Posted by CapnRex101,
As promised earlier this week, the next LEGO Ideas results have been revealed and more projects than ever have been approved!
Five projects have been successful in this review period and another has been selected from the 'parking lot'. Furthermore, three projects have moved into the 'parking lot', meaning they may be chosen to become LEGO sets in the future.
Find out which submissions have been approved after the break...
Go Go Power Rangers by TrumanBricks
La Catrina by yop1172
Smurf Village by The Half Blood Baron
Ramen by Micdud
ET The Extra-Terrestrial by Lafabrick
Downton Abbey: Highclere Castle by BRO3
Three submissions from this review period have entered the 'parking lot', so they remain under consideration:
Daft Punk Concert by RobotRock
Golden Girls by Martin_Studio
The Old Man and the Sea by Iyan ha

ET Phone Home!
UCS ramen! What a time to be alive!
Mmmh. I guess my prediction of canceling the program was wrong. Why am I not surprised? :)
Depending on what Lego makes of these, La Catrina and maybe the Smurf village for me. And Ramen with a big maybe.
I sit right in the ET nostalgia age group, but no interest. Same goes for Power Rangers. The castle will very much depend on price (very expensive I'd assume) and looks (right now, not for me).
ET they already have the licence to and makes sense, Smurfs keep getting new films. Downton Abbey has another film out although the target audience is pensioners.
I simply love La Catrina as she is and wonder what the Smurf Village will end up like, when the Ideas team has done their magic. The other sets are not for me.
All six choices are truly embarrassing to me. Disgusting. Better yet, you'll save so much, so much money!
Huge congratulations to those chosen, genuine heartfelt commiserations to those not....It must be tough to not get excited at the prospect of actually creating a real Lego set.
Where Ideas go to die.

I miss Ideas when if you got the required number of supporters, you were pretty much guaranteed the set, unless it didn't fit with Ideas rules.
The fact that Ramen got an opportunity to become a set proves that the threshold is far too low.
Raise the required number of votes to 20 000!!!
what absolute rubbish
6 submissions approved.. how long is this gonna drag out for.
they are approving more than they release in a year.
Zero interest in any of these. I mean Power Rangers? They were lame when I was 9 years old in the 90s... And Lego ramen? Is this a joke? It will cost 10 times the real thing and will not be edible. There are good submissions here and there in Ideas but Lego keeps choosing the worst.
I couldn't be happier, the Megazord is a day 1 purchase for me. I've been hoping to see a Power Rangers set for such a long time. Thank you Lego!
There’s nothing in any of these for me…
I’m starting to lose interest in Ideas…
I pray that Golden Girls doesn't get promoted, what a derivative, boring idea. "Hey lets just do the lounge from a sitcom! Just like all the other ones they've done!"
Completely defeats the original drive behind Cuusoo/Ideas.
La Catrina is visually striking. Also, Old Man and the Sea; but I’d be surprised if that ever gets released. Honestly, as a guy in his mid 40s, I’m getting slightly irritated by the relentless assault of nostalgia sets. It’s clinical at this stage. Although, they must be moving on with to fresher fields with the Power Rangers. The might as well rebrand this as Lego Member Berries.
Great news! Hopefully ET is done right. Smurfs, Power Rangers and hopefully Golden Girls would be brilliant. Couldn’t care less about the rest.
Really positively surprised about the Smurfs; hopefully specific heads will be developed to do them justice, as their ears and noses are defining features. Gargamel shouldn't be included (despite I like the character, who's a grumpy old man like me) as he would'nt be in scale with the rest…
It's interesting that, at some point in the future, there'll be two sets based on Belgian comic strips — fingers crossed we get Tintin/Haddock… minifigs). I don't think there could be even more: heroes like Spirou, the Marsupilami, Gaston Lagaffe or Lucky Luke have had cartoon and (terrible) film adaptations, but I suppose their fame is limited to (central) Europe. Cubitus was turned into a (Japanese-style!) cartoon in the early 1990s, but everyone has forgotten about it, I guess. (I know there's a possibility an Asterix set comes out of the Ideas programme, but it's a French comic strip.)
I'm also glad about the E.-T. figure, hopefully it'll be accompanied by a minifig (and Elliott). Although I've never watched Downtown Abbey, I look forward to the potential of this set, especially if someone can modularize it.
Not interested in the Catrina figure, and I really wonder who would buy that ramen dish…
Downton, finally got approved, I think that was from the last lot. Old man and the Sea, and la Catrina, but I question the rest of them.
Wow nothing really surprising making it through but the fact they are doing 5+1 held over and have another 3 maybe is a shock. They will have to rump up putting these out but it must be a sign that these kind of one off sets are selling well and we are seeing Lego making more of them in the Icon range too.
Next round there are over 100 sets. How many of those will get approved. I’m not feeling any of these for this round…
Maybe Lego Ideas should become: first a vote for a theme / subject. Than fans may submit there mocs fitting the winning theme / subject. And than the best moc wins. The winning theme / subject will be excluded for 3 years the keep changing the winning themes / subjects.
Yes, Power Rangers!
Compliments my Sentai Force Collection dating back to the 80s.
Excited for Smurfs, as I was a big fan of the old comics as a child.

