

Shudder! Anyone who chucks Ideas sets boxes away is committing a crime against AFOLdom!

By in United States,

Yeah I have my Birds, Ghostbusters, and Literally MY Doctor Who sets with boxes on display on a shelf at work.

Wonder if these sets will appear on the shelves earlier at the non UK lego stores :) I'll be back and forth Munich Pasing Lego Store every few days until Dec1st :)

This guy recycled an obvious idea that had already been bouncing around for years but was lucky to be in the right place at the right time, i.e. the time when Lego implicitly asked for Dr Who set ideas. I'd be surprised if any AFOLs want their box defaced with his signature.

Although I do like the way the Ideas Doctor Who set turned out (better Daleks, the intricate console, minifigs) I think I'll settle for the Dimensions pack and have some mini builds and more game time. I've been needing someone that can hack, interact with tech and fix things in the game. I will however acknowledge that the physical reward for my money is much less than the Ideas set!

Unfortunately both location and time are a big issue for me getting to the stores at all, let alone during the middle of the week. If I worked locally in Cardiff for example I could just pop over during an early lunch break. I throw all boxes away by the way other than massive Star Wars sets and Ideas.

You are right in saying I was in the right place at the right time. So yes as a fan of LEGO and Doctor Who I seized the opportunity when LEGO announced they would allow projects based on Doctor Who on Ideas. 100 or more other people also took this opportunity to put their Doctor Who based Idea, on Ideas.

If anyone of the 100 or so project creators had their Doctor Who design become an official LEGO set would you had said the same thing, that they were lucky, and that their signature would be defacing the box?

Well despite the fact this Tardis' doors don't open (!!!!), I may well be able to have my set box defaced by the designer.

I'm an idiot. It's about time I got a (blue) box :-)
