Two new rewards set for release on Black Friday
Posted by Huw,
Two nautical themed Insiders rewards were revealed during yesterday's 10335 The Endurance livestream.
6550800 Barracuda Seas and 5009045 Chronometer will be available from Black Friday, and the latter in particular is the perfect accompaniment to the sailing ship that will also be launched that day.

I feel silly for how much I want that chronometer.
The Chronometer is much more interesting than the lame Treasure Chest they released a few days back. I'm so glad I didn't waste my points on that one. I like the Barracuda too. I hope I have enough points for both of these. If they'd just ship my standard PAB orders I'd have plenty of points.
The Chronometer would go nicely with the Endurance, bit the other seems pointless, as you already have a 3000 piece model of a ship.
These don't really raise my sails, or float my boat. Pass.
Um... No, it's Black Seas Barracuda, not "Barracuda Seas" (whatever that means).
I’ve never seen that piece before, 2 studs and then flat with the rounded middle point.
Hmm... I think as Insider Rewards go, I'll hang on for another magnet!
Nice upside down flag XD . Is the 1 gift code per order still a thing? or can you redeem more than one at once?
Is that gold piece with that acts like the lock of the chronometer a new one?

My thoughts exactly.....this had me utterly confused....
Both a bit meh. As much as I like the idea of that chronometer, in the end it's just a boring box with a printed disc inside (considering the pins on a simple gimbal mechanism?). And am I mistaken if I think we've seen better microscale versions of the BSB before?
And how many points are these gonna be?

2400 for each

Well, than I'm only 966 points short.....
I'm trying to figure out if I care about these.
The “Barracuda Seas” is done pretty well. First time I’ve seen the flag upside down. And it’s funny that it differs from the image behind it. Oops. The Chronometer is alright, too. It is more interesting than the treasure chest.
Much rather spend points on sets than insiders rewards, even the chronometer looks good, the chest is a lot better than the last example 500895, they're not worth 2400 points.

You are correct, 40290 included a better one. I would honestly redeem for that (and the monorail) if they made them available as individual rewards. I do like these (from the 60 years set), no GWP/time but you still need points accumulated to get them.
I may have to try the monorail, the parts for that don't look too hard.
So can we infer that the 2025 Lego revival theme might be pirates, or at least sailing/ocean, in the way 2024 was space?

No.
The theme for 2025 is profit.

I feel like it would work better if it was actually a Mimic.

I believe the big 2025 cross theme will be Formula 1 racing
I have no idea why anyone would want these

Ah yes, that's the one I was thinking of. And indeed, despite being very similar in size that one was a LOT better, it's not even close....the new base is nice, but everything else....

I think there was an even smaller micro scale version, along with various references to that iconic 1989 LEGO Pirates ship.

I remember seeing a flag upside down in an old alternate model, probably of a Castles set.

This shows a micro-er version, as well as claiming the museum has one as well, though it's not clearly the Barracuda.

The flag is not only upside-down, it's backwards!

Ooh, good point. Square-rigged tall ships usually sail with a tailwind, which will outpace the ship, resulting in flags flung towards the bow rather than the stern.
Seeing the BSB or I guess BS? odd, I instantly wanted it. Then I remembered the Anniversary set that I built the BSB from and I don't think I need this smaller version. I put the other version in the Ship in a Bottle set and it looks amazing. This one would only collect dust.
But I like they are trying to do more sets instead of random coloring pages or tins or whatever else...
Will the chronometer be available for all (with enough points)?
On StoneWars they say it is limited to 100 sets during the live event (and gone quickly).

I suspect it’s a Cardan gimbal. If so, I wonder how this LEGO version is built and how well or badly it works.

I'm not sure if a severe attempt at FOMO moves the needle for me about either of these sets.
Lego has inundated us with stuff that just sits there. I need sets that can interact with minifigs. I don't have any more room for the rest.
So from the attached image and comparing the model to the box art, the ship's gold flag is upside-down and is missing a yellow tile at the stern, and the chronometer is missing a dark grey (or black) ingot piece at the opening - is there some kind of 'spot the difference' game going on here?

Pretty sure you can still use only 1 code per order.