or ET Home Phone as he actually said lol :-)
which i only found out this week!
The Daft Punk idea is suspicious, because the whole lot has been done with CGI and I'm very sceptical they could get the lights to function like they did in the video.
I think it's about time they only accepted submissions where the ideas had actually been built, no CGI renders.

who cares about ET just make one yourself
Are the smurfs just goi g to be an expansion set of JonasKramm mushroom villages, feel like a bit of piggybacking off a popular bricklink design.
Like power rangers, so long as it doesn’t end up costing £200+.
Strange Choices:
Ramen - I just don't see much appeal
La Catina - I guess somewhat like the other upscale minifigures
Power Rangers - Too similar to Voltron and Mecha Team Leader
Golden Girls - Another TV sitcom show studio set (sigh)
Downtown Abbey - Another TV show set (sigh again)
Smurfs - This could be interesting
ET - Fitting given we just got Gizmo

I think at this point this would be a good idea, there are now plenty of submissions and people needing to build out a sets, especially large sets would improve the quality of submissions and reduce the number of identical IP designs for large sets.
Sweet!
I could be wrong, but I believe Super Sentai is actually older than Voltron, even if we didn’t get Power Rangers here in the States until the 90s. So good on LEGO for their love of combining robots.
That said, I was too old for Power Rangers when it came out. I was watching Animaniacs and Batman.
Seems like another poor Megazord where there is no tank version.
Downton Abbey will be a boon to us early 1900s-timeframe builders! So many minifig suits and dresses, which are generally hard to find on the aftermarket for good prices. If this includes a 1920s car, I just might buy the set...
Other than La Catrina, these sets feel recycled. Congratulations to the fan designers, but presented together, this does not feel like an exciting batch
@MisterBrickster said:
"UCS ramen! What a time to be alive!"
That's really the only one I have any interest in, but I almost certainly won't buy it.
@MegaBlocks said:"ET they already have the licence to and makes sense..."
They *had* the license. 71258 came out nine years ago, and licenses don't last forever. Even if a company is making active use of a license, they still have to renew it, which is why the Pokémon and Star Trek licenses became available for Lego to use; the brick companies that held them decided not to renew them.
@johnnytifosi said:"Zero interest in any of these. I mean Power Rangers? They were lame when I was 9 years old in the 90s..."
I was thirteen when Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers debuted in 1993, and I still remember seeing the commercials and thinking, "That won't last long." Boy, was I wrong.
I’m actually most excited about the Ramen, especially what the lego designers make of it (I’m sure the colors will be much improved).
La Catrina is also really nice, though I don’t know the subject matter at all.
The licensed sets don’t interest me at all, but in fairness that might be because I’ve gotten my favorite IP:s already (Zelda and LOTR)
Not sold on any of these:
* Never cared much for Power Rangers, and feels to much like Voltron all over again. And kinda ironic this is approved on the same they it was announced the Super Sentai series is gonna end....
* La Catrine looks great.....but how much of that remains without very particular lighting? Also, 2894 pieces, so would be close to €300. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this gets a huge (but tiny) makeover to make it a lot smaller and cheaper.
* Smurf Village: I secretly am Gargamel!
* Ramen: Sorry, this has been done before by other brands, and much better at that. This needs a LOT of work.
* ET: Guess this looks decent, but never seen the movie and just don't care.
* Downton Abbey: It is a beautiful building.....but I bet it will be pretty darn expensive.
* Daft Punk: Cool scene, but looks like a chore to build, and just forget about those lighting effects.
* Golden Girls: Haven't we had enough pretty much interchangable sitcom sets yet?
(and if only Lego made them compatible so you could combine them into a huge sitcom tower....)
* Old Man and the Sea: My favorite of the bunch, despite not knowing anything about the source material. But just a very nice, creative build. At a decent price, I might actually consider buying it.....if it gets made, that is.
Most disappointed in Mary Poppins missing the cut - hopefully that means one is coming.
They picked the wrong ET set. The other is considerably larger, but better done and more nostalgic/evocative. I get the buildable figure has wider appeal, but still. I don’t want *this* model, but would get one that gets the gizmo treatment and is upgraded in the redesign stage.
I'm not all that interested in the ones that have been approved or parked but I'll wait to see what the sets look like anyway.
A bit disappointed the Mary Poppins one lost out again. I really like the look of it. It's made it to this stage before and I hoped with the Disney link already there that it might make it this time. Ah well.

