Very cool MOC to win! Now I'm wishing I lived in the UK.. XD
Very cool. I have been in that stadium once when my hometown club played Newcastle United in the champions league.
I am a football fan but I support the New England Patriots.
I wish LG started Football Stadiums theme
I wish they made old Trafford, or Wembley... but nice looking stadium though.
Couldn't care less about the team, but really like this set!
Wow. That's a really, really nice model.
Being a Toon Army supporter I've been inside that ground hundreds of times since the late 70's (it looked a lot different back then) so I'd absolutely love to win this.
@darthmar that must have been many years ago :)
Very nice model, this is my local club and i can vouch for the reproduction of the stadium - it's very accurate. Might just buy a ticket...
I like how they made the stadium empty, accurately depicting European competition nights...
@ninjagoyo - this is one stadium that is never empty. Despite being relegated last season we still have over fifty thousand Geordies filling the ground every home game.
@joemmo it was back in the 2002-2003 season, if my memory serves me right, that was also the last time my team played champions league. I had a great day in Newcastle and even talked a groundsman into letting me and my friends into the stadium to take pictures next tot the pitch. And my team also won the match.
But I would really love to see lego sets of famous stadiums. Maybe in the architectseries?
wow, this looks great! Although a product line from stadiums would be most likely very repetitive, not all teams have such an irregular stadium, a venue like Old Trafford, or the Allianz Arena would be very boring to build I imagine :)
This is also on display at Centre for Life (Newcastle) as part of the Brick History and North East Landmarks exhibitions.
I'm not really a fan of football, but this set looks amazing and it certainly looks like something I would like to own!!
Would have been nice if it was a little longer on the Gallowgate end, to include the Strawberry. ;)
@darthmar that's cool, I'm glad you had a good visit. I lived in Eindhoven for 4 months very near the Philips Stadion and went to a couple of matches there... It was a pretty crazy atmosphere :)
@mickywrx that would have been great, could always add it on i suppose.
Cool stadium. Otoh being a Scouser by heart I am more of a fan of Liverpool FC
:-)
Anyone know how many pieces that MOC has? On the site I could only find measurements and the weight (around 15kg), but I would guess 5.000 pieces minimum.
