Old content resurrected

In 2010 we put scans of the UK LEGO Club's magazine Bricks and Pieces from the 1970s and 1980s online, along with scans of programmes from the LEGO Shows that toured the world in the 1980s. You can read about our quest to source copies of them in our news archive here and here.

When the site was redesigned in 2014, I didn't transfer them across because I didn't consider them to be part of the core database of information. However, every so often people have contacted us asking where they can find them because Googling 'Bricks and Pieces magazine' shows one of the Brickset news articles as the #1 result.

So, they are now back online in our new document library, and linked to in the 'More' menu above. You will notice that there's a section for catalogues too. We will be scanning every catalogue we can lay our hands on in the the coming months and adding them there, while referring to them in our Throwback Thursday articles.

1970-1975 are online now. Yes, I know there are already repositories of catalogues but they tend to be of variable quality, not presented at PDFs and no longer updated. We are not looking for any help with this yet but when we have finished scanning those we have to hand, we will put a call out to help fill any gaps.

Hopefully you will find them of interest and of use.

Oh wow, the memories come flooding back! The little star with a number in it by each reader submission, that was like seeing the face of an old friend for the first time in 30 years. Thank you so much for posting these up, I have some reading to do!

I've got everything single bionicle comic copy, if someone ever wants to take the time to scan them or whatever, just pay shipping and they're yours.

So delighted to see this!! I never even knew you had a document library here, so I know what I'm going to be doing this evening. :)

And when you're ready for more, well, I've just rescued my 90s collection from my mum's...

Golden studs! I'd completely forgotten about collecting those

Yes there was but I don't maintain that any more. If someone else wants the collection to host elsewhere I'll be happy to let them have them.

LEGO has fallen behind the times with their wallpapers: very few are 16:9 and those that are are low-resolution compared to today's monitors. That's one reason I lost interest.

Love Bricks and pieces! Brilliant work on scanning this whole lot.

I have some rogue catalogues and B+P issues from around the mid-end 80s as well - if I find them and spot anything you haven't got I'll wing them in your direction.

Check out those special offers at the back! £2.75 for a pair of roadplates! 65p for 6806! There's a certain irony in seeing 'Windsor Safari Park' listed as a place to go for Lego Club members back in the summer of '86 too :)

I looked at this out of curiosity; but it was only when I saw the badge of The Lego Club circa 1986 I recognized it and realised I must have had one. Thanks Brickset for bringing back memories.

Great to see all these scans, including all the Lego World Shows making a re-appearance on Brickset! :)