It includes a boiled egg, which also doubles as the main protein. After all, all that most people remember is a white thing with yellow markings...

I agree with what you're saying... But I guess a lot of us LEGO fans look at it from a different angle than LEGO does.
I'm from the generation that devoured the annual LEGO brochure to see what exciting sets were coming. Nowadays I sometimes loose track of the many sets that come out because they get revealed all year long. When I visit a LEGO store I sometimes tip over when I look at the number of IP products that exist nowadays. So to look at the list again:
Ramen - The Asian market is the biggest market (in no. of people) and the one with the biggest growth potential, so why not?
La Catina - This is the only one a bit original. But it fits with the other sets already out there (Day of the Dead et al), and maybe they sold well enough to try a bit bigger set.
Power Rangers - Nostalgia, and another niche. Maybe Voltron buyers are interested, SW fans, HP, fantasy, sf.
Golden Girls - Big time nostalgia, and LEGO makes a lot of money nowadays from 40- and 50-year olds.
Downtown Abbey - Another niche, maybe for the (female) parent that watches Harry Potter with the kids, and likes costume dramas, but hasn't bought any LEGO for herself. Or the guys that have a crush on Maggie Smith.
Smurfs - See Power Rangers and Golden Girls.
ET - See Golden Girls. Also see Goonies, Jaws, BTTF.
It seems that LEGO is in a 'release as many different themes/IPs-mindset' nowadays. You don't like Star Wars? What about Star Trek? Not a fan of BTTF? How about JAWS, Goonies, The Addams Family, Beetlejuice...? And there's always that adult (kid?) in the store that goes: 'Hey! They have Smurfs in LEGO!' Bingo.
Remember when Mega Bloks made Power Rangers sets? Pepperidge Farm Remembers.
None that particularly interested me, although ET might sway me if the end result is particularly good.
No Lego Ghibli still :(

