21050 Architecture Studio is being launched in Europe on August 1st with some fanfare, in the UK at least. On the evening of 31st July, a special event is being held at Westfield Shepherd's Bush, London as this press release explains:

The LEGO Store Westfield (Shepherd’s Bush), is to host an exclusive product launch event for the new LEGO Architecture Studio set on July 31st from 4-7pm.

Do you have a passion for architecture and LEGO? Create your own designs with the new LEGO Architecture Studio set! Developed in collaboration with leading architects, and with over 1,200 monochromatic building pieces with an inspirational 250-page guidebook, the set allows you to turn your ideas into models, seeing your designs take shape before your very eyes! Anyone with an interest in architecture can now create their own LEGO original designs, as well as building mini architectural masterpieces such as the Eiffel Tower and the Trevi Fountain.

The workshop will see Finn Williams, Urban Designer and founder of Common Office, shedding light on the design process and the basic principles of architecture. Thanks to his guidance, participants will get a hands-on opportunity to explore concepts and discover new insights by constructing 3D LEGO models of their own designs.

“Architecture Studio takes LEGO fans back to the basic building bricks that have inspired generations of aspiring architects, including me,” says Finn Williams.

Exclusively available at LEGO Stores for £149.99 and from the official online shop shop.LEGO.com from August 1st 2014, the set consists of over 1,200 white and transparent LEGO bricks and a design guidebook full of tips, techniques, instructions and building exercises. It is endorsed by leading architectural firms including REX architecture, Sou Fujimoto Architects, SOM, MAD Architects, Tham & Videgård Arkitekter, and Safdie Architects.

“For anyone interested in visual design and the important and profound role it plays in our communities, this event is not to be missed! The Architecture Studio set offers endless possibilities to experiment with different shapes and inspire more people and next generations to get involved in architectural design,” said Emma Owen, PR Manager at LEGO Company Limited.

I'm not sure how you go about attending although I hear leaflets are being distributed at the store so presumably you book in-store. I will be there at the press and media session.

By in United Kingdom,

Saw this in the UK LEGO catalogue a month or so ago. IIRC it was £150 or something so fair to say I'll let this one pass me right by.

By in United Kingdom,

The PDF of the book has been removed from LEGO Customer Services now, unfortunately.

By in Belgium,

Sheesh, how many new and special sets are they debuting on 1 August? Couldn't they have spread this a little better?

By in United Kingdom,

Sounds a bit pricey at £150, so I might shop around. Personally, I wouldn't go to the Westfield shop anyway.

By in United Kingdom,

I managed to pick this up from Amazon.com a while back. Bit miffed that it's now going to be available here, but I got it for a reasonable price, so probably only lost out by about £20 in the end.

Glad to see Lego producing 'interesting' sets like this, alongside the mainstream items.

By in United Kingdom,

The price is a bit of a turn off, especially as it is the same price in dollars the US, though a straight 1:1 conversion rate does not seem good for it.

I have noticed a lot of sets are cheaper in the US than UK, though when you try to convert them across, the exchange rates vary from set to set...