And yet, we already have two offerings for La Catrina in 40492 and the gorgeous https://brickset.com/minifigs/hol304.
I'm not saying this invalidates the set, it just means that Ideas is even less original than you thought it was.
E.T. and Smurf Village
Those are the only ones I'll be getting.
I can't wait to add Smurf Village to the Bricklink Mushroom village sets and make a giant mushroom city
Wow, I’m very impressed that so many projects have been approved! That being said, they’re still kind of a meh mix. Not surprised to see sets like E.T. and Smurfs make it through, although I wonder how the Smurfs village could possibly compare to the excellent Mushroom Village BDP sets.
La Catrina is a really cool MOC so I hope it retains a lot of its qualities as an official set. Ramen is a cute idea but I probably wouldn't buy it since it looks like a large model and I expect it’ll cost at least $60-70. It’s nice to see original builds still make it through the approval process but I do wish Ideas would change things up a bit.
Really hope The Old Man and the Sea makes it through the parking lot!
POWER RANGERS LEGO?!?
WHAT WONDERFUL WORLD HAVE I WOKEN UP IN?
THIS IS THE MOST AWESOME DAY EVER.
NO I CAN'T STOP SHOUTING.
I was afraid ET would get made. Ah well, great for those who like that.
Very pleased for La Catrina, that's a beautiful build that I'm hoping will shine as an actual set. Definitely the stand out for being something original and unique for once. The rest are eh, though I do have to question something like Smurfs being made in this day and age. Then again, most of these are just to tickle someone's nostalgia so who am I to judge/
Wow! I haven't seen Ideas sets this bad since the DeLorean!
Since bdp is basically a castle line, sometimes with nice mocs from other themes. I think Lego try to experiment with ideas and things like this food stuff as a set. And ofc licensed stuff, cause they are so unique.
I am interested in the downtown abbey set, but only because of the building. I don’t think that I will buy it, but I would like to see the building and how Lego imagine it.
And they should raise the threshold.
@WizardOfOss
"And kinda ironic this is approved on the same they it was announced the Super Sentai series is gonna end...."
Not technically true. A lot of people have been saying this today, but it's not true. The series is getting a rebrand. It's going to continue (because it's still making Toei lots of money, so they have no reason to stop), it's just getting renamed or rebranded, some corporate thing.
Ramen? Really?! I can accept real life nostalgic objects as Lego but food as an actual buildable product is a joke. I really wont respect who ever buys that too.
Smurfs is a weird choice too as i dont think there is thet much if appeal. Even as kid i didnt like that much.
Others seems logical but not that much epic or interesting as Ideas used to be.
So much nostalgia bait this round, the smurfs one shouldnt have been approved in my opinion, as its just a worse copy of those mushroom houses from the bricklink program. And yet another buildable figure with et, very original.
I also don't know who the ramen set is for, but they should already know its going to flop, just like the Phone booth and family tree.
Apart from la catrina, lego ideas is turning very unoriginal and boring
Oh that La Catrina model is gorgeous! In general there's a nice mix of licensed and unlicensed models here. Most of them aren't really for me but that's okay.
I have no interest in those based of IPs. But La Catrina is fantastic, Old Man and the Sea, and Ramen I enjoy (in order of likelihood to purchase). Didn't expect any of them to be available.
However, I doubt I would buy all of them due to perceived cost that I am expecting.
I like the ET. I'll be building the head and shoulders as a bust from existing parts and maybe a cheap BL order but not paying for the set. La Catrina is beautiful.
Downturn Shabby? Let's see how much LEGO can rip off the pensioners for on that set. Aim high.

Smurftastic for the Smurf village! Might get that one. The rest aren't really my thing I'm afraid, other than Downton Abbey which I'm sure will be a good gift for my mum.
Ramen is a really strange choice for a set: how it got in over Gilmore Girls will be puzzling me for a while.
Megazord!!!! I wanted that toy so badly in 1993. At least I'll get it in 2026 in Lego form!
There is a god, who has chosen to look mercifully towards my bank account. No interest whatsoever.
Let me put that Megazord on my wish list real quick, thanks.
Has any set ever come with as many hands as Ramen?
The power rangers and daft punk sets were on my wishlist! Now let’s see them do justice for a reasonable price!
I'm really surprised by the amount of negativity in the comments. None of these really appeal to me, but I still think they will make cool sets!
(Okay--one of them does kind of appeal to me: I adore E.T. But I generally prefer minifigure-scale sets, and I already own the figure from LEGO Dimensions. I'll probably pass on it, but I still like it.)
If any, The Old Man and the Sea. I'm a sucker for all the literature themed builds, and this one looks so dynamic. It's a fantastic build and I want to see how the final comes out.
So they just announced that Super Sentai (aka Power Rangers) will end after 50 years because they weren’t able to make enough money from toys anymore…and then Lego announces this. Whoops!
@dimc said:
"Has any set ever come with as many hands as Ramen?"
This will almost definitely get changed, I don't think using minifig hands is classed as an acceptable 'official' technique.
You have to remember most of these designs will look significantly different to the submitted ideas, as that's what you are pitching, an IDEA (which does make the whole fan design submission process feel a bit moot).
Kind of disappointed. E.T. Could be really cool, and if so, it would be a quick purchase. La Catrina has a chance to look really cool, and could give us some new molds or something. I know next to nothing about Downton Abbey, but it could have some really cool architecture and Minifigures! I would also be fine with an Old Man and the Sea set as well. Oh well, at least I’ll be saving money.

Is it? Because all that I've read is that after the current series it's not being continued because of high production cost and low revenue. Granted, it wasn't an official announcement yet, but still souns very different than just a rebrand.
Can't say I know that much about it though, but heard it from people who follow it religiously.....
I'm a Gen X-er myself and even I'm bored with all the '80's nostalgia.

We can all be our own Gargamel. Now I'll have to get a cat...
The sitcom-sets really are the most obvious lack of Ideas you could think of
I look forward to Highclere façade with 6-8 minifigs
Though I very much hoped for a Scooby-Doo revival (after failing to get any of the original sets during my LEGO “dark ages”), I think most of these are well selected. Congrats to the artists behind the winning submissions!
This many projects being approved is shockingly good news and helps combat the feeling of hopeless odds that large review pools create. It feels less like a waste of time if more winners are being allowed. La Catrina being picked is also fantastic. I really hope they retain her monarch butterfly colors and don't change her palette too much, but this is LEGO. Could be fun to design a matching minifigure. The 2021, 2022, and 2025 Day of the Dead Build-a-Minifigure entries have been delightful and a minifg to specifically match this model would be great.

The original idea behind cuusoo was to suggest things to LEGO that they didn't think of themselves and then later to drive sales to groups that they might not already be targetting. And Golden Girls fits that bill very well. They don't have that much that directly targets 50+ females* and so this might help draw in more new consumers that don't normally buy LEGO for themselves. *of course other people watch it too.
I wouldn't buy the Golden Girls set, but then I wouldn't buy The Smurfs, Power Rangers, Daft Punk, or indeed most of the IDEAS sets produced these days. So it existing would make little difference to me.
Old Man and the Sea is the only one of these I have much interest in. It just looks so pretty.
Daft Punk Alive would be an absolute dream come true for me, so I do hope it works out.
Otherwise pretty normal Ideas stuff, including the oddball ramen, the one I'm most curious to see how they'll approach. Doing noodles with bricks is tricky, and LEGO won't use hands like the fan model there.
Also, other than maybe Japan, which has a culture of using realistic plastic food displays, I don't see how widely appealing it'll be.
The Golden Girls??!!

If you watch the list on Wikipedia, new sets get released roughly one year after being approved. So all six od these should be released or at least announced by the end of next year. And everything else that’s currently in the pipeline should also be on shelves.

Is 10-20% an almost guarantee?
I wonder how LEGO will do the UCS ramen. I doubt they'll use bare minifig hands (which is a disturbing building technique - won't someone think of all the figs that have had their hands ripped out!)
Downtown Abbey for fans of the tv show/movies
Highclere Castle for fans of the Architecture series, like me.
ET. Goes well with Gizmo. Would have preferred the other ET set with the moon and the flying bicycle. Iconic scene.
Golden Girls. I have all the other sitcoms sets, might add this one to them.
Ramen. Really? Unless it becomes a 3 in 1 set where you can create other dishes. Very strange set, but I guess it is an original idea.
People complaining about Lego catering to 'nostalgia' when 10305 Lion Knight's Castle just won a vote for best set released since 2020 is rather ironic.
Let's read the Brickset comments section for the usual daily dose of negativity...
I really thought that Golden Girls set would go through right away.
Hey, wow. We're getting another Tron set.
Very disappointing, but at least it will save me some money!
With 4 out of the 6 selected sets being based on something that already exists, it might be finally time to rename this theme to "LEGO IP's" instead of "LEGO IDEAS".

I also kinda wonder what that has to represent....the noodles I guess? At best looks like uncooked instant ramen.....
Golden Girls is a camp classic and still very popular (it's one of the most streamed shows on Disney+/Hulu). The actresses are great, it has timeless humor and tackled some issues in the 80's other sitcoms wouldn't touch with a 10 ft. pole and are still relevant today. Lots of people watch it out of nostalgia, and it's especially popular with young and old in the LGBTQ+-community. So I'm not really surprised they put it in the 'parking lot'.
That being said: I too am not a fan of all the IP-based submissions for IDEAS. LEGO should just do a separate line for all these one-off sets based on TV or movie sets.
Considering it is supposed to be the largest reveal ever, when I saw the selection I was obviously disappointed that not even one of my favourites was picked. Then I began reading the comments and realized that aside from la Catrina which seems to have some fans, the selection is not all that appealing to the people of Brickset. Let's see how they will do at large. The good news of all this: this will cost me 0$. The more it changes, the more it's the same...
Can we make the daft punk set a combo with tron legacy.
Really annoyed that Brooklyn Nine-Nine didn’t make it

All six of them exist. La Catrina is a thing and has been for 110 years, just as a bowl of ramen is a thing.
LEGO Daft Punk being a possibility heavily excites me.
@legoDad42 said:

I remember Mathew Ashton (Lego VP of Design) stating that he wanted a Golden Girls set.
My wallet is very happy with the results.
Not a single one of these interests me in the slightest.
The only slightly amusing thing I just noticed is that the dress of that ugly Catrina whatever that's supposed to be looks like it's made of lots of brick separators. I know, it's not, but it very much looks like it. If the designers have a sense of humour they should make that change during the design update phase.
Power Rangers-happy to see, it's a maybe depending on when it gets released and price point, but it would look nice next to Voltron. La Catrina looks cool but does nothing for me. Smurf village is cute & will have broader appeal, even if I'm not a fan. I get the designers wanting to build a bowl of ramen, but I'm always iffy on the "is it real or lego" designs. Blasphemous as it may be, I never cared for ET & I was part of the target demographic for that film. Plus I've never been into the buildable figure thing. The Downton Abbey Castle will interest my sister, so that's cool. And I'm really hoping Daft Punk do get made in the future. So overall, a great looking set of choices, just a lot I'm not interested in but I see the appeal.
I’m so excited for La Catrina! I love the build and will hopefully be able to add it to my Día de Muertos altar starting next year

"Even if a company is making active use of a license, they still have to renew it, which is why the Pokémon and Star Trek licenses became available for Lego to use; the brick companies that held them decided not to renew them. "
Actually, as far as the Star Trek license is concerned, that is not quite the case.
CBS decided not to renew the license to BlueBrixx and instead give it to LEGO because BlueBrixx was not able/willing to agree to the much higher costs CBS wanted for the renewed license.
The sets were immensely popular and sold very well, but BlueBrixx is a tiny company compared to LEGO. Their resources are limited. That's why they generally only sell unlicensed sets or of "B-grade" official licenses like Stargate or Robocop.
Hence why it was such a (positive) shock in the first place when it was announced that BlueBrixx had secured the Star Trek license back when they did.
Despite being the largest batch of selected projects ever, it's still full of uninteresting projects... to me, at least. I will say, I had to take a closer look at the La Catrina build - it's a lot bigger than I thought it was, and very probably bigger than it needs to be. Also I thought Ramen was just noodles... since when did it include all that extra stuff?
Anyways, everyone on here complaining about the lack of originality: it's Ideas. LEGO can only pick from projects that fans have nominated. And clearly most LEGO fans these days just want more IPs represented in LEGO, or copycats of existing LEGO sets (e.g., Megazord copies Voltron, all the real-world-object projects copy Icons, there's the Modulars, the Art-type sets, etc.). You want more original ideas coming out of Ideas? Submit more original ideas and get them to 10,000 votes. If you don't like the types of projects getting to the review phase, you have no one to blame but yourselves.
The only even semi-novel concepts in this round (IMO) were the cuckoo clock, the sea bass (technically an IP, but still a fun model), the art of Japan one, and the jellyfish, and of those probably only the clock would've made a good set. So: dull projects, dull results. The Old Man and the Sea looks nice, at least; I'll be interested to see if/when that moves forward.
Nothing interesting nor new (outside the skeleton)
Another mech (tons from monkey kid and ninjago), another mushroom house (BL designer), another real life object, another big scale character, another building
Stuff already made but with different coat or IP
The same goes for the sets in the "parking lot"
2 real life depiction, one from a sitcom (tbbt, friends, seinfield) and Daft Punk (as much as I love them I really don't give a damn a set based on them)
The really interesting one is the fisherman, very unique and stylized
I'm a little surprised and more than a little sad that "Love Enlightens" was passed over. "La Catrina" is charming (if you like that sort of thing, which I do) but I'm afraid, as was mentioned earlier, that the charm is a function of the lighting, or will get squashed in the redesign. Like others, I find the Smurfs set too much like the Mushroom Village on BDS--the Mushroom House was all I needed of that sort of build. I find "Old Man and the Sea" hectic and strangely claustrophobic--a redesign might help it, or might not. I'd love Highclere Castle, but mainly so I could rebuild the Museum of Natural History (a project for which I've already bought Wednesday's Dorm Room to get the proper roof). Sadly, it's likely to cost far more than I'm willing to pay. Probably all of them will. At the same time, they're certainly worthy sets, even if not my personal cup of tea. Congratulations to all the designers and all their happy fans!
Some good picks here--I hope they don't change a thing about La Catrina. Some of the more artistic projects tend to suffer when Lego makes adjustments to their designs.
Finally, a set of Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger! I hope the GWP for it is of Burai, or maybe a Jetman...
Who the hell is buying a Golden Girls set?!?!?!?
I watched it back in the day, I loved it, that catchy theme tune...
...I'm not buying that set.

It's a very popular show still, with tons of merchandise selling all over. In addition, LGBT community "adopted" it and it helped with re-awareness. Anyway, it's still " under consideration" so might not become a set.
Great selections, although I'm not sure ET will look good going by recent similar sets. Highclere Castle can appeal for non show fan as well given it's a castle, and Smurfs is a fun surprise.
I'm expecting Smurfs as minifigures and Gargamel as a mech.
Will Downtown Abbey be further juniorised like they did with the Home Alone house?
Or maybe they’ll do 4 stud deep facade…

How did they juniorise Home Alone? Sure it changed some, but that’s not what would be considered juniorise. Which is a made up term anyways.
I'm pretty happy with all of these, though the Daft Punk concert wouldn't really be of any interest. I would love that Old Man and the Sea set as well as La Catrina.
Another round of fandom baiting from Ideas
the old man and the sea is maybe the best of them
Laughable selections. Bricklink continues to deal, but Lego Ideas continues to strike out.
I liked Downton Abbey the show (finished it). But as a Lego set? No….
These 6 entries detail what Ideas is: original projects that wouldn't normally be made sets.
YOOOOOO POWER RANGERS!!!!!! and the dia de los muertos skeleton girl is sick too
What a shame for Ideas to become just another Icons theme for new, fandom IP's. There is nothing creative and remarkable about this series other than being a cash cow for TLG and to suck in new customers to this expensive hobby. It was clear from the moment they changed the age rating to 18+ where this theme would be heading towards.
Oh well, none for me in this series!
Jellyfish? That's one I'd've bought.
What a sad selection, no buy for any of these
Average white middle-age male stereotypical AFOL/Brickset user: This is garbage who wants any of this?
People outside the traditional Lego hobbyist demographic: Why do you thing Lego is making record profits?
Hint: They want to reach more than just the grumpy old white guys who love castle and space and may only buy 1 set not hundreds. (There are billions of those people and maybe thousands of hardcore AFOLs, it is simple business.)
Final note: just because you or I don't like it doesn't mean no one does, get over yourselves.
This is good news for my wallet. I can continue to focus on just BLP instead of worrying about Ideas for now ...
Power Rangers and Golden Girls! Yes please!

What's up with the racist ageist posters?
My concern is that I’ll agree with Few others that say they keep approving sets but it takes forever to release anything.
There were some neat sets. I might consider some depending on final product, but no sense in getting excited since it will take a year or better to get any of them.
But if I choose a favorite I would go with Downton. The problem is I already built a moc of a manor for Bruce Wayne that looks a lot like this moc (it was based off of the Dark Knight) so I probably don’t need the set after all. I just can’t wait to see Mr. Carson’s eyebrows in Lego form

Nothing racist or ageist about it. I am well aware as a grumpy middle-age white guy that the overwhelming majority of traditional/sereotypical AFOLs (and Brickset users) come from my demographic, and that Brickset comments about Ideas are full of this demographic crapping on anything that isn't their cup of tea. I have also seen in person how unwelcoming this demographic can be to people outside their demographic in the Lego community or to casual users.
I for one would like it to stop.
For clarity, I have zero problem with anyone saying they don't like something or that it isn't their cup of tea, or that they don't plan on buying. HOWEVER, that is a world away from calling someone else's idea trash or embarrassing or disgusting.
Dialogue is great, just stop the nonsense.

Plus, the house from the movie didn't look like it was built out of Lego. I don't know how that inacuraccy slipped through, it's just sloppy.

Stop the racist ageism. Please. It is highly offensive.
Power Rangers makes little sense. Hasbro canned the franchise, and the MMPR: Reignition figures are NOT selling well at my Walmart (though I sort of blame the whole "head flipper" type figures being the only option). Also, how are they going to do the Rangers? It would be wasteful to tool new helmets, and printing on a minifig head looks weird.
I predict LEGO chose Smurfs so they could do a larger range (and probably 4+ and Duplo sets) down the road once they get the licensing. Besides, Schleich has made Smurfs figures going on 40 years or so. Thus, I am almost certain we'll see dedicated head sculpts for the figures.
I could care less about Downton Abbey as a series (especially given around the time that came out--most PBS stations cut back on British comedies)--set looks great.
Golden Girls and ET--makes sense given how LEGO's previous nostalgia sets have sold. I'm not interested, however.

Yes, it’s an accurate Lego depiction of the house. If I wanted a full house I wouldn’t buy a Lego version. That doesn’t mean it’s been dumbed down, which is what you seem to be implying.
So maybe they can make that E.T. Like those built star wars characters. And you can add him to r2-d2, c-3po, wicket and chewbacca. I mean the species are also in the sw-universe
Smurfs could be cool. Nice builds and funny figs. I do hope they will make a new hatpiece with ears, and use the pinocchio head in blue for giving them noses

Pointing out facts isn't racist or ageist, please come up with something worthwhile to say.
Despite 58 submissions reaching 10,000 in this period (including The Super Robots which was removed) only five really appealed and none of those were chosen, Mary Poppins and Scooby Doo being the most disappointing omissions. The only one I'm likely to buy is Downton Abbey as that is truly gorgeous building.
These aren't all for me but I'm excited that so many either made it or are being held for additional consideration. I wonder what's going to happen with the next gigantic review...
I'm most surprised with the overall negative responses about this batch and the process itself. With this program, 5+ fans get to see their sets released by LEGO and millions of us get the opportunity to pick up a set that would otherwise never have been available. And if we don't like any of these, then we just buy something else and wait to see what comes next.
Smurfs make sense to me as a concept but I suspect LEGO will greatly revise the submission. As noted above, this is a great follow on to the Mushroom Houses from BLDP and could possibly find "Minecraft like" staying power.
Fans of the Ramen TV series will be pleased.

I am of tjhe opinion they should cancel the whole line. Voting is completely infiltrated with bots. Doesn't matter how many votes are required not going to reduce the number of submittal that qualify for review. Don't forget Lego also had Bricklink Designer Series too which is pretty much the same thing as Ideas (just with slightly more fragile builds).

I know, I never thought that the Chopstick Twins would ever get Lego representation.
Daft Punk would be great!
I mean, I already have a pair of bootleg Daft Punk minifigs. They're wearing pinstripe suits and have printing on the arms and the sides of the legs. Official minifigs would be nice.
I also have a Daft Punk minifigs t-shirt and I got complimented on it a lot at Los Angeles Comic Con this year when I wore it on the Friday.
The Smurfs set would be cool too.
La Catrina looks incredible. I hope the final set isn't too far off.
GO GO POWER RANGERS!
I'm actually excited for this one. I know some Ideas sets have introduced new molds, I wonder if they'll do the helmets as head prints or actual helmets.
